H-Pattern Shifters Enduro

Nice photos! I particularly enjoy the first shot with the sun peeking through the clouds in the background.

Thanks!

Yeah, saw that shot during the replay and said hmm, only time all the cars are likely to be that close together and the sun was shining down nicely. Your particular enjoyment of that shot would have nothing all to do with the car that's kinda featured would it? :sly:

Nah, it was just a unique shot. I honestly am not concerned with my performance. I know it sounds off, but I just enjoy driving around. I actually rarely race anymore.

I've been learning to play with replay photos recently, so it was of some interest to me. I may try and snap a few if I get the time.

Well that's all well and good Mr. Top of the Nurb chain. ;)

Just so those of you who don't know what you're in for tonight.

Marcus peeled off a 9:40.xxx on a standing start lap, a 9:36.xxx on a lap he hit the pits on, then he relaxed a little on his out lap and loafed hard core and did something not worthy of mentioning in light of the previous and subsequent laps where he posted a 9:32.xxx and a 9:33.xxx to end the night.

Props and gutted for Worst. He was making up time, .1-.7 seconds, every sector on Marcus and would've had fast lap, except for running out of fuel, literally, exiting the last turn with the finish line in sight.

Yeah, it's easy to not care about racing when you know you're faster than everyone on the track.

Not sure if I can make it tonight, I've had something pop up and I doubt I'll be home in time. I'll let Jeff know if I can make it, but don't wait on me.

Yeah, I made a big mistake in the pits. I took on more than double the necessary petrol load, and it cost me 18.9 seconds in the pit compared to 2nd place and about 17 seconds to 3rd. The extra fuel load cost me a bit in the following laps, as well as having an extra lap on my tyres at the finish because I pit a lap early. A pitstop is usually catastrophic for me, and almost invariably costs me the race. I was lucky enough to just to avoid such last night. My brake pedal began to drag a bit on lap 4, but I made sure to pull it back after hard braking once I noticed it. My hat is off to Worst for an excellent drive and final sprint.

Looking at the replay, if you replace Worst's final sector where he ran out of fuel with the best final sector he ran previously; he was on pace for a 9'32.1xx lap, which should have made for fastest lap. It is worth noting, as well, that a few of us were using the sequential paddles, rather than the H-gate shifter. This is also what causes the disparity between the qualfiying times and what we saw last night. Also, the race was only 5 laps which made for differing pit strategies and perhaps less care for wear.

Brandon, it is unfortunate if you cannot make the race this evening. I did not expect to race yesterday, and overextended my driving time of sorts haha. I am going to make every effort to make tonite as well, but there is small chance I will be interrupted. I will have a better assessment of my likelyhood of completing the race nearer to green flag.

With paddles or with H pattern?

All signs point to me being able to attend tonight. Debating if I wanna run no abs for max fun, or with abs for max competitiveness.

Worst and I were using paddles last night, the rest of the field I think were mixed. That is why you see such a difference in lap times when comparing with qualifying here.

For those looking to get some more practice in, i have a open lobby going.

LOL. While using paddles might account for some of the difference.... Some folks are from Mars, while others appear to be from the Sagittarian sector of space. Yes, this means you, Marcus and Worst. to both of you from someone not from either of those places.

I was using the shifter last night and coupled with driving in the dark for the first time on the Ring.....well I'm surprised I ended up where I did. A big sorry to dsg for basically punting him on the first lap. Too much sensory overload that I totally forgot where I was on the track...:banghead:

I should be on within the next half hour or so. See you all there!

Looks like I am not going to be able to make it. I got some stuff I have to do tonight that I didn't plan on so yeah sorry.

I am stuck on a conference call. This was the interruption I mentioned before. I'm not going to make the start. My apologies.

Things aint happenin for me tonight. Interweb issues, cant stay up for this race to run in the back probably only to get dropped. Hope ya all have a good event, sorry!

CONGRATULATION
Dan aka DSGERBC

Up next. Jaguar XJ13 at Le Sarthe (22 laps) (tire wear fast)

Debate is between racing hards and mediums and considering 1.5 hr race. Moving start time to 8:00 or 8:30pm.

I prefer hards myself but don't want to put anyone out if they are lil to hard to handle. So pm me if you want mediums and we will go from there.

Thank you all for making this happen.

Sweet Race! Sorry the grid wasn't as big as we were hoping, but it was fun down to the last second! I only dropped 1 wheel into the grass/sand all race, and I still finished 17 seconds behind which is a little depressing lol. Brilliant drive up front!

After 59 minute of racing, Owens and I finished .066 seconds apart for second place.

Snagged some pics!

Field led by Owens coming through turn 1 for the first time.

Exiting the GP section onto the North course. Three cars coming up quick behind Mr. Jones!

Dan taking the grid downhill for the first time. If you look carefully you can see the rest of the field way up the hill.

Did somebody say Side-By-Side racing?

What about down into the final turn on the final lap?

Still there as we exit onto the final straight!

With the finish line in sight, Owens has a clear lead!

But wait, out of gas with 50 feet to go? Impossible! At the line it's a photo finish!

Epic! Thanks for setting it up! Sorry I won't be around for the next one :( Hope to race with everyone again soon though!

Really enjoyed the Ring tonight, minus some shifter trouble. Thanks, Jeff.
When's the Jag race?

Congratulations dsg on the win. I'm quite bummed I missed this. I sent an email to move the call up an hour this evening, and that just ended up cutting off the beginning of my race instead of the end as we ran over on time. I'm sorry I missed it; looks like everyone had a great time.
