ICGTC Season 4 - Ended

Nice little race today, i never raced online on autumn ring. it was better then i expected.

I had a very good pace to battle whit the podium-drivers. But at the end i even had no chance against the midfielders. My tyrewear was just to bad. Tried alot of things but nothing helped. I also tested the Denso. I had exactly the same speed and tyrewear....

The new guys are clean drivers and have pace. I had a incident whit Gonzales though. He waited for me in lap 35, but in my eyes he didn't do anything wrong. It was a race incident.

I found the track really playful, some people say it's impossible to overtake here and my response to that is go get some skills. When I saw the line of the car in front going into turn one I could already then see how his line would be through out sector one and overtake was quite easy as I knew exactly where to attack.
Sector 1 was just epic and made the race from my point of view really enjoyable.

When it came to setup the car I couldn't really find a super fast setup witch saved the tyres. So I set the car up for tyres as it was really hard on my tyres. I found a nice setup witch I could probably pulled off a 2 stopper, but I went for a 3 stopper since I needed to pit after lap 10 since I got held up in traffic I decided to pit.

And those new guys really did well, really respectful and skillful driving. Looking forward to race them more.

Experience from first pre season race..

Do not put it on the same day as the Champions league final date. DOH

Some people sign up and didn't show, most of them let us know in advance some did not. Not happy about it. And some said some stupid things about the track wasn't suited for SuperGT and fled.. Well the rest of us had fun, go figure

One stint qualify with a timelimit of 10 minutes really was awesome, made us finish the race at the same time as usual even if we delayed the start for 20 minutes. Opens up for a few races that last longer without keep racing all night long.

Also it was about getting that lap in and not have unlimited tries. I really liked it. More pressure!

The track was really playful and worked great, but we could not test it with a full grid because of different reason and even with only 8 drivers on the grid we had some complaints about hitting traffic during the qualify. I honestly think that they can blame them self for that as I just timed it when to start and could go 1 out lap and 2 hot laps with no traffic. But if we add up to 16 drivers, we could get a harder time to make it work.

Sorry for not making it. I was back home and was waiting until 1 o'clock to join the room. Unfortunately I caught a throat itch and checked it out. After the medicine I slept almost immediately :nervous: !!! Really sorry about it, I'll insure it doesn't happen again.

Hope you guys had fun :)

Great race last night , I enjoyed it a lot . Qualifying was tough and I was lucky to run a 1 13 009 this gave me 3rd place but Hurleys time was amazing 1 12 6xx , he locked up pole with that time .

I think this qualifying format is the way it should of always been , its much much better .

I had a good start off the line but couldn't get past Doc , he's a very solid driver I was behind him for about 11 or 12 laps and couldn't past him even when I got side by side him he was good enough to keep his lead . Luckily my strategy worked and I did my passing in the pitstops .

Great result for the Calsonic team a 1 , 2 finish . Let's try to stay on the podium next week at Grand Valley Hurley , we will have a much bigger challenge there .

I still stand by my point.

The track is wide and has 2 legitimate overtaking zones , in my honest opinion its better than rome and monaco .

Ill be on later for some GVS practice , if anyone goes on early send me a pm or post on the thread.

What point would that be?
Just had to find this post, where yourself is posting we should not have any pre judge meaning of the track we test.

Since we'll end up with an extended pre-season due to the holidays, we should test out all of the tracks we haven't raced at yet. Regardless of how good or bad you perceive that track to be. Those couple of months will also hopefully allow PD to release another new DLC pack with an amazing new track ;)

You said you tested it, but I've been on a lot and I haven't seen you taking part in a test race so far. Going alone around a track isn't the answer if a track is good or bad for racing.

I'm not going to argue on this, it's done, we raced it yesterday and we must move on. But I put to much work into this to get a very late message that your not going to be here because you don't like the track.

So you can stand by your point.. my point is that leaving like that should be consider as childish..

What sort of times are you guys getting at Grand Valley? I think the best I did yesterday was around a 1:49.xxx or something after the few laps I put in to test each of the cars.

Trying to decide between the Arta and the Denso Dunlop Lexus, probably going to stick with the Arta as I know that car so well, but the Lexus is a beast on the hard tyres.

I will drive the Denso, Raybrig or Yellowhat Tomica. Want to test some more.

The problem for me this season will be tyrewear, I am driving agressive and intend to slide whit the hard tire. Could be a bad season.

Yellowhat:
PRO's:
- I have some nice setups to use and tuning better from last season
- Easy to drive
- Easy to tune

Denso:
PRO's
- It drives easy like the GTR, But has some more torque
CON's
- I don't know how to tune it. (yet)

Raybrig:
PRO's
- Its Just FAST.
- I intend to destroy my front tyres whit a Lexus and GTR. A NSX use more rear tyres and i can manage that better.
CON's:
- More difficult to drive and to stay consistent.

I believe the front tyrewear can be controlled with how you gear your car. Sometimes I downshift a extra gear just to get the balance of the car right before I turn the wheel. Seeing you push through most corner with a higher gear and most weight on the rears will of course increase tyrewear. And the racing hard will show that more as the balance is more important to get grip.

My suggestion if you want to stay with the AT would be a NSX witch have plenty of turn in even on higher gears. And rear tyrewear can be controlled with throttle control.

Track yesterday was really hard on the front and my setup was well worked out and still worn my front tyres. Some tracks aren't that hard on the front, but GVS also seem to be hard on the front tyres. Lot's of high speed corners where you could drive over the limit of the tyres and "live", but the life of the tyres drops a lot.

Working out a tune for GVS at the moment and best so far is 1:48 by Skengdigi.. I'm still on 49's.
Skengdigi did a 47 on half fuel.

I got to figure out how not to light the tires up at the top of my rpm range, so my next dramatic setting technique will be to stretch out my 1st four gears in hoping this will minimize the torque output a bit. One thing is for certain, this will slow down my acceration speed, but hey whatever works at this point'

My yesterdays report is it was more like a drift session for me, I'm sure some of you guys saw the show, lol!

I never thought I would enjoy racing hard but I must confess this is the most fun I've been having in a long while .

Its weird but the car balance feels a lot better on racing hard , its obviously slower but it doesn't feel that way since its the only tire we are using . I just like that the tires last a reasonable amount of time compared to the short stints of the soft n med.

Can't wait for this GVS race .

I have to say, from my experience on the hards so far with the NSX, it feels like the rear end has less grip, and the front end has more grip. The car turns in much better than before, but the back steps out much more easily. Although I'm yet to figure out how to tune to NSX to the harder tyres. Definitely looking forward to the challenge again this season :) There isn't much else more rewarding than getting the NSX tune correct and having a solid race.

I might test the Lexus a bit, but to be honest I'm an NSX man at heart so I'll stick with the Arta. I reckon me & Falcon definitely have a shot at the teams title this season ;)

I should be on a fair bit this week. I won't be on tomorrow because Monday night is Game of Thrones night ;) But I don't intend to make the same mistake I made at the beginning of season three, I intend to learn the tyres at least a fair amount before the season starts, not after :)

I have no idea about the NSX really. Been testing it a bit, but nothing big. But on the GTR even it started to use rear tyres more than the front because it spun more. So I went for a more aggressive LSD. I used to run a really low numbers there on medium and soft as the turn in on those wheels were just not present with a "normal" setup.
I went back to stock on the LSD and turned it up instead of down, so the work now is to find the balance between turn in and not spinning.

So a answer to JoeTruckV8, try change the settings in the LSD and keep 1st and 2nd gear a bit (very) long. Maybe even third gear. 4-6 shouldn't really be a problem area.
My LSD settings for GVS is so far 15-22-15 and I used to run 5-10-15 with small adjustments through out season 3. With the new settings I have no problem with spinning up my rear tyres.

To Arkano, you also could test the LSD setting, the higher the number the more under steer the manual say. So finding the balance is just as hard on all the cars now. What you explain have been present even on medium and soft, but the tyres have covered it up some. But we have seen more tyre wear on the rear on the NSX and that means it have less control of the rear end than the front end.
Get that rear end to stick and you could be super fast for sure. Maybe even get control of the tyre wear.

This could actually be easier than with the GT-R as to get grip on the rear you get more under steer, and the GT-R already under steer.
But I have no experience with the NSX, but I though you teamed up with Falcon already.. with the ARTA. I know Falcon have some experience with the NSX and the hard tyres. Should get some help from your team mate ;)

Gonna try Autumn ring again whit other gears later this week, and see if it helps. Tuning is is not black & white anymore. Whit the old tyremodel, when i had bad tyres i just had to change one thing. make the car a bit more stiff, a bit less camber or change the weight away from the problem area. Now i did changed all those things and tyrewear just keeps the same, it only affected the feel of the car. Whit the new tyre-model everything has to be so much better balanced + hard tyres makes tuning a bit harder.

Ive noticed the slight changes on tuning are a bit more responsive on the hard tires .

Another thing which I was quite impressed with is the big difference in the cars performance when you start to lose the fuel load , I gained about 4 tenths and the car felt so much better with a 9 lap lighter fuel load on GVS

I know the car was always faster with less fuel no matter what tires you were on but on the hard tires you feel/see these differences a bit more.

I think , I could just be over excited ......

If you're talking about the NSX Maxi, it's always been that way for me at least.

Get that rear end to stick and you could be super fast for sure. Maybe even get control of the tyre wear.

I feel like I did a pretty good job of getting on top of the tyre wear with the mediums on the NSX last season, hopefully with a couple more tweaks I can get on top of the hard tyres too. I'll check out the LSD as well :)

At autumn ring i didn't go faster one low fuel, my car lost its balance i think. I had no tyrewear left to get Erik and Gonzales back. But i was very far ahead of ADR_Bronco. So i did a extra stop at the very end of the race to try to beat the fastest lap. And i could't do any better then a 1.13.2 or something. the car lost all balance. I even didn't put in a 1.12 in the whole race. In practise i could easily do 12's, even a 1.12.2 at the end of my practise. maybe a diffrence in the private room/lounge?

Enjoyed the race last night, probably my first full race on hard tyres and the car didn't feel too bad to drive. Had a good battle with skengD at the start but he was too fast and my tyre wear was not great so I knew if he didn't pass me on track he would probably get me in the pits or with less stops. I think the track made for good racing. When a car made a move down the inside there was still plenty of room to hold a wide line and try to be on the insde for the next turn (which was fun). Looking forward to the next race and trying to find a good setup for it.
