Not a game, GT5 is a simulator
Of course, stupid me! :dunce:

Things like a livery editor will cheapen the game down to Need For Speed level.
In your opinion.

If GT5 included a rewind button it would be the laughing stock of the simulation world. Nobody is laughing at Forza 3 because nobody considers it a true simulation
So, in other words, you hate the idea of a livery editor in GT5 just because Forza has one?

Why do people want a livery editor. 1,000 cars with a dozen different colors each. Is that not enough variety?

Let's uphold the sanctity of cars.

Why even have true to life color variations for cars if you can just paint any of them a hot pink?

Forza 3 is a classless game that lets you do classless things like like rewind the game or desecrate fabulous Ferraris and Lamborghini with tasteless designs and images.

To me, personally, the bad that can and has resulted from including a livery editor far outweighs the good a livery editor can be used for, as in team recognition for private online league races.

If GT5 was a racing game that was series specific to lets say V8 Super Cars then a a livery editor wouldn't be such a bad thing because all the cars in the games are racecars and they all have sponsors, images and logos on them. There's also only a small amount of cars to choose from as well so there isn't that much variety. Gran Turismo is a totally different story.

Dude. You're off your rocker, and I mean that in the nicest way possible.

Not a game, GT5 is a simulator

Things like a livery editor will cheapen the game down to Need For Speed level. That may be fine with you, but not me

Again. You're off your rocker - how a livery editor will cheapen a game as opposed to the proper audio representation of said vehicle is farthest from logic I could even fathom. Custom liveries are a form of expression, representation and creativity - if you don't like it just don't use it...but don't profess it's going to cheapen the game as if that would be the end all statement. 👎

Great to hear but I can't understand why he didn't confirm the same in the IGN interview. Maybe he spilled more beans to his friend then he did to someone he did not know. Just like how amar212 knew alot of things about GT5 including the 1,000 car count way before everyone else

you just dont want to be beaten by my 2010 rendition of the 1968 Sunoco Camaro...

Well said! 👍

So after these events we frustratingly still don't know that much about GT5. What is the next big event or is that it now until much nearer the release date? I would have thought they would be proud to tell us how amazing their game would be with all the features but it seems like really hard work getting any information.

Since I know some french here is a more precise translation of the crucial part of the JVN interview(more precise than the google translation posted before):

It was a meeting between 2 car enthusiasts, which enabled us getting some revelations on GT5 in the margin of the interview. This way we were able to learn that the game will have a day/night cycle, and it will, at last, be possible to race in the rain.

Seems like he didnt want to say stuff on camera(??in the margin??), only off record. So in fact we have nothing. It got my hopes up though.

PS: Why all the attention for livery when we got these interviews?

"Things like a livery editor will cheapen the game down to Need For Speed level."

This has to be one of the funniest things I've ever read here.
GTR2 allows skin customizations.
So do GT Legends and rFactor.

Are they cheap need for speed-ish games too?
Oh sorry, "simulators"

as long they have Zent SC400, and Amemiya GT300 Rx7 , i could care less about livery. to me, Pd shouldnt waste time on a option that maybe 10% of their fans care about. while the other 90%, actually play gt to race and collect cars, and also improve on their skills.

but to make a decision on buying a race car game, because they do not have livery and marketplace. only makes me wonder, why do you buy racing games?

What else do you hope to find out about the game? I think we have allmost all the information needed at this point.

Not when a large batch of cars only come in a few colors (Lancia Delta Integrale, many of the Alfas come to mind) and when you win cars that you can't choose the color on.

Why even have true to life color variations for cars if you can just paint any of them a hot pink?
I thought this was a simulation? Remind me this, in real life can't you go to a shop and have your car painted whatever color you'd like?

Forza 3 is a classless game that lets you do classless things like like rewind the game or desecrate fabulous Ferraris and Lamborghini with tasteless designs and images.
On the contrary, it lets you do things like paint your car the way you want and allow you to have your own race team and color scheme.

So just because there's a large amount of cars, it means that there can only be a set variety level?

Good point. "En marge" means outside the interview or on the periphery of the interview. So basically he got the info during a private conversation and not in the official interview obviously.
I'm sure Kaz is reluctant to talk about it because it's still a work in progress and maybe even PD still not 100% sure that they will include this feature (probably due to the impact on performance, framerate etc)

Earth is right. Livery editors are cheeeeeesy, like swiss cheeese.

I would have guessed day/night cycles in GT6, but I am real happy about this revelation.

Lastly, I am also upset at the fact the cars and tracks are done and we have to wait for the other stuff. Why cant they just sell the game at full price, and give damage, and whatever else they are working on as DLC? Why not use high-speed internet to their advantage and start making money and pleasing the customers? And before anyone says not everyone wants it that way, nobody is making you but the 65% completed game.

I'd rather wait a few more months for a complete product, than buy a half-baked mess today. ;)

Are you serious?!?

How about definite confirmation on:
  • Weather
  • Night racing
  • The total number of tracks and what those tracks are
  • A livery editor
  • Body kits/modifications
  • License plate customization
  • Online features
  • PSEye features
  • The total amount of vehicles

Just a few things we need definite, irrefutable confirmation on.

License plate customization? You've made my day, Black Chamber, thanks! :D

Weather and Night Racing have been confirmed. As has #5 and On-line, as has track figures and amount of cars...

I've been playing Prologue again, man, If PD released this game today the way that it is I would be more then happy. G25 plus GT5 would equal pure driving bliss for me. If they put in a tuning system that allows you to fully customize and tune your car I'm more then happy with that anything extra would be added PLUS.

Why not?!?

This feature [weather] has been mentioned by Kaz himself many, many times in the past - even recently during the Audi R8 interview. If they have it done - then they should put it in. PD knows we all want rain in GT5.....and night racing. :sly:

Earth is right. Livery editors are cheeeeeesy, like swiss cheeese.

I would have guessed day/night cycles in GT6, but I am real happy about this revelation.

I am not a big fan of livery editors either - but if PD includes one in GT5, I may not use it at all - but at least the option is there for others that are interested in it to utilize.

GT6?

I firmly expected this to be in GT5 from the start - and especially now after all the talk about it from PD and Kaz himself. Rain & Day/night cycles better be in the game! It's been forever and we still don't know for sure.....this is stupid.

How hard is it to conduct an interview? I interviewed Harry Gregson-Williams regarding his MGS3 soundtrack and I spent 2 1/2 hours with the man - had a great time and asked EVERY question anyone would ever want to know and in the form of the question anyone would ask him that knew their stuff. My point, is that it was my first major interview ever and I managed to do it right - but some of these IGN and Gamespot guys are acting like schoolgirls and total amateurs with their Kazunori Yamauchi interviews and they have been around doing this for years!

I gave a response before you read my post.

You could wait while I am racing
You wanna buy an incomplete game, that's fine, but I don't! ;) Besides, that would be a very unprofessional move from PD/Sony - it's more like something that I'd expect EA to do. :yuck:

Um, unless i missed something, Night and weather are NOT confirmed and sounds like a livery editor is not either. Did anyone watch the IGN video?

I read your post, don't worry. ;) But as I said earlier, it would be a very unprofessional thing to do and not very good PR for PD either. Do I really have to explain why? :boggled:

I still wonder what the major advancemt was, maybe it was the release date?

Now I'm disappointed, why? because I'm more confused then ever:confused:

I wonder what would GT5 look like with weather / day and night cycle? Imagine going to Nurburgring at 12am with 5 feet of fog visibility and you see some dead Nazi walking around. Daamn!

What about all the people that don't have internet, and therefore can't update the game to full spec? Or what if those updates (damage, weather etc.) are massive in size and take ages to download on a poor connection? Or did you mean that PD should release the 65 percent version today so you could play it right away and then the full game in march 2010?

So in a nutshell, those who don't want to waste their money on an unfinished product should have to wait until next year? :boggled:
