Yes I agree with that, But surely saying a livery editor in a racing game gives the game the most logetivity of any feature is going a bit far isn't it? Surely the most important part of GT is the racing and the cars themselves rather than what you can draw on them.

Don't be mistaken, people are still making photo's of cars in GT4 up to this day. When I was bored with the driving in GT4, no even before that, making photo's of cars in the game was my new "passion", and it increased the longevity by a large margin. But that's all thanks to this forum, where you are able to showcase and "compete" with your pics.

Saw that too. so variation numbers of those courses could be in the hundreds.

I read it as 20 courses, 70 layouts on those courses. (like suzuka west/east, reverses) Except for the rally stages. I think they will put some locations where rally is held in, like finland, and have several stages = layouts. At least I hope so.

There will always be features people want to implement that will never make it to the final version. I personally prefer when priority is given to racing aspects. Livery does not affect racing, so I don't care about it. After all, it's the quality of the game, not its features, that decide the longevity of a game.

Just watched this vid and Day/Night along with weather hasnt been implemented according to this vid.
Sounds like custom liveries wont either. Is telling all these interviewee's something different from the others?

I think some people in here are just making up ********.

With a livery editor you get things like this:

I simply don't want to see that in a GT game...

My Fiancée speaks French and here is her take on the "revelations" translation:

Annalise Pierce
"During an encounter between the two racing lovers as they meet at the sidelines in this interview, we have also yielded some revelations regarding the finished Gran Turismo 5. We have learned that the game will in fact have a realistic day/night cycle and we will - finally - be able to drive in the rain. Similarly, management of tire wear will also be in the game. The amount of degradation will vary, depending on the skill of the driver and also the rise in temperature of the rubber. It is therefore possible to optimize your sets of tires while driving by studying the tire graphic during races, which is explained in detail in the video."

Best. News. EVER! :D 👍

At last, in English too. But still no one clarifies this 20 locations BS, surely someone from a Japanese background knows what Japanese people mean by "locations"

My original assessment stands. The raw Japanese said "More than 20 courses and more than 60 layouts". To me, that's a distinction between real tracks (those that are already courses) and fake tracks (those that have been laid out by the team). I haven't been convinced by any other theory yet.

Im all for that as an option despite much of it being quite distasteful. Ive spent a lot of time in editors like that for a number of games and it would be a very welcome addition in the GT series.

I wonder why he said they hadn't implemented it then in the other video.

IGN said they haven't implemented it yet but they could

WTF! The ign vid, KY says Day/Night and Weather have NOT been implemented. Like i said before, he telling everyone something different?

^^^^ Beat me too it, sorry.

Has Kaz officially stated there will be no livery editor? Or is it still an unknown right now?

I mean personally for me, it's not a big deal, I thought cars with custom liveries in Forza 2 looked horrific. Having said that though people love to personalize things, and if you can paint your car and design it in a unique way to personalize it then that's a good thing and it certainly adds longevity to games. It's like character customization in other games, some people don't care, but others love stuff like that.

Having it in would deffo be a good thing though and above all, it prevents reviewers from saying **** like, "This game has 1000 cars, day/night, and dynamic weather! The physics are lightyears ahead of Forza but you can't draw anime chicks on the cars so 2/10. Fail of the year". :sly:

Can't wait for the first images/video's to show off a soaking wet nurburgring from dashboard view with the wipers at full speed :drool::drool: 👍

Too bad that in the IGN video review he says that they *could* implement it, but they havn't yet - and that it might affect gaming performance.

:grumpy:

There's an interesting answer to the damage question "Will there be real time damage in GT5?" Kaz's answer was "I think once we have the physics calculation engine that will calculate the deformation on impact I think we'll be done".

This thread has the gameblog name on it, but it's irrelevant. Every interview with the exception of the JVM one, gave us answers we already knew.

The JVM interview is the one we should be discussing more. It was made by a professional race driver that KY likes it, so it's natural to have more in depth information.

At the IGN video he gave them an evasive answer to the weather situation, but then afterwards he gave the same evasive answer to a feature we already saw announced on those press releases (head tracking).

I believe JVM even posted things they were not supposed to reveal, but good for us. Sounds good for us, dynamic weather appears to be 99% in it.

Just saw the IGN interview.....

1). 20 locations and in those locations, there will be 70+ tracks contained in those locations. So, is it 20 different countries with 70+ DIFFERENT tracks or just 20 locations, 70 variations? This is still confusing and the interviewers are really being idiots for not clarifying the question and the answer for us.

2). Weather and day/night cycle are a possibility - they could implement them and in a very short time, but it depends on what effect it has on the game. Kaz has stated several times in the past that weather would be in GT5 - he confirmed it in the Gameblog interview and in this IGN interview he says "possibly" - what gives?

3). On the topic of customization being visible on the vehicles he says "Yes it will be visible and it will affect the starting physics and handling of each vehicle" - body kit and mod customization confirmed?!?

Link

When asked about weather in the IGN interview he laughed and looked around. Probably reading way too much into it but his body language made it seem as though those are in the game already.

Edit - He did the same thing again when asked about the PSEye, saying how they are looking into it when we already know it is in the game. His laugh is giving it away. :P

I saw no mention of weather and day/night cicle on the French interview. That info is only on the article below the video; is it true? Kaz was overly diplomatic, answering most questions very vaguely, maybe he just mentioned those features as future possibilities and something - as usual - got lost in translation

1400 tracks?!
It's quite clearly not 1400 tracks whatever theory you use to fill the holes in the leaked info we got from the Japanese site. What gave you that impression?

Good point. 👍

Maybe Kaz has the early onset of Alzheimer's Disease - this could explain how he can confirm a feature in one interview and then say it's merely "possible" an hour later in another interview. :sly:
