Israel - Palestine discussion thread

Something I gotta wonder is why the IDF seems to be killing so many civilians in Gaza
There aren't enough legit info about casualties. There definitely are casualties, but HAMAS propaganda easily multiply them by 2to10. Another big thing is lack of rescue services and proper medicine.
I understand that, but why are there so many protests against Israel, then? Are the protesters wrong?
People believe that somehow Palestinians could form proper state, but there is 0 initiative to do so. Even if Israel somehow vanish from existence, this will be another poor infected with radical Islamism country.
Israel doesn't afford Palestinians any hope of statehood
Its just doesn't work. At best it will be West Bank cleptocraty , at worst another ISIS. Thing should be absorbed by Israel or Egypt. West Bank by Jordan or Israel. Problem is none state want them.

Not so much 'absorbed by Israel' as Palestine and Israel are the same place, and that neither Israelis or Palestinians will find peace unless they can find a way to co-exist. I don't think that simply calling Gaza and West Bank 'Palestine' and to give Israel free reign over changing that whenever they want is what should qualify as 'Palestinian statehood'. Palestine and Israel both need to exist - in the same place at the same time - but so long as there exists factions who believe the other side have no right to be there, then peace cannot happen.

Looks like the IDF are now done playing with Hamas and their rockets. Just now on a livestream rockets flew out of Gaza and within a couple of minutes that neighbourhood was obliterated by the largest explosion I've seen so far.

If I were Biden and I had to choose between which quasi-dictatorship quasi-Middle Eastern country I was going to tolerate the nonsense of more between Erdogan and Netanyahu, I'm not convinced at this point that I would choose the latter. I'm assuming this is just Erdogan making noises again to complain that he's not getting F16s fast enough now that the Sweden NATO blockade is out of the way, but I suppose we'll see.
And I bet you haven't even had Iskender Kebab yet

Arabic population of Israel is fine as citizens of Israel, afaik. Well better than any other Arabians in neighborhood countries.

Erdoganus is effective, Netanyahu is dead man walking.

Erdogan stifles all internal dissent and masquerades as a democracy when it is clearly an autocracy.

Netanyahu has absolutely zero chance to survive next election UNLESS he somehow manages to lead a full eradication of Hamas, Hezbollah and cause a regime change in Iran (he won't). This is ignoring the corruption charges as well, which will further lower his zero percent change.

Well, that's one way to try to turn the tide of public opinion I guess.

I find this a childish image, considering the gravity of what happened October 7th. People of all ages were raped and beheaded and they’re officially comparing the perpetrators of such a massacre to a goddamn imaginary wizard? What a joke.

Funny you say that.

I'm not claiming any relation at all. This literally just happened, and an investigation will ensue. However, I will say that with the amount of certification and background checking we accomplish, particularly in 121 airlines, for somebody to have the audacity to try and cause an emergency on purpose...if that's not some severe mental illness then it's a straight up terror attempt. I just can't fathom. The only way to get in that jumpseat is to be a fully certified and vetted 121 pilot, or be a certified and vetted officer of the company, or be a properly certified federal employee. Those three people up front have all achieved very difficult things to get where they are and should be the most trustworthy people on the whole boat.

Pending the investigation, an incident like this has the potential to cause more waves in aviation security.

And if you're curious what the DA thinks of this lol. That's a big ope.

Turns out that's what it was. Guy was taking shrooms to fight depression, iirc.

So the one state solution. That's something that Palestine has been in favour of pretty much the whole time.

Israel is not a fan of this idea.

HAMAS delegation is in Moscow. Year before there was Taliban(was and is terrorist organisation according to our government).

Israel are on the verge of handing Hamas and their vile ideology a significant but terrible victory, as the IDF have supposedly ordered the Al-Quds hospital in Northern Gaza to evacuate - a practical and logistical impossibility, and a clear violation of international humanitarian law.

Meanwhile, flush with food, fuel, weapons and money, Hamas have shown no sign whatsoever of a ceasefire or taking any steps whatsoever to safeguard Palestinian lives.

I reckon that the Hamas leadership - safe in their opulent apartments in Qatar and elsewhere (anywhere but Gaza, of course) - are licking their lips in anticipation of Israel committing an atrocity on a scale that even Israel's allies will not tolerate. That prospect is dangerously close tonight.

Netanyahu is not likely to change tack any time soon, and yet politically he is a dead man walking - and indeed, his comments from 2019 about "bolstering Hamas" and ensuring that they thrived in Gaza being "part of Israeli strategy" can and should haunt him to his dying day. Nothing can excuse what Hamas did on 7th October, or how they treat Israelis and Palestinian civilians with equal contempt and utter disregard, but similarly Netanyahu deserves to be recognised for the incompetent, corrupt war criminal that he is. No wonder the place is in such a godawful mess with these people in charge.

Save The Children commented tonight that Israel have killed more children in the Gaza strip in the last 21 days than have died in all war zones globally since 2019.

Turkey and Qatar will protect Hamas leadership at all costs and Israel is truly in a no-win scenario. The question will be if Hamas inspires other factions (ISIS, Hezbullah or Al-Qaeda) to go target Jews anywhere in the world because they are Jewish.

Maybe Israel should start dropping pamphlets over Gaza showing how the Hamas leadership is living in the fancy desert, getting filthy rich over the backs of their supporters.

Perhaps that might persuade the Palestinians to not be so Hamasy.

Contains some Australian language. Censored, but still very Australian. Not suitable for wee ears.

It wouldn't surprise me if this was the plan all along. The only way Hamas/Palestine gains any power over Israel is if Israel commits some act so unspeakably vile that the rest of the world suddenly can't be on their side any more. It's the tactic of goading the bully into hitting you hard enough that it does real damage and maybe the teachers finally take notice and step in.

Which is awful and you'd think that Israel would be the one nation on earth that would absolutely not fall for that trick given the history of the ethnic people that make up it's majority, but I guess humans gonna human regardless of history.

I also suspect that if Israel does bomb a hospital it probably won't change much. If Israel firebombs the entirety of the Gaza Strip and wipes out two million Palestinians, does anyone step in to stop them by force? Maybe, maybe not. Maybe it's just thoughts and prayers.

Shares coordinates so the Israelis dont bomb a hospital you built.

Instead Israel takes the coordinates still bombs your hospital.

Shows once again what untrustworthy nation it is.

Let me guess Muh Hummus using the hospital as a Base.

Did they actually bomb the hospital this time or does it turn out to be another parking lot?

It looks like reports are that the hospital is "damaged", not sure what that means exactly. But I haven't seen it on western major news yet.

I doubt anything happened to that hospital. There's still nothing, no chatter, no images or video.

However, what is happening currently is that the IDF is obliterating another part of Northern Gaza City.
