Jay-Z told the Big 5's Natalie Jamieson he wants to run for US president

Jay-Z says he may run for US president but that people will have to wait eight years before he takes up the role.

The rapper was talking about the American midterm elections and President Obama's term in office so far.

< Cue laughter >

I don't know if what he said was taken out of context, or if he was joking, but all I'll say is no one is voting for him in the event he does decide to run. If he does, by some miraculously-tragic circumstantial happenstance, becomes President - God help us all.

Discuss, please.

Just like Obama I would say a large portion of black voters would vote for him just because he's black.

Or, since he was (is?) a rapper, they'd figure he'd help them out without batting an eyelid. You know, because he's mad tight or whatever?

I seriously hope he was joking because if he wasn't, the entire political campaign is going to be a joke.

His plan as laid out is impossible as we won't be voting on a president in 8 years.

Regardless of his bad math, I think he would have a hard time being taken seriously. Than again California did elect Arnold and we(Minnesota) elected Ventura.

Jesse is an entirely different story, well, in my opinion. As I don't live in Minnesoti (That's right, "Minnesoti") you could give a better outlook than I ever could. This, on the other hand, reeks "America is now a joke."

Exactly. 👍
Just because of that little irrelevant detail. Age, color, they don't matter. It depends on the person's personality.

Jay-Z's first order of business: Sell all the cocaine in the DEA.

He's not a businessman....he's a business, man!

He couldn't be any worse then the current clowns we've had.

Oh and Kanye West better be the VP so he can interrupt world leaders and be all like, "Yo man, I'm gunna let you finish but America is the best country of all time! You digg?"

I suppose that under him America might have 99 Problems...

Personally, I don't think a person who has been a rapper for over 10 years, would make a good president. If he was grateful, he would probably donate a lot of his hard earned millions or billions (how ever much this famous rapper has) of dollars to congress, to let them use that money for a while (or just a week for the congress who would spend it all in a week's time), to also cut down the economic crisis for a good period of time with the highly donated money from Jay-Z.

This is actually terrifying because 80% of young people, whether black in the hood or white in the 'burbs, would vote for him.

We can only pray that Ron Paul gets elected for 8 years, and then Rand Paul gets elected for another 8. If Jay-Z is still rapping 18 years from now I will **** my pants. And then buy his album.

I on the Ron Paul train too Keef!

You should probably change the ** symbols to a 🤬 emoticon before a moderator sees it. They will think you actually put the curse word in. I know because it happened to me before and I got a warning for it.
Just looking out for you.

Jay-Z has been rapping for over 20 years. He started back in the late 80's. And he's nowhere near a billionaire, in 2009 he was reportedly worth $150 million...no small amount of money but he isn't going against Bill Gates anytime soon.

Oh, and he does give money to Congress every year...like the rest of us do with taxes.

Is it wrong if I would vote for Kanye just to hear him to do such things?

"Hey Kim-Jong, I'm gunna let you finish, but Russia had one of the best dictators of all time."

Hell. No.

Nothing in that interview made sense, the interviewer couldn't put together a straight sentence, whatever Jay-Z said made absolutely no sense. I just...I just fear for my future now.

So you're advocating higher taxes then, especially on the rich? That's not very conservative of you.

I'm advocating higher taxes on Jay-Z, the one that has half a mind.

Just playing the old joke boat jokes.

"Hey Sarkozy, I'm real happy for you, and I'm gonna let you finish, but Beyonce is one of the best first lady's of all time. Of all time!"

Seeing how he alreadys meets the Article II requirements as prescribed by the constitution then there is nothing to stop him then.

I'll assume you mean other than his stupidity?

stupid or not, not matter how you look he is well qualified for the job. In fact I would likely vote him over some over Ivy Leaguer giving the fact they have been the ones ruining this country for the longest.

Yeah, and someone who couldn't even handle running a company is the perfect candidate to run an entire country.

Um, what? Being a rapper and running a country are quite different things. Leadership isn't exactly an easy task to just "do." Hard choices be abound. And he isn't exactly highly successful as a business man.
