LCC Rocket Super Lap

I love and I hate Suzuka. It is such a great track - so rewarding when you do right and so unforgiving when you do wrong, especially in a car with only mechanical grip. I've been struggling to set up the car and learning the track at the same time, but now I think I'm getting the hang of it.

I've managed a time around 2:04 with the tune below. I should be doing better - the last chicane is a bit...umen.

Install all upgrades esp. power parts, including high turbo
Ride Height 85/85
Springs 4.60/5.80
Dampers Compression 3/4
Dampers Extension 4/3
Anti-Roll Bars 5/4
Camber 0.0/0.0
Toe -0.10/0.10
Brake balance 6/7
Gears: ,3.930,,2.502,,,1.944,,,,1.582,,,,,1.319. Final: 3.810
LSD 12/27/5 edit: 12/5/9
Ballast 196kg
Ballast Position 13%
Weight 586kg, Distribution 42:58
Power Level 96.2%, 322bhp

(I am still adjusting the LSD a bit - will update the above if I find the magic.
edit: saw what @Motor City Hami suggested (13/5/18), now happy with 12/5/9.

So after many many laps I've pretty much given up trying to achieve gold (2:13.000) with the stock Rocket '07. My wrist was killing me. I was only able to reach 2:14.586 and could consistently get high 2:14s. I then tried to up my HP by 1% to match the dealership's stated 166 HP (instead of the 165 HP they give you the keys to :grumpy:) and was able to gain 1 second reaching 2:13.585 and consistently reaching high 2:13s.

I tried the 5 speed transmission which comes at 530 km top speed instead of 520 km and any time I made up in the straights was lost with all the turns where acceleration is more useful for making time given you have to slow down enough to not lose grip with the SH tires.

I abandoned that idea and tried an oil change and the extra power is not very useful: I reached 2:13.404 and could consistently get high 2:13s. So then I abandoned more power.

Then I tried the Twin-Plate Clutch Kit (3,100$) and was able to get consistent low 2:13s and eventually managed a 2:12.962. This clutch definitely gives you noticeable acceleration boost and gains me about 2 seconds on this track using an automatic transmission.

My verdict: I think PD might have been serious when it said this car's "gear ratios are too short for the course". [I wonder if someone who has access to the Japanese text description might give us a translation to see if the English indicative (i.e. statement of fact) is accurate here.] I wonder if someone who can drive standard faster than the automatic transmission might be able to reach 2:13 stock?
Racing Brakes are a big help, yes adjust the trans but only to 165 mph or so, not all the way to Max. Also lower the car a bit and stiffen the springs and shocks. I'm a DS3 auto trans type and would say this is a medium difficulty TT. The Lancer snow TT is much harder t

Almost pipped Samurai for 2nd place with exactly the same time he has now but i got flagged for slightly cutting the left hander before the infamous chicane lol. Anyway i managed to get into 3rd place but i know i can get a little extra out of this great little car :)

How is the leaderboard going? I'm not able to fire up the PS3 until monday afternoon, damn PD haven't set the leaderboards in their web yet.

Thank you, great time there. 👍

Here's my setup, hope it helps.
note: I have recently changed the ballast weight to 175kg so full turbo can be added. Gears set to 186mph and i have put the front camber to zero and ended up being a second quicker. Everything else is the same.
No wonder why. :D

I should give this a go soon. Even though the hood camera is way too low for my liking on this car. I'll see what I can do with Crank's setup. :D

This tune may not be for everyone, but it works really good for me and how I like my cars to handle. It took me longer than usual to work out the tune for this car, but once I got this cars handling figured out, it became a blast to drive. Good luck everyone. Peace, and as always, stay fast my friends.

Update lol. Samurai's just put in a time of 1.58.715. Unbelievable!

I'm not surprised. I believe times will start dropping as soon as more people realize you can add full ballast to this car and still be quick. The full ballast doesn't hurt in the corners as much as one might think due to the cars' already low curb weight. It still accelerates quite quickly. Somebody said earlier in this thread that full ballast would hurt acceleration and would prevent a quick lap, or something to that effect....that's just not the case, at least with this car. Full ballast and all engine upgrades, including high RPM turbo. ;)

I like your tune, Cargo. I'm still playing with it a bit. I had to dial out about half of the toe. It was just way too much for a late braker like myself.

I just compleated a total over haul of my tune, I pulled a clean 2:09 but have seen 2:04's that I just touched a bit much on a corner.
I'm sure there is more in it.

@GTP_CargoRatt thanks for the tip on the ballast :) worked amazingly well.

You just hang on to your panties there Princess , I'm still trying to figure out that great tuning sheet you made for me. :dunce: Once I get it filled out, how do I get it into this thread? Its been a long day and I'm getting ready to go horizontal, so I will post the tune tomorrow.

Had a crack at this one using your tune Cargo, thanks for posting, and after a few laps I am 2 or 3 seconds behind you on 2:04.9.
Found it quite unstable under braking and couldn't remember how to correct that so looked at Praiano's tune and noticed he didn't have a large negative toe like yours so changed that to +18 and -4 in front. Mucked around with the height just a little and with the brakes but basically it's your tune which has put me in 330 spot, for now.
Will be interested in seeing your update.
Didn't think I'd like this race with this car but I'm certainly warming to it, started with no tune at all and at about 550PP and did a 2:20 I think straight up, around #45,000. Not good enough.
But I do like this track, it is actually the track in GT where I learned to corner, and then loved to corner, before that corners at speed were a thing of fear.

Just did a 2:04.484 with your settings. Many Thanks!
I use pad and directional buttons for steering.

Got a 2:00.654 with you tune Cargo, which is good for 30 overall, and 1st in the US at the moment:dopey:

Thanks:cheers:

I believe that they are not going to put the classification the web page...They are interested that we initiate session in PSN to see the rankings...I wait to be wrong. Is it possible to do something, not?
