Ford Roadster Hostage Crisis Day 261

With the return of the 1970 Nissan Skyline and the 1973 Porsche 911, every car that appeared in 2022 except the Suzuki Escudo (which held the previous record of absence and has appeared once since early August), the Dior version of the De Tomaso Mangusta (twice, though its first appearance lasted from its late-August introduction through January) and the Toyota Celica Rally Car (twice, with its first appearance in mid-December), has now appeared at least three times since the Ford Roadster was last available on 8/23/2022. Further, the 3 cars that first appeared in February 2023 have all made their second appearances, signifying that new additions no longer make their second appearances a month after the first ends but where they would slot into the regular rotation about 2 months after their first appearances end.

Since the Roadster sold out on 8/24/2022, not counting the Trophy Three (Ferrari 330 P4, Ford Mark IV and Jaguar XJ13, which appear a month after selling out):
  • 4 cars (the aforementioned Escudo, the Porsche Carrera GTS and Porsche 959, both of which first appeared in March, and Jaguar XJ220, which first appeared in April) appeared once
  • 5 cars (the aforementioned Dior Mangusta, Celica, and 1973 Porsche 911, along with the Citroen DS 21 Pallas and Honda RA272, which first appeared in February) appeared twice
  • 50 cars appeared 3 times
  • 14 cars appeared 4 times
  • 1 car (the McLaren MP4/4) appeared 5 times
@Nenkai has found that the same bug that afflicts the Roadster afflicted the Escudo, except PD has yet to see fit to put the Roadster into the rotation or add it as a "HOT" car outside the rotation.

I'm glad I nabbed a Roadster when it was initially available - I never would've known about this issue at the time. I eventually even won a Voodoo engine for it.

I ALWAYS purchase all new UCD and LCD cars immediately after the update that puts them in the game for this very reason. I usually buy two of each in case one has a swap or I want to widebody one etc.

For me, I don't mind waiting for the cars that only come in one paint scheme, which includes the many race cars and Pebble Beach winners. I also don't mind waiting for certain road cars if they could come in a color I'd prefer, such as the original Shelby GT350R - I'm waiting to see that one in not just white, but also with both sets of blue racing stripes.

I understand that, I too prefer certain paint schemes and colors on most cars. I’m just saying sometimes it’s better to have the car of any color than not have one at all because this type of thing happens where you potentially miss out for months on end.
You can always buy “the one” later, or repaint/download a livery for the car you did get if you really hate the color that bad. I know they’re not usually as good of quality as what PD makes, but sometimes it’s better to have something decent looking, even though not perfect, than nothing at all.
Sometimes the wait for your desired color scheme could be 14 months and still not have shown up. All the while you could be driving around in it just with a different color that doesn’t impact its performance or sound.

I bought the Mercedes 300SL and repainted it to Weissgrau. It changed the interior to black in the menus (which I prefer) but when I'm driving it its tan with graublau

I will take if it's in your way. I mean I can't see the '29 Mercedes being any better yet, there it is. Me just being a hotrod lover I guess.

Seriously PD, I will take 5 right now.

Is it useful somewhere the jag d 54 guys or should i save the 6 millions for something else ?
Am not on the collector side and am just avoiding very expensive cars unless can be used somewhere or serve other purposes, cafe menus, etc.

It is not "needed" at the moment, so if you have still cars to collect for extra cafe menus, three legendary cars trophy or else, I would not advise to buy it, unless you grind like a crazy billionnaire 😅

I've got my 20 million saved up waiting for the McLaren F1 road car to reappear, well, I did have until the D-Type turned up, I'm back at 18,000,000 now but a few more miserable repeats of the grind races will soon sort that.

If there were more ways to grind, I think I'd actually quite like the way the LCD works. I like that the cars are expensive and not always available, makes them a bit more special. Needless to say I'm really looking forward to my first drive in VR in the F1 :)

with nearly 500 cars, either it is a full time job, either you have to pick some of them, particularly when they are costly

Why do you need to collect all 500 cars as soon as possible and make a „full time job“ out of it?
I just bought the D-Type and set some Nordschleife lap times with it, made a custom race with the Maserati and the DB3S and just enjoy driving it, it handles very good and sounds great.
The purpose of having these cars in this game in my opinion, is to drive them, enjoy them, not just collect and then grind for the next one. You are missing out on something really good here.

I guess one side to that argument is they keep increasing the prices. Eg. the Porsche 911 GT1 Strassenversion which went up by around 6mil credits in one update, and the McLaren MP4/4 which is rumoured to increase by 2mil credits with the next appearance...

Waiting on the jag for the platinum. Still got a few other easy trophies to get. Gave up taking the 100 photos one at about 50 😂
Meanwhile I've taken 1307 photos (according to my GT 7 profile) ... :guilty:

What's the easiest way to see which trophies you've acquired, without logging onto the console?

Yeah but I personally rather go risking to miss out on them for a while and enjoy the cars I actually own, instead of making a game into a full time job where cars turn into numbers that I need to own and not machines that I want to experience.

I guess it's a balance of how much time (long term) you intend to put into the game and how much completion you want to achieve in that time...?
