I must say I never saw so much being done for the banning on one member. And especially when said member isn't even permanently banned.

What a waste.

I thought he was permanently banned. He was only banned for a week before he created new accounts to try and get around it, thats what landed him a permaban. Thats the way I understood it, I guess they just haven't got around to changing the log yet.

No, as has been said by a number of the Staff, and by Sage only a few pages back in the very thread, the final status of Doug's ban is currently under discussion by the Staff. Until a final decision is made Doug is on a Temporary ban, and once that decision is made we will let everybody know.

Two things.

1) Doug’s status (tempban/permaban) is mostly sealed as far as the moderator staff is concerned; however, we are still in active discussion about it, so I won’t say anything official until we come to a solid consensus.

2) For those of you speculating on why he was banned, keep in mind that a ban is never (except in extremely rare cases) for one thing. A ban is the result of cumulative offenses.

When one door closes…another opens. Rise up fellow GTPers and fill the gap. All it means that some of us will need to step up and contribute in a positive way. Things like his pictures probably made us lazy anyway. It was more like what did Doug see lately. We really don’t need all the Drama that he brings for the pictures he provides us with. Per the repeated tantrums he has been a part of you can guarantee that he WILL do it again if given the chance. Good luck Doug and maybe you can find a new home on some other forum.

As for the mods out to get someone, have a look in the opinions threads. When presented in the right manner you can really challenge a mod and they will not take it personally. There is a right way and a wrong way to tell a mod his head is currently located near the posterior end of his body. Done the right way you can be yourself and have your opinion yet still all live together in harmony.

I suppose that is the battle in the 'evolution vs. creation' thread with Famine and other mods. Am I right?
 
I'd like to mention that (IMO) it is unfair to both M5Power and the Moderator staff of the GTP to judge this event before the events have been fully disclosed or acted upon.
Furthermore, I'd like to agree with many others here who have commented on the irony of an uproar regarding this matter when the situation was not even that of a permanent ban.

Finally, I'd like to say that I hope this serves as a lesson to all of us in that; we must not judge situations before we know all of the facts and we must atleast attempt to respect both the organization of the mod staff as well as the basic's of GTP behavior- the AUP and TOS.

Thanks for hearing me out and please remember to be patient regarding the matter at hand.
As the moderators finalize their decision the public of the GTP will be informed on any pertinant information. 👍

If anyone is active around here for long enough they will build up a little fan club of sorts no matter how well they are liked.

I can't see what he has contributed to the site in the past year or thereabouts so if he's gone I betcha it will all be forgotten (even by his little fan club) within the month... While at one time he was actually funny/thought provoking lately he has just been making the same unfunnny claims again and again or posting pictures of boring Bentleys.

He is still doing that? I remember back in the day he use to put up some very interesting claims with cars or at least that is what I talked to him about. . .

maybe I was a little off on what I said. . . I was trying to get a thought on the forum that probably was not presented in the proper form I was looking to present it by. The basic sum of it goes like this. If you voilate AUP you should not be here. I don't know the extent or why this happened, I just showed up right as this started.

No wonder he never private messaged me back when I asked him what times of the day were best to see these exotics and where about in the city. I was there again today since I have to see my doctor there every Friday.

I never did get a PM back. I really thought it was crazy he took 100 pictures of exotic cars in one day. Sorry dude, I'm there quite frequently. The city has some very nice cars, I saw many today even. Not 100.

So, I guess there's no oil?
 
Great post, Kent... As level heads prevail, I'm sure a lot of us will get over it. My guess is that a lot of people reacted because it was a prominent member that a lot of the 'regulars' interact with on a daily basis.

Oh well... I'm sure a lot of us have learned at least something from what went down...
 
I don't know how a guy that lied his way through GTP managed to get such a fanclub.

Only other guy that could have done this is OJ Simpson. Amirite guys.
 
One time, he threatened that B9 Tribeca would find me and make short work of my face. I immediately called the police, and to this day, I cannot sleep through the night. With the mastermind behind bars, perhaps in time, I can come out of hiding, and express opinions about cars I like.

Oh well, the "Did you see anything good today?" thread will be without its weekly fix of Rolls, Bentleys, Ferraris, and the occasionally rare as hell car.

Came back a year later and he was a 17 year old kid debating getting an automatic car for going to college. Quite a change from rich, upscale Nissan Marketing guy, with a family.

Lying through one's teeth will eventually catch them, though in this case, it seems to be an exceptional amount. That and the attitude.

Though I am with few others on why this is causing such a commotion. Questions regarding banning don't normally get this big... if I recall correctly.

That's true. Perhaps Doug was a bit of an icon, a roll model that some of the other members aspired to. "Look, he can talk down to people and not get in trouble....that's cool." This example is completely fictional but unfortunately all to close to reality.
