Dont have to,your a smart baseball fan, along with everyone on this thread. I figured you would have reliezed it is a misguided statement.

The AL East lack of pitching over the past few years is not a misguided statement. Its true.

The AL East this year, aside from Tampa Bay (2nd) and New York (11th), are ranked in the bottom 15 in ERA. Last year, three were in the bottom 10 in ERA.

2010: 3 in the bottom 10 in ERA.
2009: Yankees were the best in ERA, at 12th of 30 teams.
2008 was the last year 3 teams were in the top 10 in ERA.

Now 39-85. Stuck on 39 wins. Astros went from a 4-0 lead early to a 13-5 defeat. I'm not even sure we'll get to 50 wins. 50th anniversary of the Astros, and this golden team is absolute bulls:censored:. Almost as if this 50th Anniversary team is an extreme disappointment on the 50 years of this franchise. If that's true, when I hope the 100th Anniversary team in 2062 plays a hell of a lot better than this current Astros squad.

Don't worry, you're going to come into New York and sweep us.

Colorado has been playing a bit better of late though.

And New York has been doing NOTHING. Although McHugh looks promising. If that's going to be a trend we may have a better set of young SP than we originally thought.

I only hope the Astros can at least make an attempt to get to 50 wins. I've lost confidence in this year's team that I am not even sure this team can even sweep any team or win series. Baseball can be such an unpredictable sport. Some games finish close; some others are beat downs. The worst team in the league can play like they are a championship-winning team. The best team in a league on its worst day can play like a doormat. But still, I don't see this one being an Astros win. I'm not even sure if the Astros will even win a single game. My confidence... okay, I'll say it like this- I have more confidence in Arizona winning either the NL West or a Wild Card spot than I have confidence in my Astros winning 50 or more games to close out the season.

Still- that's why we play the game. I won't follow this series, but anything can happen.

So Christian made an insane catch last night but hurt his wrist on the play... So he goes to the DL and the Giants bring up Francisco Peguero. He struggled this year a bit in AAA but hes his 300+ every where else including the mega pitching friendly Eastern League.

What a crazy game. All 8 runs scored with 2 outs!!!

AGonz got claimed off of waivers by the dodgers?? Anyone else hear about this?

Yes, and its possible that he could go there for a few prospects (and not their top ones if LA pays all of the remaining contract). LA could acquire both A. Gonz and Lee by next April. That team would probably be the best over the Yankees by a good margin.

The question is if LA pays that money. Thats a lot of dough, but i guess the new ownership groups wants to make a splash. Definatly an interesting story.

It isn't going to happen, Red Sox don't need money relief they want prospects in which case are out of luck. What few the Dodgers have they don't want to give up.

Yeah I was going post a link to MLBTR but didn't want to edit or double post.

If it goes through they are doubling the payroll and giving up the farm for a good 1B a failing overpaid 4th 5th starter. And a corner outfielder who won't play till 2014, has speed little power, doesn't walk, K's a lot and only has one good year but is owed a ton of money. Oh and hes moving to the NL West where his HR rate will be cut in half.

Oh and Punto. A old UTL that can't hit... Dodgers love those.

Gonzo is the only good piece of the deal, but he is owed a ton of money and has struggled in a hitter friendly park/division. He did do better with his hometown Padres. Still, hes not getting younger. But he would be replacing Loney/Rivera, who just about anyone is better then.

Lots of money for players on the downsides of their career. Red Sox would be fleecing the Dodgers.

I hope Prosthetic chokes on his next meal. And what I mean is, I'm surprised that this division race isn't giving me anxiety attacks. I truly feel confident that we still have the advantage despite the first home sweep by the Gigantes since '08. In '08 we went to the NLCS. This race is a blast.

How do you start Crawford, Kemp, Victorino and Ethier? #LargeMarketProblems

I'm super scared of Crawfords career 105 OPS+ in hitters parks. And Shanes 102 career OPS+ in a hitters park. Kemp and Ethier sure killed us a few games ago, I don't know what were going to do.

And where the hell were all the Doggie fans last series? Dodgers front office in full panic mode. Have fun with the worst minor league system in baseball and a bunch of 30 sums making $20+ Million a year and under performing.

It was 3-1 in favor of Houston in Flushing, NY. Win #40 for my sorry 2012 Astros. We won! Bloody hell... we won! Which means it's time for a little, uh...

*happy dance*

Now it's time to see how many more wins the Astros can get to salvage this long-gone season. As an analogy, even I stuck to my Houston Texans the season my favorite NFL team finished 2-14. Thing is... I could watch my Texans; I can't watch these Astros. Still, a win for my Astros is a welcome change of pace. And I quote...

"It feels good to be a winner, doesn't it?"

Crawford is done for the year.

If this trade indeed does go through. Does this mean Valentine has another year with "his" players? Does this shed some light on the source of the leaks?

Pitiful game tonight, getting shut-out by the Padres. :yuck:

I'm calling it right now. By the time this homestand is over, we'll be out of the picture for the NL West title. Not gonna happen. I wouldn't be surprised if we only win 2 of the next 5 games.....at best.
