Yep, it's a GR8 event,, once you figure out how to get thru the first chicane and up the hill to pass the second car on the right (ideally before he slips to the right and cuts off that slim space),, doing so puts you on a good line to pass the Alpine on his right and boogie around the quick right aligned to pass the 4th car well before the sweeping left. A good job on the brakes sets you up for a fast down hill charge, pass the 5th car on his right - careful,, the right side of the track will yank you off track into the grass - your toast then,, and streak to the finish. Yes it is a tough one and it took me at least 25 - 30 attempts, learning a little each time where the right line, brake / throttle points were, managing the throttle / brakes but once you get it,, its a blast!! I say GOOD ON YA PD for "FINALLY" getting some challenging seasonal's and TT's!!

I agree absolutely. I'm still a bit jetlagged from my China trip so got out of bed at 4am and booted up this seasonal for the first time. Ran the first few tries following the screen prompts for "use this gear now, etc" and left the settings at default. This was enough to get the bronze, then came all the experimenting with available settings, lines and different gears in the corners to discover what others have been saying in this thread. I haven't had this much fun in a seasonal in a long time. Oh, except for the Jaguar seasonal companion to this one which went much the same way.

5 thousandths away from gold after loads of trying... and that's with ASM and active steering, which I don't like to use but just couldn't tame the little excited beast without them.

I'll get my Anniversary edition Stratos out and try to learn the car without aids... not driven a Stratos since gt5 and that was in my ds3 and all driving assists on days.

Try turning ASM off and working more with the throttle. You'll probably pick up some time even if you get a little sideways.

The key is letting the car naturally roll through the corner with minimal throttle inputs. Wait until you have the car as straight as possible before going full throttle.

Hope this helps! 👍

I got gold on this event on one of my profiles, so I quit & switched profiles hoping it would carry over... No such luck. I finally got gold this afternoon, & I refuse to go back. Already owned the car, & didn't need the credits. Just couldn't let it be. Just little OCD maybe...

Got gold on this event after many tries. Like the track, but don't like the car as it's very tail happy (although the interior view is very nice). It's too bad you can't make adjustments to the suspension and LSD so the car is tuned to the individual driver...

Golded it this morning overtaking the final car before the sweeping right hander. Just have to be fast through that furst section i.e 67mph plus on the first corners and keep the revs above 6k in 3rd so above 62-63 mph. Getting sideways on the first chicanes a little and nost of the others won't stop you from getting gold if you keep momentum high enough.

Wow. I struggled with this one. I can't tell you how many crashes I had just trying to get up the hill after passing the very first car - or I would rear-end the 2nd car. :banghead: I finally started to pass car #2 on the left, which is dicey because you're on the grass a bit and risky a DQ. I ended up with a 49.571... Not great, I know. Oh, and I have to admit I ended up turning on AS for this event. I never do that. I'm always an ABS-1 guy, but I was pulling my hair out.

I was hating this until I watched some leader replays. If you keep up enough speed through the chicane and up the hill, you'll be ready to pass the last car at the bridge or beginning of the downhill. Although I'm not quite there yet, I knocked off a second late last night while polishing off a bottle of wine. It's all about approaching the chicane.

I don't remember my time, but I think it's in the low 49's.

I agree! Great fun!:)

I've been able to improve to 48.078 which had me in 215th place this morning.

Can I crack 48 seconds?????:banghead::banghead:

I will try!

See you on the Mountain!
GTsail

Less than a tenth to go... You should be able to find that :)

I like the idea of the event, it just has the same problem that all other challenges have. Some of them you can get by with a proud racing line, most of them are a curb hopping contest. I wish the challenges were about staying on the road, not about how much you can get away with avoiding it. I'm sure the best times would be disqualified in real racing: the real driving simulator.

Why do you say that? Are you saying bricks and rumble strips are out of bounds in real life?

We simply use all the road that is available to us so we can maximize our laptimes. You always want to be as close to the track limits as possible, that will never change.

Curb hopping contest is totally true here as you toss it up the hill. Interesting way to describe it, and fitting.
Yeah...I'm not exactly sure how I feel about pretty much HAVING to go over the curbing in the beginning. At least, I have not been able to find another way up that chicane incline, especially with the way the Lancia will just want to spin out if you really jerk the wheel and try to stay completely on the tarmac.

There is nothing wrong with the line that's being used by the top guys. Curbs are part of the track and as long as you have two tires on the track (curbs included) there is nothing wrong with maximizing the track surface to get the best time that you can. No one is out right cutting corners or otherwise cheating so I fail to see what the issue is. And yes, I know that in real life not all racing sanctioning bodies follow these boundaries but you have to remember, this is a game, not real life. Either quit complaining and adapt to the situation or simply don't participate.

Very true, besides if you go to hard on the curbs you will lose balance which will result in a loss of exit speed. So It's better to keep the balance by not attacking the curbs too much.

48.791, on a roll here but gotta go and spray weeds in the paddock before the rain.

Oh, and just snuck in front of Cargo by 3 or 4 tenths. ;)

That's true but if you have the balls and skill to use the curbs to your advantage, then I say go for it. 👍 Dan (P1) puts on a clinic on how its done with his lap. He always has been a master at using every inch of the track while staying legal. The guy is the alien of all aliens.

I'm in the far minority of people who really like this track. I despised this car in the Goodwood time trial, and I shook my head the moment I realized what track they were putting it on. I'm having a lot of fun with this though. Still working on gold, and I have to take a second off my best time. It's so tough keeping the speed going up that first hill without completely losing the car; I can't imagine what a nightmare that would be in real life with a clutch and manual.
