Had another quick go at this after a willow session.

Improved to a 50.612.

Persevering with the outside line in to turn 1 as I think it will ultimately allow a much faster end time. Just struggling with the entry to the hairpin unless I get a reaaly good exit from turn 1.

Good little event :)

When this line was first suggested earlier in the thread I thought it sounded crazy and seemed impossible. Since then I've watched some replays and it so makes sense.

Now I just have to build up the courage to take that scary but faster line.. lol

Update: Had to take a break from trying the outside line... my skills are not up to it at this stage. If I can manage not hit the first car (and that takes some doing), I always end up in the sand due to lack of braking and gear dropping skill. I have fried my brain enough today lol

The best I have done so 53.261. I know I cam do better, I usually mess up between turns 4-6 near the end. I watch some replays to get a better idea of how to approach them.

Are you guys using the assists? I noticed on the video posted earlier in this thread he had at least one assist on. I've tried it without TCS and that auto slow down thing (I forget the name and abbreviation ASM?). Anyway, it seemed a little easier for me with TCS at 5 and nothing else. Still stuck right under the gold by 1000ths of a second though. Not the greatest driver either though.

The only thing I do is run ABS at 1 because I just can't feel brake lockup in the game. I noticed that the top drivers do the same thing, so I feel pretty good about it. I tried driving with TCS on and it was slower for me, which makes sense.

I normally use zero aids except ABS1. But after 100 fails later I decided to turn that off too, and it did the magic. I golded it and of course the prize car. :D

Of course it did because I'm the one that suggested it. :lol: Glad you are finally able to make sense of it. 👍 Guess I'm not so stupid or crazy after all now, uh? :lol: Granted, its not the easiest way to pass that first car, but in my experimentations before I left for the hospital here, it was the best way to a faster over all time. Get it right with a good exit, and the rest is easy. I'm full of stitches and staples right now, but that ain't going to stop me.:crazy: :mischievous: As soon as I get home tomorrow, I'm on it. :crazy: Yes, I've convinced them to let me go tomorrow, I told them I would take it easy......yea, right. :mischievous: :lol:

Hint for you and all others....

Load leaderboard, select to see the first 10, watch replay.
i did, so i knew where to overtake.

ps. if you think this is hard....How did you do on the stratos event? That one is a b!tsh

one issue. those are usually wheel users and its different for people who use the DS3

No issue. I use DS3, i don't use the analog sticks.I'm not an "Alien" (master GT6 racer)

My hint is were the best points are to overtake the other cars.(they always drive the same when i did it)
First time, i had 170% login, took me 20 minutes.
I put back my savegame after recording and logged in the next day and did the event again at 200%
took me 6 minutes.
yesterday i did it again in my second account and took me 10 minutes.
Subscribers at my youtube watched my vid and commented they got gold.

How i use my DS3

R1 is Handbrake, the rest of the buttons are standard, X=gas SQUARE=brake.
XJCHALLENGE
Steerhelp=strong
traction=2
ABS=5
DS3=5

No joke, no cheat, it takes a while to know how the car handles, but it is possible.

The only hard one is the Chaparral vision, somehow that car, turns more with a wheel then with a gamepad.Only 17th december event i got silver, the rest all gold.

\edit, that chaparral event is fixed with that little update/hotfix on 25th december.Got gold now on that one.

This was a more enjoyable seasonal than the Stratos '73 one. Claimed gold after about an hour's worth of driving, logging a 52.635 second split-time. Onto the Chapparal 2X seasonal!

Had a nice session on this one this afternoon and consistently improved bit by bit...

50.545, 50.508, 50.463, 50.393, 50.363 and finally to 50.311 for 17th

I've got the outside line nailed now and the make or break for a good lap is the exit from turn 1... get out of turn 1 well and you catch the 2nd car early enough to take a fast line through the fast right left.

Lost around 0.1 in the final section on my best lap, so still a bit to come.

49's are :crazy: though :lol:

Gave the Jaguar another thrashing:)

I've been able to run a 50.790 for 95th place on the Leaderboard.:)

Boy, the AI always,always take the racing line that I want to use!:grumpy:

I feel bad about all the times I've rear-ended the other pricey racing cars.:ill:

See you on the track!

Isn't that what I said way back at the beginning (post #23) of this thread. :P Guess it just takes a top guy to validate what I say now. :rolleyes:

Just in case you missed it.

"That's literally the worse way to take that turn if you are going for a top time. Take the outside lane, passing the first car on the outside before the turn. You should meet and pass that car right at the beginning of that concrete on the outside. You will then have more speed going through the hairpin thus catching the rest of the cars a whole lot earlier than you would taking the inside of that first hairpin. That concrete that I'm talking about can upset the car if you brake too heavily, but if you get it right and come out of that hairpin with some good speed, the rest of the cars are easy to catch. You should be passing the last car on the inside at the end of that uphill section just before the left handers there."

Another event where I wimped out and turned on AS. :irked: I dropped a 52.560 after about 15 attempts. I watch my replay and just wince at how terrible my driving is.. :lol: Not smooth at all...just throwing time away. Thankfully I squeaked out the Gold Medal time.:D

Good but frustrating event cannot get gold even though I've passed the finish in front several times. Seem to losing a heap of time in turn 5 the tight right hander at the bottom of the hill. Can be well ahead of my best time up until this corner !! Any tips welcome. Seems more people are struggling with the Stratos challenge which I got within .005 after a few attempts and soon golded it.

Mitch, my Gran Turisbro, we know. Relax friend. Heel, and don't worry so much.

Cheers mate.

Yea, thanks friend.....just frustrated, that's all. My apologies.

On a positive note, managed to improve my time here today, stitches, heavily medicated and all. :crazy: :lol: Down to 51.323 from 52.158 before I went into the hospital. Bad news.....girlfriend left for a bit and now I'm stuck in my Playseat. :lol: Guess I'll keep playing till she gets back. :P I feel like Tom Hanks in that movie "The Money Pit" when he gets stuck in that rug in the hole in the floor. :lol: I thought I seen the Care Bears a while ago. :lol::lol:
