Here you go. Time: 1:02.639
It's hard.

Good on you Tango, it is hard I know, ridiculously so. My time is a 1:03.2 or there abouts, I must admit I sacked it once I'd got gold. But 1:02.6 looks tempting, I've got to have a crack at that (Don't go any quicker in the meantime will you?)

Cheers, Zo.

Ugh. This one. I love the track, but I don't race on it very often, and I love the car, but its handling is absolutely appalling.

I'm sure it took me about 30 tries to even get to the bottom of the hill, and when I was in front of my friends racing lines (their fastest time was a 1:02.9) I didn't brake enough and went sliding off of the course.

At the end of that day, my time was a 1:04.7xx. Not good.

The next day, I tried again, and in a matter of about 10 tries, I was crossing the line with a 1:02.6xx. I have no idea how I did it.

I got myself a Carbon Huayra at the end of it. I was thinking of selling it, but I guess I can use it to commemorate my success.

Just want to confirm exiting instead of restarting seems to be the fix for avoiding freezing. It eats up a couple extra seconds but it is what it is.

Managed to gold this after probably 30 tries. When I noticed that I could still get within gold time without needed to pull off the crazy overtakes necessary to post a competitive time, I calmed down some in my attack and managed a 1:03.483 (or something close to that....can't be bothered to double check right now).

Fell in love with the pretty curves of the Huayra all over again when I picked the bare carbon body color. Looks 🤬 fantastic! Also I'm surprised how much extra power you can jam in to the car and still manage to have a relatively solid drive. Expected it to just constantly spin the wheels and oversteer in to oblivion at over 1000hp but it kept its head.

Which one is the carbon body color? Was it special to the prize car and I overlooked it?

And i thought the Lancia Stratos challenge was hard... i just can't figure out the key spots to pass the lotus.
Just watch the videos that have been posted. I recommend @TangoR34 video. I ran a similar 1:02.6xx lap (however I used aids!).This shows where you need to pass the vehicles if you want the gold.

It is the very last one on the right hand side of the color list. It will even say Carbon as the color title. It is a little tricky to really see the pattern in the preview though, it just looks black, until you drive it or zoom in with the camera.

Stuck at work, keen to try it when I get home. These challenges always make me think of a car key, you know, like what Cory said...

- pass green Lotus on the left
- pass black Lamborghini on the right

Etc.
Lol! A car key? Isn't that how the mob used to deliver "packages"? :)

1:03.421 after 1 million tries...

Thank you guys for posting the videos and the explanations, you helped me a lot even if I've never had so much trouble on a seasonal so far. But quitting with silver is just impossible!

Must be the car. I like the Pagani Zonda road cars a lot, but the Huayra :yuck::yuck::yuck:

I totally didn't even read that after I wrote it :D. After doing this challenge, it seems that such a key would be of no real use, as different people will be faster/slower in each section. I gave up trying to pass that Lambo on the first left, and the second right, and passed it just before the big left turn...and still got a pretty easy gold. Guess I'm faster in the last sections than I am in the first ones.

I have managed to get myself to within pretty much exactly one second of the gold time. This one is tough. It seems that luck is what gets me passed the green Lotus, if i even get that far. I've also noticed the game will allow a minimal side contact with various cars...

I feel your pain, I'm stuck at 1:03.503 & I can not shave the .004 off to save my life. It would appear if I want that car I'll just have to buy it.

Edit: I guess I needed to vent some. I managed to do it 1:02.857, certainly not going to set the world on fire.

It's good that you made it. I was stuck at .009 on the Lancia challenge but finnaly got it. These are frustrating.

I had trouble with it until I learned the trick. To me, it's about letting off the brake and coasting down that hill, passing the Lotus on the left in the process.

Flipped over to my other profile took 3 attempts... Go figure, I changed from 1 on my traction control to 2. I guess I need to slow down to go faster...
That kinda makes sense. Like in music, less is more. Lol!

Edit: 1:02.993! :) now off to the AMG one....

OMG...this one's sooooo hard on DS3, took me an hour-ish, TC +1, @ 1.03.0## I tried ASM, TC+2, wouldn't work.
The most difficult part IMO is to pass the Reventon cleanly and not overcook the very high speed right at the end of the long straight, once you pass the Enzo othere, just keep it clean and outbreak the Aventador.
I only managed to finished the lap twice, first time @ 1.03.6## and the second time I did it. LOL
Truly, practice makes gold :)

Oh, it also made me realize, A: Huayra accelerates really hard, B: Huayra understeers because of A (heavy thumb), C: Huayra can brake pretty well, D: Never floor the throttle on uneven road surface. :D

I chose the black carbon finish for the prize. I love that car although it gave me sore thumb in this challenge :)

Yeah mate, don't settle for just silver.

Don't brake too hard or too much as you approach the downhill esses section...brake lightly as you enter esses, then it's lifting off throttle to shave off speed, but keep the revs up by controlling the throttle...this keeps the car momentum up as you negotiate the esses all the way to the start of Conrod Straight...stick to the optimal racing line as much as possible where grip and traction is best, letting the car run, lifting off to slow down...lots of time is lost when wandering off the racing line when going downhill at Bathurst.

Hope these help...doing just enough to get a Gold time.

Thanks for the kind words. Maybe I was not clear, english is not my mother tongue, but I did get gold with 1:03.421. Just enough, as you mention.

But I'm sure your great videos and advice will help other players, thanks for posting.

Maybe part of my problem with this seasonal was fear. I was too nervous about hitting the walls and the other cars. As soon as I decided to calm down, breath, remember it's only a game, it became easier and I finally managed to gold it.

But your driving style is better than mine! 👍

Cheers!

I really should have started trying this event sooner. PS3 keeps freezing! I've managed ONE run when I've reached the finish line and I was 0.3xx short of the Gold. Ugh... This is definitely the hardest even thus far. Why, oh why, did I wait so long to even try it? I'm going to be bummed if I come up short...

EDIT: I did it!! :D It was only my 3rd pass over the finish line. My first was a silver medal time. I was 0.104s short of Gold on my 2nd pass and then on my 3rd pass over the finish line I posted a 1:03.094. I can live with that...It's Gold, baby!! :dopey:

Now, do not interpret this as meaning it only took me 3 tries to get Gold. Far, far from it.. Hah! :embarrassed: I crashed dozens of times. Most of the crashes were just trying to get past the very first car. Anyway, if anyone is interested here is how I did it. I'm sorry I don't have video (no capture device).

1) Pass Car #1 on the left
2) Pass Car #2 on he right (I don't have the guts to dive bomb thru the left side)
3) Pass Car #3 just after the kink. Essentially, I let him hit his brakes first and I shoot passed.
4) Pass Car #4 on the very last 90' left hand turn. Our cars actually rubbed, but I got my nose inside the corner first.

The best advice I can probably give you in this particular event it. Don't even try to go fast. Just let the car move along. Once you get passed Cars #1 & #2 then it just becomes a sprint to the finish line. Try to do a few runs where you get passed the first car and then just concentrate on how the suspension & tires hold the car together.

Cheers mate, sorry I mis-understood your post. Wise words with the calm down & breath advice...too much thinking has the habit of messing up a good lap.

Forgive me, but how do you make such awesome video's?

Hi there mate, thanks, I am humbled by your comment:cheers:

The following, in no particular order, contributes to my video making ;)

Thanks for the reply. Your advice about how to manage downhill is so right. I used Bathurst as a test track yersterday to try a new car, and I realized that I know much better the driving line now.

Brake hard but in a straight line on the first overtake by the left of the car. Then overtake bettwen lambo right and wall and just pursuit the others the fast you can... it isn't easy but it's possible

Wow this one was the hardest by far for me. I was very consistent getting low 1:04 times but it required some extra luck to finally get gold. Managed to pass the Ferrari on the esses and after that just kept very close to the Lamborghini to finish second with gold time.
Think that I did a total of 300km before getting gold

First, I think I'm pretty good at the GT series, and you make me look bad, so yes, great job there!

Second, I was meaning it literally, how do you make such a nice video and present it here?

1. Save replay on GT6 game
2. Download on a flash drive
3. Upload to...
4. Host on...

I'm a bit lost!

Being a complete newbie to gran turismo again, (last game i played was gt3) I was quite pleased to find myself winning this challenge haha. Thanks to this thread i decided to give it one more go to win this flashy car and watching those vids and the things you guys said helped me a lot so cheers guys

What's really gauling me is that I consistently pass the Reventon on the right, earlier than some of the people with sub 1.03 times and have still not got Gold and still seem to lag behind the yellow Enzo afterwards, with no obvious errors. So I'm struggling to see where I'm losing time. Best so far is 1:04:500. I will do it before the event expires or I will throw my controller away. Takes the p!ss that I have done the hard bit faster than some Gold winners here. This is the most frustrating thing I've ever done on any GT game. I can only think I'm losing time on the right hand turn after the long straight.
