Polyphony Digital partnership with Ayrton Senna Institute announced

Sony/PD isn't in this to provide for charity, they're in it to make money, and yes, they do have to make a profit from each and every DLC.

Sony PD are there to run a profitable business indeed. Whatever the branch, it is highly recommended to make your product stand out from the competition. Apart from intrinsic product quality, there are also tools like marketing and branding. These can often turn into costly investments. From time to time however, they materialize in clever and smart ones.

Also, here are four terrifying avatars of legendary racing drivers which appear in this game once.

Maybe they will go the extra mile and reanimate him for the purposes of advertising the game, like that laptop ad with John Lennon a few years ago.

I find this announcement deeply concerning given the way PD handled several licences in GT5. By looking to provide content related to Ayrton Senna, it's seriously deep water that PD is stepping in to.

There is absolutely no excuse for PD to mess this up as this partnership could make or break the GT series.

Utterly complete and total hyperbole. :)

Can you imagine the backlash from the Senna/F1 diehards if PD cock this up?

And that is why I'm glad Kaz and PD planned to release it as DLC. As I said before, this gives them time to work more on its content. I'm confident that Kaz won't fail Senna, especially for the fact that Senna himself inspired Kaz to create Gran Turismo in the first place.

To be honest, I was quite surprised to know and hear that from him. :)

PD have had years to work on that...

GT6 will have a large day-one patch. GT6 will not have improved engine sounds over GT5 out of the box (I fail to see the point in the outcries here personally). And they reportedly have been working on GT6 solidly since the release of GT5.

Sorry but GT6 doesn't look like a finished game. And if they can't even release a complete game which they have been working on for three years (complete with a base like GT5) I'm genuinely worried about the quality of any DLC. GT5 proved this, with the bimonthly content which, surprise surprise, failed to materialise.

It would feel incomplete if they can't license the F1 cars though. Follow his career but only up to Formula 3, then just pretend the rest didn't happen.
Historical revisionism Poliphony Digital edition:

Ayrtona Senna drove a Formula GT.
Not a McLaren, nor a Lotus, and Alain Prost is just another B-spec bob driver.

They've failed NASCAR, WRC, Jeff Gordon, Sébastien Loeb, and Sebastian Vettel. What makes you so confident?

Well. The fact that Ayrton Senna inspired Kaz to create GT, is what makes me confident. Is that a sort of problem?

GT5 was hardly worked on is why all those content failed, plus PD had waaaaay to any to work on either content as well...

Do you really need to ask that question? He (somehow) didn't even know who Senna was the other day, now he's singing PDs praises for including him in the game.

Hm, what else inspired Kaz to make Gran Tursimo?

Cars. They've also failed to model the majority of cars to a decent standard in the game.

Don't forget, Kaz said in an early GT6 press conference that they will have new tracks "monthly", yeah monthly, no joke. If he's talking about real world tracks that's one hell of a commitment, if he's talking about PD designed courses, not so much. If we have to pay for them all, say $4.99 it's not much but if you add it to other car, course maker, Senna etc. DLC, we're talking over $100 per year. Not much for a working man/woman into their career, but not insignificant for those just starting out, with families, lower income, students etc.

As much as I'd like to get behind you on this Toko, history tells me otherwise. I'd like the Senna thing to be over the top, balls out fantastic, but history has yet to prove that PD can handle this type of thing well. When they do, they'll get all the backslapping and high fiving in the world, until then, most of us will remain skeptical and with good reason.

Lol, guess I missed that. Well, that explains it then.

Okay well that one was Kaz's choice. :P

No worries, it's all good to be skeptical. I won't lie and will say I'm a little worried too.

Uhm.. is that supposed to be some kind of bad excuse? I mean, everything that has been done in all GT titles was Kaz's choice. He's the game designer of all the games in the franchise and also happens to be the president of Polyphony Digital.

NO, it is not a excuse. I'm serious... :grumpy:

I'm guessing Toko meant it was Kaz's choice and the responsibility for that choice lies exclusively with him, good or bad, however you feel about it, because people have differing positions on the inclusion of standards in GT5/6.

He'll probably think I'm fanboying or something... But thanks for giving out a better standing post, unlike mine. :)👍

Just don't understand why a few in here keep hitting on TokoTurismo? Give the guy some slack and room for his enthusiasm and opinion!

This. Now I know how Ten D feels.

But why pointing out such an obvious fact? Again, everything that makes it into a GT game, makes it into the game because Kaz chooses to include it. That doesn't make his mistakes any less mistakes though.

I'm confused.

It's not like Kaz failed to implement Loeb, those challenges were quite cool. I guess he "didn't have the time" to make it a major part of the game...

It's the internet, nothing is obvious. Even the obvious is not always obvious to everyone. It's explained, it's over, move along.
