Good morning America! Hope you all got what you wanted... and if not, there's always next time.

Looking at the voting split you can't help thinking that Obama must count himself lucky that there are so many people on or below the poverty line in the US otherwise he'd never have got back in. ;)

Did anyone in the UK see Sky News this morning? Nice to see one of Romney's campaign team taking it so well. Basically he said - live on air - that Romney did everything right and gave all the correct messages and it was the voting public who were wrong in their choices. Way to go! Perhaps that's one of the reasons you lost...

David Gergen is an idiot. Romney didn't win because he wasn't conservative enough. He is a robot-- Kraftwerk Americana-- and exactly the same as Obama in almost every regard. If these two were Nabisco Newtons, Obama would be Socialist Strawberry and Romney Fascist Fig. Same big gov cookie. Romney lost the election after the foreign policy debate because he wanted to be just like Obama and then some.

The GOP needs to align itself with Ron Paul philosophy. It'll go extinct if it doesn't embrace those ideas.

The problem is voting demographics. It's not so much about the policies anymore as it is about likeability. If the next Republican candidate has a Kennedy-ish charisma, he can sell America on anything. (Of course, the policies on immigration and abortion (the comments on rape certainly lost the Party a crapload of votes) directly affect specific demographics. Just ask the Floridans.)

But the Tea Party thing certainly weakened the Republicans as people jumped ship. Moving just a bit to the left would bring the party back together. Or right. Pardon my Pol-glish, but it's confusing which direction the party is going in. I like the idea pushed by some that the rest of the Party branch off to form the Fiscal Conservatives.

Feel sorry for you guys. Looks like four more years of economic doldrums. Ready to surrender to the invading Chinese Army yet?

...Next step, repeal ObamaCare. Or at least make it so that it doesn't hurt small and medium scale enterprises.

This is my biggest gripe. 0banacare is killing the US economy.

It affects me personally.

Incidentally, if promising to stop Bush's wars (and failing to do so) merited a Nobel Peace Prize 8 months later without any actual action, can we look forward to Obama getting a Nobel Prize for Economics shortly?

I know its the wrong topic, but here are many users with great insight in politics, so my question:

Did the Clinton administration a better job then Obamas so far?

The economy was messed up long before the Healthcare Reform.

And while it affects all of us, I can't imagine you are really being affected by it right now since most of the stuff doesn't even kick in till 2014.

Honestly didn't expect that outcome. 4 more years of this buffoon. :scared:

Now I'm seeing polls that the hurricane was the major deciding factor for the undecided.

Just goes to show that there's no real difference between the parties, if something like that can hold any sway.

Well, at least all that can happen if I move to Mexico is be captured, tortured, and beheaded by drug cartels.

Deadlocked government is a good thing. It prevents bad policy from running rampant and guarantees what does pass was done so with consensus. A single group with full control is very dangerous.

The way I see it, politicians hardly ever bargain with each other on policies for the good of their electorate. They do it more to hold on to power and to get plum positions/ministeries.

Oh well. 4 more years of both parties going straight down into flames - Democrats are using the jet, Republicans are using the steam engine.

🤬 politics and political parties, never going to agree and never going to get anything done.

Wow... do those two phrases have nothing to do with each other or what... unless you mean "back on track" to economic collapse.

Yep, the president who gave America TWO credit downgrades because he has no clue what the word "budget" means now will be able to issue executive orders willy nilly to do almost anything he wants. Should be one hell of a ride, reminiscent of the fall of the Weimar Republic. I wonder how many people will want to serve as ambassadors for him?

What are you talking about, no matter who the president is we should try to get back on track.

Stop being so negative.

Sandy affected the polls, because of Federal aid and responsiveness.

One interesting statistic... Obama wins heavily with women. I guess linking "rape" with "God's will" doesn't poll well with women. The bigger problem being that the Republican Party oddly didn't distance itself from those remarks...

And this is why having one group in full control is dangerous. Deadlock slows this process.

It's hard to be positive when you know that no matter who won on track is the last direction we are heading.

So let's look at the practical implications of this, because I hate believing campaign promises that I support, and I hate believing campaign promises that i don't support.

Here are the highlights

Obamacare isn't going anywhere.... but was it going anywhere if Romney was elected? I don't think so. So, no change there.

Ben Bernake's job is probably safe. Was Romney going to put a competent person in his place? I don't think so.

The Bush tax cuts are going to sunset. Could Romney have prevented that from happening? I don't think so.

Obama will push for the Buffet tax or similar. Will it happen? I don't think so.

We may get into a tangle with Iran. Would Romney have tangled with Iran? Maybe.

All in all, I don't see anything resulting from this. It's possible that we could have gotten a better federal reserve chair, but I wasn't holding my breath.

In other news:

National votes for Gary Johnson: 1.1m
Barack Obama's margin of victory (as of now) on the popular vote: 2.6m

In other other news:

Looks like my state legalized personal use of marijuana.

I like how that South Park episode from 2008 is relevant again.

Also, I know it's not about the presidency, but MN voted down the Voter ID amendment.👍
