There's some weird balancing going on in general. My center channel is an absolute BEAST and yet the sound is sometimes pretty quiet coming out of it in cockpit mode.
Old center channel for scale:
I'd say my gear is more than up to the task and the fault lies with T10's audio engineers
Dude, I'm not even on a digital surround system (8-speaker 2.1 digital stereo set up), and my sound system does not come alive the way it did with FM5.
My engine isn't as loud and hair-raising, I can't hear cars around me as well as I did in F5... even the reverb, environmental and wind noise effects were more noticeable and impressive in part 5.
Oh well, just can't have it all.
On the plus side, some engine/exhaust notes have been mixed exceptionally well. However, I would kill to see individual volume sliders, particularly ala' FM4, where you can set the focus on engine audio (without noticeably drowning other sounds though).
Sim steering was actually a little better on 6 than 5, but to be honest, the One controller just hasn't got the fine control of the 360's analogue inputs, so I switched back to normal. I'm fine with that, because the physics are still realistic, but you actually have a chance of catching slides now, as you would if you were on a wheel.
I was pleasantly surprised at how forgiving pad sim steering is, this time around. And I absolutely love it! The additional grip is more than welcome.. and the front wheel bite is more convincing.
I'd recommend keeping the default deadzones however, as setting them to 0/100 will see the driver taking very long to go to the desired lock level around those sharp bends... Indianapolis or Daytona, i.e.
I just put the code to get my 10th Anniv cars. I only got 9. Sucks that it only comes with the digital pre-order. 👎
That's wierd... you should get 10. I got the disc version - it says "ten year anniversary edition" on the cover. While we're at it, let me make sure it's got 10...
