They might had thought that he stole the cars

I think they should only ban people who go into public lobbies with them, or even better, patch the game so that you can't enter a public lobby with a hacked car. That would make everyone happy.

I want the racing online to be legit, and I certainly don't want suspicion of cheating to tear leagues apart like it already has, but I also had a ton of fun driving a shifter kart, offline of course. I think most of the mods are stupid, but something like that? I think it's great. I know it's not an excuse but PD are idiots for not giving us shifter karts. They added 3 karts and some how they didn't think shifter karts should be on of them? That's just pure stupidity. Sometimes I really don't know what goes on in their thick heads.

Even still, mod cars do not belong in racing. If you want to cruise around with some stupid mod car, go ahead, but the people who brought them into public rooms and cheated really deserved to be banned

Just allow for Hp/kg and pp to be set at once. League racing solved. That allows drifters to keep being the way they are now, and allows hybrid enthusiasts to chill and race together. It is also pretty damn simple to implement, and should have been implemented that way from the start.

This is the kind of confirmation a lot of people on this site needed to see. Thanks for posting this. This is as a lot of people suspected.

Haha wow cars with drivetrain swaps are getting banned, the drifting community ain't got time for dat banhammer

No, the cars with drivetrain swaps are only getting banned if you're going onto drift/time trials. Read more closely.

I think the current Bans should be viewed as a warning shot. I'm willing to bet there is something else on the horizon if people wont knock it off.

Haha that's what I was trying to get at, most people on here if they ever go into the drifting trials probably use hybrids to get their money and use it on something else

Where does cheating start? If someone sticks to the rules of the game, it isn't cheating.

Most modders are simply enjoying the game and extending the experience. Many of the so called noobs have been playing since the original game. I was accused of cheating before I even knew there was modding. Now, I simply wait to see talent level. Good public rooms don't care if you run a hybrid car as long as it isn't obvious.

That's not true. There are some rooms, Example STI Vs Evo. Someone brings in a hack that can out run any EVO or STI. But they sandbag. It reminds me of something my boss once said. " We have sandpaper here, It's about a penny a sheet. We also have a few tools that are about a grand each. Now If you steal either I'll fire you and have you arested" Cheating no matter how little is cheating.

Well in this case, the boss says "If you steal sandpaper it's okay".

I encountered hybridized cars for the first time when racing online last night, and even though the people driving them were bad drivers and i managed to get second in a race around Nordschliefe, i was still hoping they'd one day be banned from GT5 Online.

Let me repost this for anyone who missed it or misunderstood it:

Ban test from NGU
1. Hacked Red Bull 2m HP. Raced various seasonal event races possible. Account Status: NOT BANNED
2. Used secret menu to change/alter my guest name and flag. Account Status: BANNED
3. Hacked Redbull 2m HP. Raced in time trials, golded all. Account Status: BANNED
4. Hacked Nissan R34. Did various drift trials. Account Status: BANNED
5. Hacked car in open lobbies. Account Status: NOT BANNED (added by me - there's enough evidence)

If this is unclear to anyone, it shouldn't be. These are what they are banning people on after the notice.

If there is another notice then this might be changed, but until then this is the latest.

Well in this case, the boss says "If you steal sandpaper it's okay".

No boss ever says that. And in this case, it's not okay. And you bring it in my lobby you get kicked and reported, Then blocked so you can't cry in my inbox.

Did you set limits in your room or is the room simply STI vs Evo? What tips you off to it being a hack versus a good tune? I'm curious because anything that I've modded and tuned for a specific limitation, runs in the same ballpark as any of the other cars at that limitation, but then again both the STI and the Evo are slow cars and leave a lot of room for improvement with PP limits.

I like using the game's rule set. I set the PP or hp/weight/tire restrictions and then let the chips fall where they may. That way I don't have to police people. When that happens, I've never seen an issue.

How do you know they're sandbagging - do you watch the replay?

I agree, realistic hybrids have breathed new life in the game for me although some people dont have the means to obtain them like myself besides trading & giving an arm & a leg for them. PD should patch in a modding dlc pack to mix & match engine, chassis, wheels etc GT 5 is a great game dont get me wrong but it could be better!!!:indiff:

Wow like a boss.

You're the first person to suggest that this be patched in as a new DLC. I think that would be a good idea from a marketing standpoint - perhaps they would need to win over manufacturers to get it to work, and that would require a bit of money. If they were charging for this as DLC, PD would get more money for GT6, the manufacturer's that allowed it would get a nice cut perhaps for the licenses to do it, and PD would know if it was popular enough to include in GT6 (I know it's already popular, but companies go by sales, rather than fanbase community sites like here).

But it might not completely eliminate hacking - some hackers have already hacked the DLC cars/paints so who's to say that they won't pay for it and still do engine swaps anyway.

Yet I reckon the only way to tackle this "virus" as some people have called it is to make it official. Have it in-game.
