Should PD have let the modding slide? ... OP Updated.

Should PD allow this activity in GT5?

will read it all eventually, but wanted to coment now lol..

I think the modding is stupid, unless you want to grinde the oval track on endurance and maybe do the nurb endurance then you can make the cars faster than the AI anyways, so the mod would be pointless and where would the challenge of the seasonal if you pawned it in like 2 AI laps..

dont get me wrong its cool, but ruins online when nobody gets to finish the race because of an A-hole as ive experienced... you'd think these hackers would do something about the sounds than super sonic speed crashing into everything. wasted illegal talent if you ask, might as well get a job.

Maybe you should check into the people who create realistic real life replicas of either their personal cars or cars like in Formula Drift/D1GP.
It just seems like you might have been looking into the unrealistic swaps with a completely pointless almost arrogant amount of power in them

I put a video of realistic hybrids doing their thing on the OP (and below)

When they are made like these, there is NO reason for them to be frowned upon.

Nice video. Great drifting.

I wish I could drift like that lol

You should have read it all first. Cranking the HP up to a quintillion is a small fraction of the power.

Think of it as unlimited DLC. For instance, today I saw a magazine testing an MX-5 with a corvette engine. Now, I can come home and make one to play with in game (if I so desire).

Thanks for the nice comments! :)

I know this sounds extremely cliche..... But I'm going to start making a bunch of Gran
Turismo (and other racing games) videos.

Racing with GTAcademy Drivers
Realistic vs UnRealistic Hybrids
Race Recaps with commentary
Drift montages like that one ;)
and other GTP series coverage.

That sounds awesome! Your work is always top notch, really looking forward to what you come up with 👍

Don't hesitate to drop by the NEMESIS team thread and give us a shout if you are looking for drivers for any drift vids )

Thanks man :)

I'll be sure to keep it in mind, and will almost definitely take you up on that offer.

I voted to "Only punish the people that ruin online experience."

Now, the above is actually a loaded statement....
I highlighted the "online experience" because I feel it is only the online Seasonal Events that would suffer.

I think if they are in private lobbies/rooms with the owner consent, they should be allowed online. 👍

In my opinion (read = mine :) ) using them for Seasonal Event's is indeed unfair. No two ways about it.
But if people choose to use them with friends online, I don't really see a problem. :indiff:

I'll admit I'm pretty slow to the party with this topic, having only found that modding was going on a little over a week ago....:guilty: and no, I do NOT have any modded/hybrid cars in my garage at this time...though that could change...
I still have a hybrid TVR (?) in an old game save from GT2/3 (?) that I got from a friend years ago.
Not much fun in the twisties, but geez, in a drag race it was nearly unbeatable. I think it's record was around 2.8 secs for the quarter. :)

The trouble is, how do you stop performance mods without stopping the so-called 'harmless' mods..?

Basically, it seems to be an 'all or nothing' scenario.

IMO, I'm sorry, but the harm done by secretive modding (we haven't been able to spot it easily, but subtle 10PP or so hacks pose a much greater threat to the 'level playing field' that is online racing than any 1,000,000HP X2011) far outweighs the loss of some more realistic engine swaps and cosmetic hacks.

The way to get these features into the game is to ask PD (repeatedly, incessantly!) for them, until they become game features. But hacking them in opens the floodgates to things FAR more deleterious to racing...

how does a 10PP hack pose any threat whatsoever? PP is still factored whether it's been hacked in or changed in game...

I wonder how much time and money PD is sinking into closing this "loophole" for GT6 right now.

Just because its factored, it doesn`t mean its balanced.

Without hybrids you had -i just make up the numbers- a pool of 50 road cars which were able to reach 580PP.

Hei
What h is trying to say is that pp is pp. He just made a car from a lower tier, the BRZ, competitive in your class. It was also quite a tight track. The BRZ should have a slight advantage there. It's still fair man. It's still not as fast as a LFA or a R35.

Alright, International waters it is :D.

This game is like 3 years old and some people still don`t get the PP model.

A question:
Is a SL55 AMG as competetive as a Ferrari 458 at 580PP? No? So what makes you think that a BRZ, which DOMINATES the PP range it was designed for, is balanced at 580PP?

Because it was a hybrid. It doesn't dominate. I was saying it was fair. PP is pp.

Because a low powered car dominating the 400pp range doesn't mean in the slightest that if you double/triple the horsepower and lower the weight or whatever that it will do the same at 580 PP. Particularly not when there are already cars that basically walk everything at that level (and have since the PP system was introduced) that the BreezeFreese would then need to compete with.

exactly

Making a car "better" is relative. It's just like tuning. You have to find a magic combination that makes a car work well. THEN, you have to go tune it on top of that. It's almost an art form :)

Notice how the car had to be about twice its original size. With what we have in GT5, its unrealistic.

However there are these beasts about that are possible in GT5 (ok the 360 isn't in GT5 but you could use the F430?)

I'm tempted to have a go at the Ferrari powered Pulsar and the Viper 240Z myself.

No such thing as a 10PP hack. Whatever you do to a car in modding, other than things that don't affect performance like paint, wheels, removing non-aero wings, they are all calculated into the PP. Add grip, you gain PP, add hp, you gain PP. There is no free lunch, believe me I've been looking for it for a month. I've built some great cars, fun to drive, sound great, handle far better than they did before hybriding even with stock chassis, but they are no faster than the fastest cars I had before hybriding.

The only thing that beats the PP system is the dramatically overpowered hybrid, which is easy to spot and can be countered by random HP checks.

I wonder how much time and money PD is sinking into closing this "loophole" for GT6 right now.

Same response as above. The PP system works for hybrids. I've made 50+ hybrids for circuit racing, not a one is anything better than the best cars I had before. They sound better, they handle better than they did before hybriding, but at the cost of HP. No free lunch in hybriding.

I concur. I have a little less than 50 hybrids now and I've fixed hybrids for others who thought they might beat the system. Instead, they built a car that was undriveable.

I will add though, that there is one way to beat the system and that is with the super soft racing tires. Again, easy to spot. Just highlight the name of the player you suspect. It will show what tires they are using.

The best car you can build for competition and for enjoyment, is one that no one can point to as being a mod. There is a lot of misinformation floating around from people who don't understand the workings of the system. I'm hoping that this next patch does not "fix" what is best left alone.

I saw you enter that room I was in last night Voodoo, should have stuck around. Kind of funny that I've done all this hybriding lately and stumbled into a room last night with tuning prohibited and you showed up...lol.

Ya, when I saw there was no tuning, I left. Tuning is what I enjoy most about the game, which is also why I love modding so much.

I wouldn't even know what car to choose at 500 without tuning. :scared:

Same here, but it was on Sports Hards and I don't enjoy racing on RS tires so I thought I'd give it a look, then realized it was no tuning. I struggled for 5 minutes to find a car that was untuned and found a BMW M5 for the first race and it ran well. I could only find 4 or 5 at 500PP and ended up in a Zonda C12 at High Speed Ring and the lone female called it out as a "race car", which it obviously isn't, as we lined up on the grid, so I let the field go by me, got caught up in a big wreck (heavy damage) and then left. Good bunch though.

Usually when I'm on between 9-11 I end up in a hybrid friendly room so follow me into there if you want.
