Woah wait.. standard cars may not have updated physics... so it might be like racing them in GT4.

Dude, stop imagining things. If they wanted to make cheap money like that they would have incorporated that with GT5P and sold for 60$ or after or before GT5P do that and sell for 40$ with all GT4 cars and tracks in full HD

All standard cars will be great not upscaled from GT4 to GT5 as some guys are thinking and same goes for tracks, physics

This is a pic somebody posted in the general news thread.

Do you think this will be a premium car in GT5? if not they are going to have to model it to this standard which i can see looking better with PS3 graphics.

Many people are pessimistic this day's!! I agre with you man:tup:

reading now, thank you! 👍

EDIT: well, his statement is kind of difficult to put into the correct context without knowing what exactly he was asked. Is there more than just his answers?

Thats what i was trying to tell you, you cant base that there is no cockpit view for standard cars based on this info its to vague.

I think that when they refer to the Premium cars as having a more "detailed interior", it is in regards to having the cockpit-view level of detail apply to the entire interior - like the backseats, rear window, cupholders, rear stitching, seatbelts, etc.

I think that for standard cars, we will have the cockpit-view; but the rear-view "look" option during the cockpit-view will only show us a rudementary back seat area - which is fine by me. :sly:

no we wont get any cockpit view for standard, look to the video, black windows like gt4. no interiors, you can't even see the driver.

I think you're confused my friend...moddeling a whole interior which you can see from outside...from moddeling just a cockpit for a driving view is a tottaly differend thing....

Sorry bro that does not make your argument strong

this is the exterior of the car from gt psp you cannot see the interior view because of the tinted windows but it still has a cockpit view

This view shows cockpit however this is the PSP version im sure they can do a lil better with the PS3

You can even see the driver and the steeringwheel in some of the muscle cars, but that does not mean they have real interiors. It might just be some generic interior behind darkened windows.

Its just bad for Photomode and for those people (like me) that love to drive in cockpit view.

I think some of us is starting to see the light good post 👍

It's very obvious that every standard car in GT5 has an interior, you can see it in the video on the official website showcasing them. You can see they all have a driver inside, and they all have a rear view mirror and a steering wheel.

I'm guessing that the windows are tinted dark so that you can't see that they have no detail however and if I had to make a sensible guess, then we will be seeing GTPSP-style interior views for standard cars. Presumably blacked-out during gameplay.

Ideally though they would use a generic premium-level cockpit that is very detailed for standard cars, and just have it replace the badge on the steering wheel depending on what car you're driving, and obviously have a lefthand/right variant depending on if the car is American/European etc. That's the best solution I can think of anyways, but I imagine PD probably hasn't thought of it.

I'd like to point out that I am solely interested in finding the truth in this discussion. I do not want to force anyone into thinking anything, nor am I trying to specifically find arguments that point towards having cockpits for standard cars.

It's just that nothing I have learned yet is undeniable proof that there will not be cockpits for the 800 standard cars in GT5. The only thing one can bring forward as such proof is this specific translation of the japanese GT website:

Source text: ※“スタンダードカー”はインテリア視点に対応していません。
Translator: http://translation.babylon.com/japanese/
Result: "The ※" standard car doesn't support an interior viewpoint."

One has to wonder however why this single sentence is not on the feature list of the english version of the GT website.

I agree with a lot of the other posters in this thread - I'm going to begin with the assumption that 200 cars will have interior driving views. Regardless of what some people are getting all wound up about, 200 of the "better" cars having interior driving perspective replicated is not bad. How often are you driving the starter cars you've bought in the other GT games? Not nearly as much as the higher end cars I guarantee you. I'm sure they were careful to pick out which cars would benefit from the detail the most. At least they gave us that consideration - and if you know anything about modelling and skinning, you ought to know how insanely complicated the entire interior view is to achieve with such detail.

There are far, FAR worse things that could have befallen this game.

Now if only they'd synchronize special online race events with the real life races going on so we could more or less participate in some capacity within the game. That would be a hell of a lot of fun. :)

Is this my first post here? Can't remember! ;)

My wife is japanese and she translated from the official PD site that standard cars will not have interior view. The reason for the confusion is: the word PD uses, does not have a corresponding word in english and not in german either.

Please excuse any wrong spelling or grammar, cause I'm not a native speaker. :)

If you look at the photos of Corvette C5R, the windshield seems to be darkly tinted

Tell your wife thank you very much even with that its still up in the air.

The windshield does not look tinted at all. The rear window looks fully tinted and his creating a little darkness from the inside.
If you look at the car at a sideview it will seem a lot brighter.

I would still rather much have them cut all 800 'Standard' cars. They don't belong in this game. They don't even par with the environment or
premium cars that surround them. Why do they even call them standard? They aren't even to the times standards. They look completely off
compared to the actual cars and premium models.

I can get over the fact that they have no interior but not the fact that they look terrible compared to everything else in the game. Graphics may be
a concern to me and maybe not you.

For me, this is proper proof that the standard cars will not have an interior view. It is based on information directly from the manufacturer, translated by a native speaker. The past has shown that the same situation turned out to be different in the end, but for now, the only actual proof we have is this, and it is as waterproof as it gets.

However, questions about the missing information on the english GT-website and the likely false info from IronStar remain. It may well be that the sentence is not on the website because it simply was overlooked or taken down because of confusing information, and that IronStar simply confused the types of cars or didn't have enough background info to give a correct answer. Everything is possible.

:scared: :nervous: Please no that's not fair. If you don't want standard cars then don't use them but don't make other people suffer just because you don't like them. I love having a lot of cars in the game because GT for me isn't only about the racing and tuning but buying as many cars as I can. In GT3 I filled my garage easily, GT4's garage was too big for me to fill but it doesn't mean I didn't try to buy every car in the game (until my PS2 got DRE  ).

I'm wondering though, will all the race cars be premium? I was a watching this video and at around the 6:50 mark there's an Autobacs NSX racing around that you can easily see through the windows of. This car was in GT4 though so it should be standard shouldn't it? I wonder if the older race cars will be upgraded to premium and whether they'll take up part of that 200+ ...

Ok, my Japanese man says "standard car does not support the interior visual point." This is a native Japanese speaker; he can be trusted. I'm assuming that visual point means camera angle, and as much as I'd like to believe that the creator of this thread is right, I don't think he is. Sorry guys, as much as I hoped (and believed) that there were going to be cockpits, my hope is almost completely gone.

Great information, but let me argue you here with my points

You said your man said says "standard car does not support the interior visual point."

If you look at this picture

EX Standard Model:

Wouldn't you say in this pic the "standard car does not support the interior visual point." I would. The interior visual point is blacked out by the tinted windows which makes it non matching to its real life counterpart. This is not the case for the premium cars for the fact they are model down to the last stitch.

This to mean still does not mean no cockpit race camera view

I know how you feel but the 'Standard' cars will look so out of place in GT5. My GT4 garage only got up to about 48 cars. Each were personally driven and spent some time in each car.

Collecting cars in Gran Turismo means nothing to me. Driving experience and testing out cars and re-tuning them was the best part of GT for me.

I don't want my garage to be polluted by cars that I driven in past GT4's.
I doubt they will improve the sounds or polygon count. Jeez they still look like they use black lines between hood, fender, doors, etc...

Quality over Quantity any day

About the Autobacs NSX, they remodeled it, also a few cars that were already in past GT's. Just saying it is so easy to tell which is standard and premium.
That is why I dislike the concept of it.

Damnn its like that? the upscaled GT4 cars glorified with the PS3 power are polluted. Damn Kaz has spoiled us way to much. In the end you just have to have a positive mindset, EX yea i don't have premium graphics with these standard cars however i have 800 of them which will be on par with every other racing game out there. with new physics and damage. Thats the way i see It. I'm a Libra that why i'm very optimistic about situations 👍
