Donald Trump has approved an emergency declaration for Washington DC and directed federal assistance to the nation’s capital ahead of president-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration on 20 January.

Mayor Muriel Bowser requested a federal emergency declaration on Sunday in the wake of a deadly insurrection attempt at the Capitol on 6 January, incited by the president and carried out by his supporters in an attempt to overturn results from the 2020 election. Federal law enforcement has warned that additional attacks at statehouses across the US and at the capital could follow.

The Department of Homeland Security has also ordered the US Secret Service to begin National Special Security Event operations on 13 January, moving up three days from the initial 16 January schedule.

Good for him. It feels weird using the word integrity in the context of the actions of a Trump supporter, but here we are. I suspect he feels that winning the Superbowl multiple times (which my autocorrect keeps trying to turn into "superb owl") is more important than some fake award from Cheeto Benito.

Accepting the medal and donating it to Eugene Goodman might have been a more powerful statement though, since the Trumpkins on Twitter appear to be deriding him for "running away" from the mob (instead of emptying his gun cartridge at them?!).

Parler continues to hit 'em out of the park. Their temporary restraining order against AWS has been denied because... well, just read for yourself:

In response to Parler’s legal filing, the judge hearing the case said she cannot issue a temporary restraining order against AWS because Parler neglected to serve AWS with its lawsuit. The judge ordered Parler to do so before 1700 PST today (Monday). AWS has until 1700 PST on January 12, 2021, to respond, and Parler has until noon the following day to reply.

Also it's been reported in that article that the en masse data scraping was not a hack as was previously claimed, but just collection of publically available data (and therefore not illegal). However Parler apparently didn't remove any metadata from posted material that could be used to identify users either by geographical or other means so even though no private data was taken, some folks might still be having a bad time if the internet detectives decide to get wound up enough.
