Update 1.03 (Released - January 14th)

YZF
I just tried it - no, nothing was fixed regarding dark onboard shadows. Still the same. I did an extensive test yesterday, before patch, and i tried the exact same things today - abosulutely no improvements to those inky dark (unrealistic) shadows which cover dials depending on your position on the track

Yes. You are absolutely right. Just tried some of the cars that i had most problems with and their dashboard is still as dark as a standard car in some cases. However, I have noticed an overall improvement in visibility outside the windshield. when changing the camera there isn't a noticeable change in exposure.

But yes. Dashboard visibility needs to be changed. Gauges are pretty much useless in most cars. If the only fix is having the dashboard illumination on at all times, then so be it.

Quick question here, If I have a car with Custom rims will the width be corrected alone, or do I have to repurchase new rims?

Nope, it's automatically updated. However, only the thumbnails of cars will show the skinny rear tires.

Does anyone know if V.1.03 fixed this same issue that the Coffee Break Drift events have?
Although I was able to select 0 ABS, and use the RA in drift events to adjust BB, it would not stick.

No unfortunately it hasn't been fixed yet. This bug effects online and free run modes as well.

I didn't make a conclusion, I shared an experience that this bug does not apply to all tire types. Your first post made it sound like any race with pitstops is affected by this, which is not the case. I was simply clarifying.

Happens with racing tyres and it's more noticeable on race cars.

The rim/tyre width glitch is definetly fixed! I've just completed 5 laps of Brands Hatch, in an Enzo, fitted with aftermarket wheels(painted in Matt Black, of course!) I visited the grass and gravel a few times, due to having recently turned off the racing line(which i've used since GT5!)

Other than that, the car felt fantastic, just as it does on stock rims. Yes, it understeers, but i love this model so much, i just drive around it's problems!

Wrong thread maybe, but the Enzo Ferrari is just majestic. It ticks ALL boxes for me, as to what a supercar should be. And, with the Racing Exhaust, the engine note is SO tuneful. NO visual aids needed to drive in manual.

Thank you

I got a question for some of you (as I'm at work, can't check it myself)

Did PD fixed the Ferrari GTO gauges?

If anyone can check, I'll be thankful. :)

That's a great question. I really hope so. I know for a fact they didn't fix the Shelby GT500's speedometer and it's still reading miles as kilometers. The M5 still has a glitchy windshield HUD too.

Damn. It makes me sad to read those. Really simple fixes. :banghead:

For well over a decade, most games with an online component have been subject to updates. Not all of those updates go smoothly on the first go, and require hotfixes. Most of these games also either use a subscription model, or otherwise find some other way to charge you. So yeah, I can see how this person is glad that GT6's updates are free... I am.
But back on topic: THE UPDATE FINALLY GAVE THE DIABLO GT2 ADJUSTABLE FRONT AND REAR DOWNFORCE!!
Great. The downforce on GT2 is something I really wanted to see fixed and I'm glad PD's done it this soon.

Man, I read that post you linked maybe 7 or 8 times and I didn't notice the first point was a fix in the rims. ( I guess one could argue I read it once). A light amount of gentle violence perhaps.
Alright. If you think it's fitting. I won't stop you.

Just remember that not everything is as it seems to a user. Sometimes what seems like it should be an easy fix is quite difficult to do in code where as something that may seem to be very hard to do may be so simple as changing a value in a single formula. Sometimes things are tied together in such a way that fixing one thing can break 4 more and so on.

I would also doubt that something as minor as an improper instrument on a single car would be very high on the list of things to do unless the exact same issue existed on 50 or more cars. Such an issue only gets noticed by a few of the people who play and has very little impact on the game, where as something like the wheel width and pit stop issues are much more important to deal with.

Personally when I get a report of issues with software I have designed I look at how the issue effects typical usage and then the complexity of locating and correcting said issue. If it is a really simple fix i.e. 5 minutes or so then I will go ahead and do it and include it in the next update. If it is more complicated but has only a minor effect on typical usage then it goes to the bottom of the to do list behind those things that have a larger impact on typical usage. I would imagine that many software houses take a similar approach.

Yes I agree, and if you see my post history I'm pretty optimistic regarding GT in general. I love the game, PD and everything...

I got some small background in game modding, specially racing games and what dictates these tacho/speedo coordinates are basically numbers related to their position... 99% of the time it's just simply multipliers... very easy to mess with.

Of course we don't know what are PD method on doing these, because some of their car interiors are complex, with a lot of lights and working gauges.

Not if you live in a region where the updates aren't available I guess... but otherwise you're quite right.
Even then you just have a choice to make. Buy it in its release form and get no updates or wait until they release a version that includes the updates or buy one now and the other later. Either way it is your choice.

Why would we pay for updates that add things in the game that were promoted and used to sucker us in and only a month before release pd were like oh this and that feature not avaible on day one? So you think we should be happy that we're not paying for stuff we already payed for?

Are you happy we're not gonna pay for the update that brings the course maker after it was meant to be part of the game or B-spec?

No, I was talking about updates that address assorted bugs. But yeah... while I have no real issue paying for extra content (cars, tracks, etc.), being charged for promised features (course maker, etc.) would be lunacy.

My freaking PS3 reboots (with three beeps) everytime I press "OK" after the 1.03 update message comes up... And then it has to check and restore the PS3 system file.

Mine too, not sure how to fix it.

I forget where it was mentioned, but go into the game without logging in for the update. Once in the game, go to Notifications, where you'll be asked to log in. From there, everything should go smoothly.

Although the update is far from perfect, and it even introduced some new bugs(which should be quickly patched), I am just glad that PD is giving us FREE updates. We have upgrades and improvements from the developers at no extra cost. I think it is important to have constructive criticism for the developers, and not just bickering about things you wanted to see that weren't included. PD could go the Call of Duty route and charge us for DLC for all of these updates(thank goodness they don't). Just be glad the company is trying to constantly improve the product!

Hey servicedeprtment my tv is broken. Subs are in german, remote works only if i turn it up side down, speakers sound like a 1920's gramophone and from time to time its smart tv function only shows youtube. I know i had netflix and many other things promised.

serviceguy: No problem, just wait 2 weeks and we will fix it.

2weeks +1 day later...
hey servicedepartment my tv is still strange. Subs are fine, speakers are maybe little better and netflix is back and remote works faced correct. But now i miss youtube, remote works only if i press 2 buttons simultaniously and subs are to small to read.

serviceguy: ok, it will only take 2weeks to fix theese new stuff, all we need is wait for a update. And remember this is state of the art tv so issues are normal. Be happy that you get it fixed.

Me: Really, this game is full of bugs, unfinished, updates are promostuff, sound is never gonna be fixed, new bugs will arrive.
The biggest fault is it was released on ps3 and PD needed to do it for some reason. But to be happy? No!
They deserve a kick in the ass and low sales!
but hey 1.4 is just 2 weeks away :)

Has anyone tested if larger rims than stock have an effect on performance on 1.03?

Fitting custom wheels now preserves the original tyre widths but do larger rims also improve performance now?

I remember when this thread was about v1.03.

In fact, I remember when this thread was briefly not about v1.03 but about complaining about how "unfinished" GT6 was, until a member of staff stepped in and redirected it to being about v1.03 again.

Apparently this is a memory I share with very few people.

Edit: Five entire pages of utter dren cleaned up. There will be no repeat of this.

Just wanted to quote this so people on the later pages can see it. A couple of us got sucked into this argument last night and almost lost us the thread. It was cleaned up and we got it back on topic so lets not get this locked again eh? There has to be a better place to have this discussion.

Well update is out and now the 1.3 discussions naturally turn towards retrospect of what was expected and what delivered and if it was really a necessary update at all to get its number in the historybook of updates. Like a debate over what has happened like after a fotballmatch.

I'm old enough to remember the days when games and software were released full of bugs that never would or could be fixed. Word processors that couldn't print or save, games that froze half way or wouldn't start, arcade machines which developed their own glitches. Hint: It was way before the "I want, no I shall have!" generation and their stealth social media skills came around...

The fact that developers release patches at all should be applauded. Consoles prior to the PS3 and XBOX 360 did not offer this feature at all. Game creators could have opted for perfection at first release, but that is impossible with todays games. My moto: Enjoy what works and hope for a future fix.

PS. If any bugs in any game software are threatening enough to ruin ones life, one need to quit gaming.
