What games are you playing now?

Decided to give Assassin’s Creed Valhalla a second try, about a year after it’s launch. Only played it for 16 hours according to Ubi Club so I’ll just start a new game. It’s gotten a lot of updates in that year so I’m curious to give that a try.

Still playing Halo Reach campaign as well, together with FH5 and HotWheels Unleashed.

For now:

Battlefield 2042 (PS5)
Ghost of Tsushima DC (PS5)
Assetto Corsa Competizione (PC)
Forza Horizon 5 (PC)
Halo Infinite (PC)
Mechwarrior 5 Mercenaries (PC)

ufff. A lot of good stuff these days.

I went on another classic PC games trip, and this time, all racing games.

* I tried out POD (Planet of Death) first. It was a game I played as a demo from an old PC Gamer demo disc. It was pretty cool when I played the full game. I got the Gold edition of this game with extra cars and tracks. The AI tends to be quite aggressive. Sometimes, they'll even ram you into the nearest wall as you try to pass. I haven't yet gotten a handle on this game, but it's pretty cool.

* The rest are all Moto Racer series games. I finally played Moto Racer 1 after longing to play it back when I had my 8 MB RAM, 75 MHz processor PC (the game required 16 MB RAM and 90 MHz processor). It was fast and fun. Reuniting with an old friend, and even though I got the disc to this game, I bought Moto Racer 2. This version is different from the USA version. Yet still, the action was plenty fierce. I logged a good amount of time from when I played this game proper on either my old eMachines PC or my HP PC. Moto Racer 3 was a curious buy because I didn't think I was going to enjoy this one as I did Moto Racer 2. Turns out, it's alright. It's like everything is prettier and a tad more serious. Though, it lacks the fun appeal of the previous two Moto Racer games.

All good so far.

Last week I stopped playing F1 2021 after career mode. Actually I am playing Wreckfest, really funny game, 2-3 times a week i play GT sport daily race and Manufactures and Nation Cup when available. Gran Turismo multiplayer online is my old love, is very intersting to race with the drivers from all over the world.

I took a go at Street Racing Syndicate earlier tonight. It is actually my first-ever street racing game I got on PC. The game looks very nice. However, the driving model is a bit too loose for my liking. Almost as if it is too easy to induce drifts. Pretty cool game so far.

Jumped back on Hot Wheels Unleashed after not playing it for a few weeks. Still just messing around with the livery editor and doing a bit on the single player campaign.

Also, against my better judgement decided to play some Fall Guys, seeing as a new season has just come out. As enjoyable as that game is, it makes my blood boil at times.

Currently playing: Knights and Bikes and Hades;
Finished: Katana Zero, Mighty Goose and Lost Words: Beyond the Page;
Gave up: Raji and Dodgeball Academia.
Since my last post, I've finished playing:

Sea of Solitude
The Gardens Between
Night Call
Unpacking
Unto The End
The Gunk
Lake

I've also sunk 25 hours into Dragon Quest XI S, but unfortunately I don't think I'll continue playing it. I was really curious to try such a renamed JRPG, but it's simply the same formula of JRPGs from 25 years ago. It brings nothing new to the formula and it's almost too childish.
I hate doing this, but I'll probably just abandon it.

I also started AI: The Somnium Files and I'm enjoying that so far.

Other games I keep playing now and then include Sky Force Reloaded, Hades, Skate 3, Microsoft Flight Simulator and Forza Horizon 5.

I've been slowly inching my way through 2064: Read Only Memories on my Vita while sitting up at night with my son and finally finished it last night, or at least got to the epilogue. I actually really enjoyed it! It's very reminiscent of Snatcher, Blade Runner and Neuromancer, the references made to each are far from subtle but the similarities go beyond just the references, the storyline in particular came together in a way that was a lot like Neuromancer and I loved it, even if it's not super original.

I didn't like that it didn't autosave and performed so badly that it crashed a couple of times, losing me quite a lot of progress both times. Bearing in mind it's a simple 2D point and click game running on hardware capable of playing 3D GTA games and Killzone Mercenary that's pretty inexcusable IMO.

The sequel is out next year so I'm looking forward to that, I doubt it'll be getting a Vita release though.

I started FF7 : Remake and I'm not sure what to think of it. In one hand, I really like the subtle change they made but I also feel like it drags too much and if they remake the whole FF7 like this it will take 20 years to have the whole thing. Not to mention the sheer size and balance problem they will have as your character are already pretty OP at the end of it.

Plus I really hate that new battle system, it's definitely not my thing. I'm really a jrpg lover and for me the turn per turn with active atb was really a good feature of FF7, I know lots of people hate it but I personnaly like it and it was part of why I like the FF serie up until 10. (12 was already quite different as was 13).

Got myself Kingdom Come Deliverance on sale, this is a real gem that holds me back from playing racing games. The game doesnt hold your hand, combat is unique, but I really like that every fight is a challenge, the story is also good!

I was gifted Red Dead Redemption 2 for Christmas, so I will be playing that soon. I have been playing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild a bunch over the last few weeks. I am slowly, but surely working my way through the shrines and finding Korok seeds. I have held off finishing the last two Divine Beasts, but have instead been exploring. I have tackled the first of the Trial of the Sword challenges; I really need to do the second and third one. I have also been playing some Animal Crossing here and there.

Pokemon GO, but funny enough, I'm trying to quit so that I can get to the other couple of games on my backlog. I also want to get a Switch so I can get back into the mainline series of Pokemon games, too. Yeah, I'd say I have a couple new year's resolutions, and one of 'em is to stay off Pokemon GO. It's terribly addicting...

I took advantage of the ongoing sale on the Xbox game store, and bought myself Hitman 3. I really love how each game in the trilogy is so open-ended with tons of nooks and crannies to explore, and this one is no exception. Haven't finished it yet, I'm just taking my time with it.

Also downloaded Forgotten City and Firewatch from Gamepass as well. Looking forward to going through with those.

Literally bored of almost everything at the moment. So I decided to get back into Snowrunner. Still pottering around the first Wisconsin map. Noticed the season 2 pass is on sale at the moment but I might hold off. It's going to take a long time before I finish the season 1 DLC.

I've bounced around a few games trying to find the next thing to play, I tried Dex and Shovel Knight then thought maybe I'd start SteamWorld Dig again but wasn't really feeling any of them, but I think I'll finally give Fez a try. I bounced off it before when Phil Fish effectively ended his career on Twitter back whenever that was (a long time ago now!) and just forgot all about it, but it does seem like a fun game so I'll give it a shot.

I'm also very tempted to buy Spider-Man Miles Morales but it's still too expensive for me.

Ye, It was good when it went out but now they successfully made if into something you can spend too much time on because you think you'll always miss on something. I managed to stop playing it but it took me some time.

I'm currently looking for some PS3 game to play.

The FOMO is seriously overwhelming, it feels like there's almost never more than a few days between events. Even though they let you sometimes get older content again - such as using Elite TMs to get Legacy Moves or the recent return of the sunglasses Squirtle for some tie-in with Ed Sheeran - it still doesn't feel like it's genuinely fun. It feels addicting, more than being fun.

Exactly my thoughts. I liked PVP and wanted to make my Sunglasses Blastoise BF so I can run Charizard, Sunglasses Blastoise and Venusaur as my Ultra League Classic Team but it's just not worth it. I also don't like how events arw now like you have frame of some days to catch few types of Pokemon and than spotlight hours. It should be like random as it use to be so I can be happy if I find rare Pokémon once in a while opposing to getting 10 back to back legendaries from PvP. I'm rambling now but this game is definitely not worth putting time into anymore. And even tho I knew all of it still took me 10 uninstalls to stop playing it.

Skyrim (again). This time one Ps5 with anniversary edition. With some graphical mods this game looks even better and makes me want to play it all over again. Whoohoo!

Been playing quite a bit of Forza Horizon 5 on PC lately. Getting some of those online accolades over with.

Bits and bobs of The Division 1 and F1 2021 on PC too.

Only AAA hates it. If ATB/turn-based combat was truly anachronistic, there wouldn't be oodles of indie games and smaller professional games utilizing turn-based mechanics. Octopath Traveler was a smash hit from the same company. People still play and create tabletop games, for crying out loud. Taking turns remains a thing.

Square is just self-conscious about appearing like they're stuck in the past. Because they are. But in other ways. Case in point: the game you played. :P

I recently finished the Gunk (Series S) in about 7 1/2 hours (it could last another hour If I go back for the remaining achievements, but I won't.)
The pros: charming graphics that do not need HDR or ray tracing to be impactful, really well done. Very good, yet simple platform mechanics, and probably one of the best over the shoulder cameras I've ever seen (something that even the mighty Psychonauts 2 can't claim, It had some awkward angles at some spots.)
The cons: The story is simple and could have been more complex/ambitious, as for the
It's boring, nagging and one-sided, in narrative and gameplay. For a game with an enjoyable relationship and gameplay to match, try Haven, one of my faves of the year.

I continue with Halo Infinite campaign, I'm probably near the endgame. Also FH5/AC Odyssey/daily fix of 2-Point Hospital.

I was playing "Automation: The Car Tycoon Game" lately, but I am kind of retiring from playing it further until I get a better computer or upgrade. Most of the more recent 3D (and some 2D) games just go slow on my PC. I also am retiring a bit from Automation because I can't find a decent version to use that doesn't slow down with regularity.

Having said all of this, I am still doing Stardew Valley. Even I was able to use a compatible version of that game to help save my progress in the game from going the way of the dinosaur. What I am loving now about the game is just how you actually connect with the tight-knit community. Once you start being their friend more, you begin to appreciate their character more. For example, Shane is a dope in Stardew Valley. However, once you start being friends with him, you understand some of his character more and why Shane acts the way he does. It continues to amaze me playing this game.

From my Xmas gifts, I've decided to tackle Outer Wilds: Echoes of the Eye first. I love this game! I first played it on PS4 and wishlisted a re-purchase on Steam for the DLC, because my new PC has usurped the PS4's place and I wanted to support the developers. I've sunk my teeth into the new mystery the DLC provides and I'm having a blast with the gravity physics and goofing off in space with poor safety practices all over again. 🐺

Still absolutely addicted to BF 2042, since the initial patches I don't think the game is half as bas as most say.

I also dusted off my steering wheel for the first time in a long time and bought F1 2021, really enjoying it and good to get back into using the wheel in preparation for ACC PS5 and GT7 :)

Picked up Art of Rally cheap over Christmas. Took a bit of fiddling to get the settings right, but really enjoying it now.

Most of my gaming time in the last fortnight has been taken up by Last of Us 2. I had read some negative comments before playing (and I had a rough idea of the story), so perhaps my expectations were dialled down a little, but I am blown away with how good it is: especially the gameplay.

Fantastic story telling, maybe not as "happy" (for want of a better word) as the first game, but a believable continuation of the storyline.

The PS5 version of Skyrim to hold me off until Cyberpunk gets relaunched.

Idk how many playthroughs I’ve done in this game, but I’m pretty sure this is the 5th platform that I’ve played it on. This will be the last time though, so I want to get the platinum trophy for it.
