Which car was your 1st purchase? (Or will be your 1st, if you don't have GT4 yet...)

If you don't know already, you can view which cars are available to purchase with the initial 1,000,000 credits here. Most of the names are links to pictures of the various cars.

My first car will either be the Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 or the Toyota BITZ! Euro Sport Edition.

Then maybe upgrade to an Evo 6 RS TME or an S2000 Type V '01.

We'll see which Evo/WRX I choose later.

Actually I don't believe that is true, that list is all the cars you could afford at the start of the game, but not all used cars are available at day 1. There is an excel spreadsheet floating around that has what day what used cars are available and some of the used cars, even the cheap one that would be great to start with (My choice the '69 Bluebird for example :( ) don't even pop up in the used lot until about day 300.

If the spreadsheet is correct, this is the inventory of the used car lot on day 1, sort ed by price starting with the cheapest. Blue cars cost more than what the game starts you with without tranferring credits...

Kinda narrows down the options doesn't it...

Supra897
Well in GT3, you weren't given much choice. In GT and GT2 you had a big choice, I always went with the early 90s Supra Turbo.

good choice! in gt4 im getting the mk2 i think its a 82' 2800 i have an 86 mk2 so it will be cool to see what i could do if i had $$$$

I think i´ll go with a Used FTO. If i remember correctly it´s FF and i always end up needing one of those. Otherwise i´ll see if i can find a cheap nissan skyline since i practiced a lot with those cars in Prologue.

I can´t wait to get started 👍 👍 👍

i didnt see any of these cars listed, if i can afford it cuz im not import anything,

1) Nissan 300zx Turbo (Z31) 230hp(est) RWD
2) 1990 Nissan Pulsar/Sunny GTI-R 230hp AWD (Turbo)

i pick these 2 cars cuz 1 the Z31 is quick car, not many ppl think that, back in the day the Z31 played with the irocs, and trans am and it would beat them, i know cuz my cuzin owned one. For the GTI-R it wieght close to a civic maybe alittle more, give or take, and it runs 13's everyday and it is a quick car...compared to the galant vr4 awd i have no clue but i think it wieghts more then the gti-r

my 0.2 cents

Seeing how I'm not going to transfer credits (transferring takes away all the fun!), I will more than likely buy a Trueno (Haven't proved bad after GT3 starting car) or a AW11 MR-2, Supercharged or Not. I love the AW11, and on top of that a 4AG, not to mention a SuperCharger...

since I respect all the cars I get I would love to start with some crappy classic car which I could tweak with and play around before moving onto bigger and better things.

However, knowing me, I will play the liscences until I get a buncha golds and use the prize cars from there. :)

I agree, If I were to select a car to start with a few years ago, I would have gone with the fastest car possible. But after playing GT3 for so long I started to miss the classics from GT2, I had actually not really driven the classics from GT2, so I really wanted to check them out.

After all that, with GT4 a month away I can't wait to drive the classics, with a steering wheel for the first time (in my case).

Proabably a Classic Honda, such as a CRX, 92-96 prelude vtec, or a EG6 civic SiR(unless it sounds the same with racing muffler from GT3)
im also considering a toyota corolla trueno or the AW11 SuperCharged MR2(good tool for learning how to drive a MR).
I also like starting with a slower more average car, it just makes it more realistic. Afterall, this is a simulator, so im going to use it for how it should be used. Besides, those cars are fun to drive and are good handlers.

Oh and also to anyone who only has 98.2% of Gt2 beat, congrats, cuz technically thats 100%. You cant get 100% on GT2.(i watched some GT special on a gaming channel)

If I can afford one them from the start:

Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA 1600 '65
Lotus Elan Series 1 '62
Mitsubishi 1600GSR '73
Nissan Bluebird 1800SSS '79

I'd probably get my ass kicked, but I would be smiling the whole time.

Sorry but this is off topic...

What is the correct way to pronounce Nürburgring Nordschleife? If you know how a pronounciation key works, thats the easiest way. I even tried to find it in an encyclopedia and it didn't work...

So since it's not available until day 300ish, my plan is to start the game find the quickest way to make the days go by, failing a license test, or starting a Mission Hall race and quitting, whatever, keep checking the used car lot, buy the first '69 Bluebird that comes along save, pop in my other save card, start a new game and buy my Bluebird from the other save...

I call it my, big-****ing-waste-of-my-time-to-start-with-the-car-I-really-want cheat.

Really what is the point of making cars that can't possibly be useful that late in the game not available until day 300? The most fun part of all three GT games for me so far have been the first couple of hours where you have no money and keep losing races and taking the third or fourth place prize money and buying one mod at a time and I'll be damned if I'm doing it with a Trueno again. :banghead:

CLIFF NOTES: **** the rules I'm starting with the '69 Bluebird...

Or you could win a decent liscense test car... I mean its a free car, and then you can drop all the money you start out with into that car.

Unless you REALLY want that car, then go ahead :P

ak
How much cash will you start out with in the career mode?

Current guess is 10,000. They got that by transfering the yen starting out in the japan version, which just so happens to equal the credits for GT and GT2... So the best guess as of now is 10,000.

But transferring money TO UPGRADE YOUR CAR is a good idea!! (I will buy a Miata and spend the extra 10 grand for upgrades and tuning goodies)

I plan on winning liscense cars, and modding one of the better versions of that.

Upgrading? You can now do that in GT4? Cool! I've been waiting, something the GT series needs....

Haha, just kidding. I might transfer later in the game, but I like to keep my cars and the AI cars similar in performance. But my driving skill beats them. Thats the challenge. Or, I might transfer credits over for a "Fun" car, like a full time drifter...Kind of like how I'm doing GT3 now, I'm drifting my way through the game.

Well, I try it :

Nür : ü is like the y in myst (well almost)
burg : u like in boobs ;) or Boo ! A ghost or whatever
ring : Well pretty the same as in english
Nord : as you would say it in english pronounciation North with d instead of th)
schleife : the "ei" like eye ; the fe like fe -stival

Nyrboorgring Nordschleyefe

Well I think that comes pretty close..... :sly:

The early 90's Prelude VTECs were my go-to car in both GT1 and GT2...so when i found out there were no Preludes in GT3 i was quite understandably crushed. So funds allowing, I'll go with it again in GT4....that is if the game EVER gets released in the US.....Grrrrrrrr
