Embarrassing to lose for me. It started out so good. I don't want to report anybody as it wont do me good anyway.
But Johnkiller - you killed me at 11 lap in the first corner on the hill and from there on I crashed two times.
I may consider pulling out of the series as I don't want to spend all of my Fridays loosing.
That is just terrible.

Provisional results are

1st - Neomone
2nd - Kamy
3rd - Wardez
4th - African
5th

We'll need some help from the other participants. Only about 8 finished. My connection was good for everyone and the ones who finished the race said the room was rock solid. Seemed like the guys who dropped out had connection problems on their side. Ayrton's router was acting up as well as Molemans, Senni's nowhere to be found and I'm not sure about the last one.

Didn't see anyone sliding around with lag in the least bit, I was pretty happy with that

Alright. That was a really fun race!

I was smiling big time from lap 15-20 even dough I was cut of bad, decided to change to intermidiates and was prying for more rain, but the rain came on lap 20.. Was drizzleing the last 6-7 laps, but never got wet.

Had a really bad start. There was an accident and the drivers just went on to the road without letting me pass, causing damage to my left front. (gentlemens rule?)

I decided to drive on, cause the damage "just" made my wheel point 20 degrees to the left... Then on lap 2, I had an incident with Centura, he was behind a damaged car, and I did not understand that the car he was behind was damged so I tryed to overtake the both, when Centura turned out in fron of me causing me damage on the right front.. Still decided to keep on! My wheels pointed everywhere I think :)

It happened a lot!! Can't even remeber half of it..

I was alone driving in the dark once, and I forgot where I was (my thaughts flew away for 1 second) and rammed a barrier, so had to di my first pit at lap 7... Then I can't remember anymore... LOL

It was a great race. But I guess something must have happened in turn 1 I guess, since I saw JohnKiller2 in the sand pit.. What happened?

That was an epic race in GT300, marred only by the untimely demise of Senninha and Moleman.

We started well, and from what I could see the first few corners were fairly well behaved. I quickly gave up several positions as I didn't want to battle with anyone and risk early damage.

After a few laps Kamykaze and I settled into 3rd and 4th, and we spend several laps drafting each other. Very calm, very cool, and I think we were both the faster for it.

I believe it was during this time that Senninha's turbo exploded, and the resulting damage was sufficient to retire him from the race.

As night fell, I passed Kamy on the straight before the curves, and when I looked in my rearview mirror at the start/finish straight he was gone. A victim of the night terrors, no doubt.

It was a long and lonely vigil through the night, apart from one scary spin on lap 9 as the tyres started to wear low. I tried to run as long as I could in the hope of catching onto the back of Moleman as he exited the pits. But it was not to be, as he came out he was still 6 seconds ahead and with him on fresh rubber I couldn't hope to close the gap.

I pitted at the start of lap 12. Kamykaze jumped into second while I was there. For several laps he kept up a great pace, leading to all sorts of doubts in my mind. Had he sneaked in an early pit stop and I hadn't noticed? Was he 2 stopping? Did he have some super secret strategy that he was going to clobber me with? These are things that happen when you're driving alone at night.

During the night, Moleman fell prey to the local wildlife. He hit a deer that had snuck onto the track, and the spray of deer-bris (ha!) was enough to cripple him. He retired with severe engine damage and a lingering smell of roasting venison.

Kamykaze eventually pitted, leaving me in the lead with Kamy about 25 seconds adrift.

As the day dawned, I started catching backmarkers. My thanks to Scannyflick, awan_afuqja, and ffocus for letting me past cleanly and quickly. Kamykaze was reeling me in during the final laps, but couldn't get the job done quickly enough. I drove at a cautious medium pace to a win by 12 seconds in the bright sunshine of a glorious French day.

Thanks to all who participated, and thanks to Wardez for stepping up at the 11th hour and providing an excellent host. Great job, mate.

EDIT: After watching the replay, it looks like it was a miscommunication. I'm not really sure why I tried to overtake on his right instead of left. Either way, I was forced to brake and you were so close to me that you had no chance to react.

Fun fact: I ran out of fuel before the chicane on last lap.

Good race imari.
Shame what happened to senninha and moleman when leading. Is pace was .

I realized we wouldn't catch those 2 guys, so i tried to stop a little earlier, so i could gain some time on you. Pitted at lap 6, and soon realized it was too soon, and that i would need to pit again, wich i did when you were catching to me at lap 15 too fast. I also put 2 liters of fuel in the 2nd pitstop, and i barely made it to the end. :scared:

Gotta say thanks to you all for this night, had much fun out there in the GT300. Though made a bunch of mistakes and still lacking consistency throughout a complete distance, this was my first enduro-like race.
Also I was lacking for about 20bhp I guess, which didn´t make me faster on the straights. Dunno how the weights were defined, cause race settings were to 980kg, where I had 1125kg to carry. But first, improvement for me only can come from getting better. The only way to achieve this is in gaining racing experience.
Not sure if I can keep up with you guys, cause here the race ended at 0:30 for me. Im not an old man, though not a highspeed-train, either :)
Again thanks, was a pleasure to experience together with you the sunrise in LeMans..

good review i hope my internet/turbo is more reliable in the next race

Terrible race. I fell asleep after the start .... littlerally. When I saw the chicane I woke up, but then it was too late.

Not much went right at this race. Nothing actually.
These long straight tracks is not really my game.

GT500:

I had a fantastic race!

We had a few errors at start and had to restart but after the 3rd attempt we finally got going.
I got striaght onto Johnkillers slipstream, i then almost forgot to break for the turn and then BANG!!!! Johnkiller fell asleep (he admited lol) we were both in the sand making castles lol. I had rear damage and he must of had front.
Moving on i saw a few accidents (lap1) so alot of us went into the pits striaght away.
Lap 2 - i think i was 7th about 40 - 50 seconds behind the leader. i had a good battle with fal...school (forgot his name) i taped his rear end when he was spinning his wheels everwhere (sorry hope you didnt get damage), i had now front left damage but i carried on.
Lap 3 - i saw a few more people pit which was great as now i was up to 4th behind Chorde, Sigma and Apollo but was still 40-50 seconds behind them.
Lap 6 or 7 - I saw Chorde fall alseep and miss the pits (i guess) and he went backwards on track (Naughty) to get back into pits i was still around 40 secs behind leaders
Lap 10 - I had to pit my tyres had gone. i came out and i was 120 seconds behind leader
Later laps - Saw sigma coming out of pits but then he had to give up because of his breaks hehe now im in 2nd WOOHOOO my tactics seem to be coming together.
Lap 12 or 13 - Apollo finally pitted but i put in some fantastic laps in the dark and overtook him while he was in the pits.
Lap 14 - the rain started to come was only a bit of drizzle so the tyres were fine. Fal..school was still close to my arse around 10 seconds behind, he was starting to catch.
Lap 17 or 18 - apollo overtook him and now was on the hunt for the win.
Lap 19 and 20 - the rain was hard and i had no grip on the tyres apollo was only 6 seconds behind OH ****
Last Lap - Apollo was catching fast but i couldnt go any faster 4 seconds behind 3 seconds behind 19 seconds behind, WOOOHOOO he must of spun,
Last few corners i just crused round (more like sliding lol)

Great race, from 50 secs behind on 1st lap i thought it was all over (thx to johnkiller lol)

Looking forward to the real season.

Must follow up Neomone/Imari with the comments regarding lapping people too - really awesome in GT300, thanks guys, you made it really easy to pass during the night (awan and scanny).

Awan: The cars we run are stock, so there is about a 20hp difference between cars - for example the RX7 is 337HP I think, while the Garaiya is 355, but the performance is about the same.

For the winners, congrats! For the unfortunates, well, better luck next time! Don't let the emotions get the best of you! Sleep on it and you'll feel better :D

Stewards shall do their best to hand out Penalties! We expect contribution from all participants to get all data :)

Lastly, a dedicated website is in the works by yours truly. Not solely for Super GT, but more of a racing club of sorts. It may take a bit of time, but it will be up sometime during the season (or sooner).

:D

Yeah, and the Celica is 322. There's differences in weights and aero that make all the cars roughly equivalent. Pick a car that feels good and comfortable for you, then concentrate on making it fast.

Had a really bad start. There was an accident and the drivers just went on to the road without letting me pass, causing damage to my left front. (gentlemens rule?)

Sorry about that bump, I was pissed off because 2 drivers spun off-road before that between Indy and Arnage, then one of them (faqoldschool) rushed right on track just in front of me, had to avoid him, gone off road myself and crashed into the tyre barrier, engine and both front wheels damaged:ouch:. Then I was too angry that I forgot other people were still coming and bam I hit you :guilty:

Anyway lap 1 was a mess then the rest of the race was pretty exciting, last few laps I was running on fumes, in rain while running out of hard racing rubber.

Please go ahead and file for incidents you seen during the race.

This is the best way to get us to the clean racing we all want to have.
Remember, don't bring up your incidents on the forum. If you do, they become invalid. Send a PM to stewards. We don't want heated public discussions.

I was myself having a great evening with my wife when
You were driving in bad conditions...:)

Hopefully You Guys someday will realize that it is not so frustrating having damage set to low or not at all. Maybe
after Nordschleife night&rain then.:dopey:

Sorry for posting when drinking wine....and I wasn´t even there tonight....

I definitely think Damage: Light would be better. It's pretty frustrating having a very small incident, but big enough to force you to pit and lose anywhere between 25 - 60 seconds.

Last time I checked I was in the waiting list, now I see I could participate in the race. :guilty:
Sorry lads next time I'll check the thread more often.

That was a good race tonight, allthough i could of won :P

Ill give a little review.
I decided to back off after the rolling start and let everybody past because i thought there was gonna be a big pile up, so that kept me out of trouble.
i think got up to 4th by the end of the first lap? so many people going off and coming together.
Eventually caught upto Sigma after a few laps and we started draughting and trying to put some distance on the pack.

I saved a massive amount of fuel and tyre doing this.
Sigma dropped out and i was on my own driving at night,
i had a major off at some point coming to the second chicane, i just didnt brake lol, i was daydreaming thinking about how much fuel i needed for my pitstop.

I decided to go longer than 10 laps without a pitsop because i had alot of tyre left after draughting with Sigma for so long. That was my downfall and cost me the race. I was trying to go to lap 14, because i know that 50 litres of fuel does me 6 laps and on fresh tyres with half a tank i can do 3.54 laptimes. I lost a massive amount of time on the 3 laps before i pit so i had to pit early.
From then on i was trying to catch Paganis wich i nearly did.But he was quick and held on for a good win.

Nice race:tup:

I wonder how much fuel consumption is based on how you drive and how much it's just a number that ticks over? I was very low when I finished, but I felt like I definitely had at least another lap in the tank. Was slightly above half at half distance too.

I don't know if that's the advantage of spending several laps drafting with Kamy, or not driving flat out for the majority of the race, or just being lucky. Certainly, it was the right race distance to have some very interesting things going on with fuel and tyres.

I wanted to race.... if the practice races we had earlier in the week were a slight taste of what the race could have been, this was the race that was going to be the best... unfortunately, some of us had problems and only left to think "what if..."

Must have been cool if I only had the chance to race like we did a few days ago! but no...
Congrats to the winners hope you had great races!!

Great race, from 50 secs behind on 1st lap i thought it was all over (thx to johnkiller lol)

Looking forward to the real season.

Even though it has already been decided, I now know why i voted for same class racing vs the mixed class racing. I started 10th, ran a good stretch of the race in the top 3 and capitalized on others mistakes. Dont get me wrong, I like the mixed class stuff too, but it almost makes qualifying too important by having 2 divisions.

I don't have all the exact laps without looking at the replays, but the first lap was crazy. I don't know how many people had to limp to the pits after lap 1, but i managed to work my way up to 5th or so before the indianpolis section. Then C-Falcon and I had a little run in (nothing dirty). Right rear was damaged so i had to pit.

Left the pits at the same time as Paginas. We worked off each other for many laps on the straights and followed each other cleanly through the curvy bits. We were absolutely flying and making good time to the leaders but they had a good 45 second lead. On lap 9, saw Chorda u truning into the pits lol. and passed Nilsurban in the pits. Paginas pulled away a little in the dark (just a second or two), but i stuck with him until the end of lap 10 when we both pitted. i shortfilled on fuel to leave right behind him again. Only XsApollo was ahead of us. We managed to get back out in front of Nils, Chorda, and Nycrom.

I just kept following Paginas lights in the distance. XsApollo finally pitted after a ton of laps on his tires (i dont know how you do it), but came out of the pits pretty close behind me. All three of us ran even gaps of about 5 secs each until daylight broke. I was even gaining on Pag a little, but then the rain came with about 6 laps to go.

We all kept running hard and no inters were needed until about 4 laps left. Then the rooster tails started and the corners got tougher to make. I was losing a second here and there to Pag and XS. I was just trying to nurse the car home on half worn tires in the wet. Ran wide a few times and XS passed me with 3 laps left at the end of Mulsane. I tailed him for awhile (this is when i should have pitted and switched to fresh inters for the last 3 laps). I kept it together for the next two laps but dropped to 10 secs off Pag and XS. On lap 19, on the last Porsche curve, tail kicked out and i clipped the wall. Damaged right rear but luckily it was right in front of the pits. Dove in real quick for inters and a splash of fuel.

Nils and Nycrom caught me just coming out of the pits. I was able to eat into both of them and the leaders on the last lap. i passed Nycrom, gained about 15 seconds on Pag and XS...but heres the kicker, flying through the porsche curves and gaining on Nils. Was going to catch him on the final 2 chicanes and.....................................ran out of fuel inbetween the chicanes and slowed to 50 lol. I thought my accelerator broke. Rolled across the line in 4th right behind Nils.

It was a great race besides the connection issues at the beginning. PD need to develop their online capabilities further (all 32 cars/mixed class would be awesome), but just think, this was only their first true attempt at online mulitplayer. Can't wait to see what GT6 will be capable of, even if it is 10 years off lol.

Masi, do we have set race times for each week when the season starts? Just so i can plan accordingly. The last minute adjustment to 2pm PST forced me to cash in on some favors from the wife. Next time she might just punch me in the side of the head while i'm driving.

Good racing everybody.

GT300 was a lot of fun for me, i can say, at least until a phone call from a prospective employer forced my retirement.

not that it would have mattered, i was in last place anyway on lap 9 when i had to bail. i kept up alright at first, but once it got dark, despite my many practice runs, i became disoriented more than once and made more and more mistakes costing precious time.

looking forward to more great racing ahead guys!

-d

oh and PS: no connection issues that i noticed, i saw no lagging or anything suspect in that regard, room seemed solid to me.

I took most of the pictures by night.. Hope you don't mind. But I wanted to use the opportunity to take som night pics..

And a little note: We had a small discussion about the corner cutting at La Sarthe among a few of the stewards.
Let's just say that we were right about a few things :)

In the real championship, going of the circuit to gain time will be penalized. This was not just a great race, It was a great preseason race also, because now we know how much corners are cut on this circuit. Use this race as an exampla of how a race NOT should look lika as far as cornercutting goes. 👍 The rest of the race was epic, and I actually smiled the last 5 laps even dough I was waaaaaaaay back in the field with no possibility what so ever to gain a spot or two... But if it had started to rain...... :)
(I was on intermidiates since lap 16, praying for rain)

See you guys in the REAL championship next time. 👍

Hence the cliche, races are won and lost in Turn 1.

I think the lap 1 shenanigans (i love that word) were a product of the track itself; very long straights. The Formation diagram is technically single file, so i cant really blame the rolling start. I was contemplating having a standing start instead (with a 30 minute qualy prior to race) since the track is so big, but popular vote went the other way with reasons of testing/refining the rolling start furthermore for the real chanpionship.

Edit: this post was in reply to posts prior to Chorda's.

Too bad i missed the race... I got back home and checked the lobby. I was late by 2 laps :(

As far as I can tell, the startprocedure went fine. No trouble, and drivers did not floor it before the driver in front/side did 👍

First turn was clean, Johnkiller2 made an unforced error (I was not close in the race, but when looking at the replay it looked like it was). But indianapolis, that's where things started to happen :)

But the startprocedure worked great as far as I can tell. Great job with that one Masi 👍

That's good to hear

Also... ive been thinking of a domain name for the dedicated website... It's hard to decide. Must be the same as naming a human baby lol.

Any suggestions?
