Hello all,

Quite a while ago, Exorcet, EchoInTheSoul (a friend of mine who regularly plays GT5 and Dirt3; was competitive in Dirt2) and I were kicking around the idea of a Spec Viper SRT10 ACR series done in the style of the SCCA Pro Viper Cup, with the SRT10 ACR '08 being converted to the specs of the SRT10 ACR-X '10 to the best of our ability in-game. Schedule issues and real-life obligations took priority, but we have a small window at the end of July and beginning of August where this can happen. After enough interest had been shown, we've decided to post a signup/racing thread. Please post in this thread with your PSN tag if you wish to register.

Based off the racing regulations, here's what we're looking at for allowed modifications to the Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR '08:

  • Legal Cars: Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR '08
  • Oil Change: Allowed
  • Engine Overhaul: Allowed
  • Chassis Restoration: Alowed

  • Wheel Change: Allowed (for cosmetic purposes)
  • Tires: Racing Hard
  • Suspension: Free

  • Chassis Reinforcement: Allowed
  • Weight Reductions: Stage1(/Stage2) weight reduction + Windshield weight reduction allowed, with ballast to bring up to at least 1470kg. (See comments under Minimum Weight)
  • HP Cap: 650bhp
  • Minimum Weight: 1470kg (Weight arrived at by converting the ACR'08 to ACR-X'10 via weight reduction, then bringing up to ACR-X stock weight of 1478kg via ballast, then doing window weight reduction+2kg to get to 1470kg. This gets us as close as we can to ACR-X specs.)
  • Performance Points Cap: 594

Sign me up, hopefully this doesn't comflict with my current series on saturday.

Well, we're thinking about changing the start time to later in the evening to accommodate a couple people with race conflicts, so maybe it won't interfere.

I'm interested! The ACR is one of my favorite cars in GT5. But I can fully participate if the race start time is pushed back a little and if i can get my work to give me weekends off again. Supposed to change in a week or two. I can join the practice session, to see if my times are competitive.

Practice room is up - set up for free run so people can get used to the track and get a tune down. 1472-6118-3916-1741-4680 room closed

1:45's are definitely possible at Daytona. 👍

Wowee! I'm still trying to break 1:50. Exorcet, think you can break 1:45? :)

I put up a time change for Saturday's race to try to accommodate mostly everyone. Now at 7:00PM EDT (that's 11PM BST). Please let me know of any conflicts so I can find a time that works for everyone

That will conflict with my Super Taikyu series, but it might still be ok. We haven't had much of a turnout in that series, so if it stays that way I might just drop it entirely. I'll let you know by Friday.

Edit: My best so far is a 1:46.088 at Daytona Road. Fun car. 👍

23:00 BST. Is that quali or race time? Will be fine if quali, pushing it if race.

There isn't a rule banning superchragers lol

I'm going to be pushing the car tonight at practice, that's for sure.

As it stands now, the race would start too late for me. It is at 01:00am local time for the race start. So unless it starts a bit earlier I won't be able to make it... I was under the impression that the race start was at 04:00pm EDT, which was excellent for me... But this is too late...

So bottom line, unless it's decided to start it a couple of hours earlier I can't join, so you can cancel my entry...

I'd really like to do this series but if the majority is more comfortable at this starting time, then ok...

P.S. No need for superchargers to get into the low 46, high 45 for a qualy run... Hehe:cool:

How about an earlier start instead of later?

Okay, there's quite a few conflicts with other racing series, so whoever has a conflict, please PM me what races and times you're involved in on Saturdays. I'll come up a time that will try to work for everyone based off of that.

I knew I was missing something. Fixed. :dopey:

Edit:

After talking with Knelly, I decided to move the start time to its original place at 4PM EDT.

me me me me me!

I wanted to do something like this myself. The Viper's traditionally been my favourite car, so I'm absolutely in.

Practice room is up 1472-6399-8665-9411-9071 Room Closed. Nice practicing with Exorcet and GrayFox tonight! I'll be having one more practice on Thursday, and Exorcet might be practicing tomorrow night.

Also, since GT5 doesn't let us set a weight ourselves, I've had to move the minimum weight to 1470kg. I'd rather it be closer to the actual race weight than be letting people go down to 1460kg. Max bhp is moving up, as well. Right now it's at 633bhp, since that's the highest I've seen so far and highest (I think) anyone's reported.

OK, as far as BHP is concerned...

Mine has reached 641BHP after 173.3Km (107.6 miles) of testing.

With that horsepower and 1470kgr of weight, the performance points reach 592PP...

I would also like to note that the +10 horsepower that the engine got during the course of being run in do not change the feeling of the car on track... Probably due to the miniscule change in torque. But it does give a couple of Km/h extra top speed...

P.S. What do you mean "doesn't let us set a weight ourselves"? The game let's you set it in the rules options of the room. And as an added measure check you can at any time change the room to the desired PP and see who stays in and who's entry is cancelled... If a car doesn't stay in, it means he's been tampering with the engine limiter more than he should be...

Okay, well we're going to cap it at 640, which is the bhp of the ACR-X. A few of us have been doing our testing in online rooms in free run, and apparently the game doesn't count any mileage put on in free run. Thursday, I guess we can do a short race (~5 laps) or two if some people want to start breaking their engines in for real. What I mean by "doesn't let us set a weight ourselves" is that I can't set 1468kg. I can only set 1460kg or 1470kg. The game doesn't give free enough control over weight restrictions to let us get things exactly to spec.

OK, 640 it is then... Mine has already reached 645 though after 246Km (120+miles)... But I guess limiting this little won't even be noticable...

Looking forward to seeing you all on track...👍👍

Will there be a practice room tonight? I missed it last night because I had my Nissan Club room open.

I won't be around tonight, but Exorcet mentioned to me that he'll be practicing. Maybe he can be convinced to open a room :sly:

If people want a room, I'll make one. It might be a little later than the usual 9 PM though. Maybe 9:30.

No big deal, I can test in my lounge if you don't want to open a room. That time is almost perfect for me anyway because I don't get home until 10 eastern.

Something I was thinking about tonight when we did a practice race. Has anyone thought about doing a rolling start to avoid the standing start on the banking?
