As someone who bet on Rosberg to be champion when he was at 16/1, I'm feeling quite smug about him claiming pole at a circuit which is traditionally Lewis's specialty. :D

Great to see a great rivalry at the top, Nico stepping up. Shades of Prost/Senna . Looking forward to tomorrow, expect a few curve balls too.

Looks like I didn't miss much earlier then!

The main race is on Monday morning down here in Straya:boggled:

I don't know, since Mercedes started saying it it's worn a bit thin... here we are a couple of months later and we still see two modern, professional drivers from the same school of racing fighting in completely different circumstances from Senna and Prost.

Woolf can wheel out all the F1 legends he likes to remind me on camera of "how much like Prost und Senna this is" but I'm not feeling it at all, and I was there.

Toto Wolff was the one to say not too long ago that this isn't like Senna/Prost battle.

So... Nico Rosberg for WDC?

He really stepped it up big time in Q3... granted Lewis made mistakes, but the same has been true of Nico in other battles where Lewis has won pole.

Lewis is still the faster natural lapper, but Nico is really pressing him on. Maybe there's a psychological edge there now, built on from Monaco, but Lewis is going to have to step up his game to win this battle.

I think the beauty of it is that Rosberg and Hamilton can get the same speed out of the car even though they have such varied approaches. Where Hamilton can immediately respond, Rosberg plays out his strategy over the long run. I know the Prost and Senna comparisons keep coming up, but I think Hunt and Lauda would make for a better comparison, but both drivers take qualities from each, rather than each subscribing to one exclusively. It's less a case of James Hunt and Niki Lauda, and more James Lauda and Niki Hunt, if that makes sense.

Overall I think it's fair to say Lewis is the better qualifier and the better at saving fuel in this car but when it comes down to tyre preservation Nico seems to have an advantage.

Managed to get an onboard of Hamilton's lap and he even missed the apex of turn 2 after he used 1st gear for that corner instead of 2nd like Nico, locked up the rears and had an armful of lock and went a bit wide.

Nico's lap was just tidier on the day. Lewis just had a scrappy Turn 2, 6 and 7.

Looking forward to tonight.

If the Benzes are out front, it'll be all about who makes that first pit stop under green or yellow.

Nah, I'm pretty sure this one will be decided on track, even if it does only get juicy in the last 20 minutes.

I think it was Spain (?) where it should have been settled on track but, Hamilton turned his engine to 11 (I'm a Hamilton fan). Even though Lewis isnt best on his rear tyres, if he gets ahead of Nico before a pit stop, I say he keeps Nico at bay. Thing is, Nico isnt scared. We'll see in 3 hours.

Nico did the same in Bahrain, both as bad as each other.

Hard to pass in Spain though, there should at the very least be several attempts at Montreal.

Oh I'm also really looking forward to the battle behind, the Red Bull's and Williams were separated by fractions and Ferrari not far off with probable better race pace. Should be good.

So I missed qualy yesterday but I'm here for the race but ill be watching the darts on the other side as well from 7 so I'm doing some channel hooping later!

Anyway, hoping for a better race today, some of the races this season have been meh with Bahrain the only stand out one...my opinion..

Kimi Raikkonen will win this one comfortably.

Or Sebastian Vettel. :D

I'm anticipating a rather ragged race from several people, though I hope this race won't be decided by yellows.

Definitely, I think there'll almost certainly be a couple of safety cars... and this time Lewis has a good long view of the screens as he approaches the pit lane :D
