The whole fuel consumption rule is pathetic. It's one of those rules that detracts from the spectacle, and the FIA should be ashamed of themselves for letting this crap go ahead.

I wasn't even trying toi be funny.

that really sucks for Riccardo but at the same time it's hahahahaha fopr Red Bull.

I say this after havcing consumed Red Bull as part of my drinking tonight

Total race time was over an hour, fuel tank only holds 100 kg of fuel. How does one exceed 100kg/hour flow rate without running out of fuel?

Or am I missing something?

i hope this will be sorted out by the teams sooner than later. It will not be good when we have to wait a couple of hours to have the race results confirmed.

The FIA need to clean up their act regarding rules. It's pathetic when a driver does nothing wrong, yet he gets the end result. Utterly pathetic.

That's a real shame for Ricciardo, especially so considering it's his home race. I'm sure it didn't really make much, if any, of a difference to his performance and he can take a lot out of it. He's got a lot to be proud of today. But rules are rules and no doubt we'll be seeing him on the podium again very soon, hopefully on the top step (and before Vettel) too!

As I understand it, you can have more then 100kg/h fuel flow for a while and then later in the race you can run below 100kg/h. You are not allowed to exceed 100kg/h consistently (whatever that exactly means), though.

Surely you can't exceed 100kg/h constantly or you'd run out of fuel?

Magnussen has now broken Hamilton's podium record as he moves to 2nd.
The 5th for Bottas now means Williams have double the points from 2013.

If he owes his finishing position to a car that BREAKS THE RULES then exclusion is correct.

Energy Recovery.

Yeah that is what I don't quite understand. Might they actually cary more than 100kg at the start? It wouldn't make sense since you'd have extra weight that you can't use anyway. But this is the only possibility I see.

The problem could be how that is/was interpreted. If it's not looked at as flow per hour, then it should be worded as flow per minute, or flow per second.

If the flow did exceed the limit, yet they still put it in fuel saving, it'd suggest that Red Bull had no idea, and the exceedance would have therefore had no effect upon the results.

Quite a lot of F1 people on twitter are saying it, so it must be vaguely official. Apparently Red Bull are appealing though (not surprisingly).

If the flow exceeds the limit it is not beyond the possibility of Red Bull tampering with it.

Indeed unless you can show that it is a fault with the device then tampering is the only option.
