2017 Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand PrixFormula 1

I know this keeps coming up, and I'm not asking for something illegal, but is there a way to watch the race on PS4 or PS3? Outside of the UK in Europe?
I'd be willing to pay idk 5 bucks per race , but I'm getting tired of dragging my satellite receiver out and possibly even the TV. Would be much nicer to watch the races in HD through my PS4 on my IPS monitor...

If not why is this not a thing? :P

People who have a choice but make a conscious decision to remain close to a race track, then complain about noise, deserve it.

Unfortunately, that falls under common sense, which courts and politicians usually lack so the complainers often win.

Race tracks contribute way more to an economy than a couple miserable neighbors. Unfortunately, racetracks can't vote.

It was interesting seeing below video showing difference between the best Mercedes and Ferrari Q3 laps.

The Ferrari looks to be running more downforce than the Mercedes and very strong under braking. Maybe Sebastian will go for a lunge if he sees opportunity. If he gets ahead at the start and race pace is good then it will be hard for Mercedes to win as straights don't seem long enough to and not strong enough on the brakes it seems to go for a pass so I would prefer Sebastian to stay behind and follow instead. Finally get first real insight tomorrow to see how good or bad these cars can follow each other. Happy if Lewis wins, finger boy is already touching up Lewis's car and feeling him, don't want him to get even more satisfaction by winning and getting his finger out.

In the UK, I watch it on the Sky app on PS4. Depends on who broadcasts it in your country and if they offer an app service on the consoles or a web online stream?

The number of TV apps on the PlayStation consoles is really rather limited. It may be possible to watch a (legal) stream on the console's web browser, but from my experience it doesn't play media terribly well either.

I suspect it's not a thing because few are willing to pay Sony for the privilege of putting their apps onto the PlayStation (or program it to be compatible), which is rather a shame as it's quite a convenient thing for watching TV.

It really would be nice. I have the NBCSports channel here in the US but I would much prefer other announcers like the Radio Le Mans guys or SkySports.

Oh, Sky app... Yeah, I've just been looking around Sky seems to be the best (only?) option in HD in my country (Germany). It's 20€ a month apparently, and very confusing... I don't want a receiver, I don't want football and I don't want movies, plus I'm not even sure I could receive it here (maybe, over satellite) but I just want to stream, lol.

Yeah, watching live streams on PS4 is incredible, I've watched Live from PlayStation a couple of times, brilliant quality, not a single hitch - I'll check this Sky "Go" out for the next race, I also forgot I have a laptop, that would possibly work, too. I just don't want to have so many devices in my setup (and those Sky boxes are hideous, lol).

Thanks for the answers however and have fun with the race tomorrow... Today! :)

When Ricciardo went off, Brundle noted that when the drivers turn in, they can pass the point of no return quite easily if there's too much slip angle. A lot of the aerodynamic changes - the front wing, barge boards, scalloped sidepods and diffuser - move most of the aero grip under the car. If you rotate the car too much, all of the aero grip washes out and you lose the car.

That and max says the team still hasn't found a good balance on the car, so if other teams have this issue, there is a chance along with the changes and still coming to grips with the cars they've built, more accidents are prone to happen later in the race. I say this because the cars are obviously more demanding, so drivers could be more warn out, and the cars only get lighter and faster as the race winds on. So you have a mixture for potential late race issues.

If they can find a way to convince the manufacture teams that F1 is no longer relevant to road cars then big, loud engines could return. Or if they can invent an efficient big, loud engine.

The rear wings have actually been widened for this year. The cars are longer due to the larger fuel tanks. :)

Science and engineering doesn't work that way...

Also @TenEightyOne just said it, manufatures will leave the sport. Take it to the constructor thread, read the posts there and learn why this idea of a dream like world that you and a few others are never going to happen. But in the 1998 F1 season DV
The major problem still stands and it is the same as with Gran Turismo. SOUND.
Then it is the front ploughshare and too narrow rear wing. Also the cars should be a little shorter.
But when the sound changes, everything will be ''okay''. :)
With this turbo sound, they unfortunately sound like 200Hp cars or something like that.

We've been over this before, take it to the constructor thread, sounds isn't an issue.

Ahh I've missed F1! Great first qualifying to hopefully a great season, good to see Ferrari closer to Mercedes so maybe some competition this season.

So has anyone else made any 'risky' bets for today? I've got Sainz for a podium (50p to win £100)!

My reasoning is pretty simple - Albert Park. If it's going to go nuts, it'll be at this track, with bigger cars.

Vettel will be very good this year

Called that in preseason. Vettel's main issue in the hybrid era has always been rear traction. Under braking. In acceleration. Against Ric, before he left RBR, Vettel was suffering due to the brake-by-wire system and the higher wear at the rear. Not enough feel in the system to tell what the back was doing, and Vettel was using up those tires quicker in the first stint.

He was still fast. He often got the jump on Ricciardo in the first few laps. But the Aussie's smoother driving pulled him back in.

This year, aggressive trail-brakers like Vettel and Hamilton will shine.

Interesting comparison:

These 2017 cars turn in so aggressively! Impressed by how sharp that moment is in Lewis' pole lap.

Going to be a brutal race, it seems, for the drivers.

I think the big reason is PlayStation Vue, Sony doesn't want lots of tv programming or live tv available just by signing on with a rival cable provider.

Looking ahead to the rest of the season, which race do we think will be Bottas' first genuine shot at winning on pure pace?

Personally, I think it will be in Russia. He's always had an affinity for Sochi.

Safer bet to me would have been Romain

I made the bet on Wednesday, so it was more guess work rather than studying anything. I do feel as though the Haas may struggle over the course of the race, but I certainly see your point.
