Anybody out there following the Grand Am?

Oh, did you see the part where that 5th-place Subie (in GS) got off-track and then bounced its way back on like a kangaroo without a hitch? I was laughing at that point!

Yeah I saw it but my reaction was more like "Oh S***!"

I did not see the other interview about the Mini though.
As usual, we did not see what happened before this incident.

Yeah, that was great!

Just a little short-cut to catch back up after being punted.:)

Reminds me of some racing lines that I take!

Mm hmm. I've been guilty at times, too. Especially after being punted!

I have to agree the porsches are nowhere near competitive. They were getting lapped by other GTs in under 10 laps. Now they had the best downshifts out there bar none. They may have been losing, but they were losing with style.

This season in the CTC is crazy. Every car is brand new, except a couple Mustangs and Miatas. AND, according to the Rule Book, there are two more teams we still haven't even seen, yet. There's a new 2009 Audi TT AWD that's supposed to be in ST and a Hyundai Genesis in GS. I wonder if the VW Golf boys are gonna switch to the TT eventually. Who knows. But, everyone's having their teething issues and just beginning to get dialed in.

Last week at Mosport was crappy for the Minis. One got taken out on the first lap and the other ended up catching on fire. However, the Kia Fortes finally got a top ten finish as did the Subaru Impreza in GS. The Camaros are doing alright. The team that's running the ones in GS is also running the ones in the Rolex series. (Stevenson). The Challengers are having a heck of a time just starting a race. Only one of the two entered this year has started, and the first race, it had mechanical issues and the second race...well...in had mechanical issues. So, everyone's working out their bugs. Even the new BMWs and Mustangs are just finding their legs.

yup, and then the Saturday after that is the next Continental Tire Challenge race..and it'll be live this time. :P

Ah sweet! They're actually advertizing the CTC on local radio stations where I live, too. 👍 It goes: catch the Rolex GT this Saturday at 2:00 PM on Speed Channel with some cheezy heavy metal-sounding riff in the background. Sounds almost like a NASCAR or NHRA commercial. lol

17 hours, 26 minutes, and 32 seconds....:dopey:

EDIT: 4 hours, 38 minutes, 24 seconds....

I will be attending this weekends races at Lime Rock. 👍
I'll be there Friday - Monday with a break on Sunday (no races).
1st time for the DP cars, it should be very interesting.

I was hoping for the ST and GS cars to be together in the same race, but they are having their own class races on Saturday.

So far the weather looks good but everyday they predict warmer temps for the weekend with 90F for Monday.

The DP and GT race will be on SPEED live, along with qualifying.

I've been looking forward to these races at Lime Rock as well.

Currently, my plans are to attend the GS race at 3pm on Saturday.

Its great fun to watch the race cars going thru the two new chicanes, and its always entertaining watching some of the less experienced drivers over-cook turn one and drive off into the grass:) Turn one at Lime Rock reminds me of turn one/two at Suzuka.

Respectfully,

Congrats for bringing this to our attention Parnelli! I stumbled on a live feed of the Daytona 24 Hours this year, some fantastic racing there if i remember, and I remember being staggered by the variety of cars in the GT Class. Camaros, Mustangs, BMWs, Porsches, Mazda RX-8s...all sorts. Brilliant :)

Thanks for bringing this to my attention again man, if anybody has any info on how to watch this here, gimme a heads up.

Oh, and we have a similar problem with watching motorsport here. On the terrestrial channels (BBC1/2, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5) you get pretty much just F1, and the occasional World Superbikes and MotoGP. Maybe some Touring Cars, occasionally, but even then thats often shunted over to ITV4, along with the Isle of Man TT (an event I wish had so much more publicity than it has). I remember once waking up in the middle of the night and turning on Channel 5 and randomly wandering into some GT racing, so that might still be on. But otherwise, the only motorsport we can really get is occasionally on Sky Sports, but even then thats limited - no live NASCAR for 2010, for example, just hour-long highlights - and Motors TV and Eurosport pretty much cater for GT racing. Motors TV also gives us live V8 Supercars, DTM, and other things, as well as ARCA, but bizaarely, no more Trucks or Nationwide series.

Basically, we have no simple one way of getting decent motorsport here. Unless you're willing to put up with F1 only on the BBC. Eurosport and Motors TV are my motorsports salvation, otherwise, Radio Le Mans :)

Apologies for the double post, just to bring people to attention - the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen is just beginning! Should be an interesting race :)

Yea I'm glad Mazda is FINALLY not leading the entire GT-class. Then again, the live feed is just coming back on ESPN. Perhaps I spoke too soon? Let's find out.

Just got in from work and watching the first 2 hours of coverage.

I'll post some of the better photos from Lime Rock at some time.
I had a great time there, as always.
I'll have to make my way up to the Glen some time.

exciting race today with the rain and the fire. Craziness. Apparently the CTC race was just as crazy. It'll air next Sunday on Speed.

The 57 Stevenson Camaro finished 4th in GT class behind the GXP Porsche and the two RX-8's.

And I checked the qualifying for the CTC race, and the Dodge Challenger is STILL a no-show. I don't know what's going on with the Blackhole Motorsports Challengers, but they've only seen two races so far. I hope they can get everything fixed and maybe return next season and be up there with the Camaros and Mustangs and BMWs and the Subaru.

The RX8's are awesome, they didn't win today but they had a good amount of speed. The TRG Porsche took it at the end though. Pruett though, no one was touching him. Dominance on his part. Once out front it was him running away. Only cautions could bring him competition.

Porsche won? Dangit. I stopped watching after the watch came back on cuz it was Mazda 1-2-3. Again. :grumpy: Now I'm kicking my self.

Looking forward to the CTC next Sunday of course.

Huh. Weird. Wonder why they can't get their 🤬 together.

HEY! I think I see the Dodge Challenger running in the Continental Challenge Series today. :P It's third race of the season! I hope it's true...must go check.

EDIT: Nope. They weren't there. RATS! I want to see them racing again. Maybe they'll return next season.

The CTC always have excellent racing, I might do this in a year or two, three at the most. Rolex Series has good racing too. I try to watch these races whenever I can.

Team Ganassi Racing was caught with too much power last week at Mid-Ohio. As a result, They've received 3 Penalties:

1. 25 Point penalty reducing their points lead from 32 down to just 7.
2. $15,000 fine
3. 75 extra pounds have been added to the BMW this week.

Well, team Ganassi went on to win that race. Today, it was the Gainsco Chevy that one with the 01 coming in second. There was a lot of bumping and banging and heat today. The number 68 Mazda once again made contact with the 07 Corvette and ended up serving a DTP.

The Poles in both classes today were Chevy cars, with the Gainsco in DP and one of the Corvettes in GT. For about half the race, it was Chevy, Camaro, Camaro in GT, but, the leading Corvette had to pit and both Stevenson Camaros had their own issues with both getting spun and the 97 ended up crashing out. (the 97 got spun by the 66 Porsche after the 97 shoved the Porsche out of the way 'cause he was a couple laps down and blocking like it was for position. The 97 later came back and took himself out by showing just how much he didn't like getting spun out by a lapped car. The 57 Camaro was leading until the 70 Mazda RX-8 spun him out.) Interestingly enough, the two Mazdas that served DTPs today finished 1st and 2nd.

We also got to see another Camaro out on the track. Looked like it was the replacement car for one of the Corvette teams. And in my opinion, with it's white, red and black livery, it looked better than the Stevenson Camaros.

Watching the CTC race at Thunderbolt Raceway and so far a lot of craziness. Two Camaros are out due to engine failures. the #62 Camaro caught fire and then the silver and orange #06 Camaro's engine just blew up. It's a hot race.

Race over. Congrats to Rouch and Jack Rouch Jr. For their overall win and GS win. And the Mini boys see their first win in ST.

Was watching the Watkins Glen race last night (delayed) and thought it wasnt half bad (not having seen a grand am race in full before). I still cant warm to the ugliness of the DPs, there was some great racing though, espeically watching the DPs get past the slower GT cars. Love the GT cars, especially the beautiful Camaro and those awesome sounding Mazdas-they sound like a f1 car, beautiful!

Just a couple of questions for those who follow the series.

Are there many pro drivers in the field?

Where are all the Porsches in GT? Didnt there used to be a lot more Porsches in GT?

Not sure what you are asking exactly, but all the drivers are pro drivers.

Porsche doesn't give any factory support so that's why there aren't many of them.

I was trying to ask 'how many pro drivers are in the field (both classes)'.I know who Scott Pruett and a few others are (Garcia, Rice etc) but dont know many of the others especially in GT, thats why I asked. I wouldnt call Tracy Krohn a pro driver though.
