Results for qualifying 2012

Gotta remember, the results are skewed due to grand am gt running continental tires. That slows them down considerably.

Nice videos! I mainly sat in turn 6 since I was camped right behind that almost, or down between 2-3 and then during the morning hours was up right across from turn 1.

I think one of the best spots was either turn 6 or turn 5 to watch at night, too bad I slept most of the night time but the engines put me to sleep until I thought something blew up with the fireworks, yet I didn't wake up to care enough to find out.

Rather than axe the GTC cars, I think they'll get sent down to IMSA Cup. Or, it doesn't look like they're far off the Grand-am pace.

Weird, back to 2 gt classes, even though GTE was supposed to be the answer to everything.

I really hope that Gen 4 dp ends up being an LMP2 car. In the same way I hope DTM and V8's and GT500 all end up being the same. One big formula. (While they're at that, call it gt1)

BTW: Chip Ganassi openly claimes he sandbagged at the roar in a Daytona News Journal interview. I've come to expect this BS.

It why I don't pull for them! They could be best time without shady moves like that. They knew others were going to bring some strong lineups too.

I'm sure we saw each other but who knows. Did you see the Brumos VW buses? Atleast I finally picked up few diecast I was trying to find but those others they were selling at vendors outside the grand-am trailer were big money even though I wanted the Brumos transporter. The history display was nice too! We were sitting under some shade when they drove a few by.

I walked by the lot of Brumos busses a couple times Saturday night. I never went into the camp ground in turn 6 though. I was hoping I could find a Starworks shirt. I didn't though. There were more die cast there this year than I've ever seen. This race was the most populated Rolex 24 I've been to.

"I've actually come full circle on Daytona Prototypes the past few years. Okay- they aren't as attractive as the current crop of closed-top prototypes (like the Audi R18 TDI), but considering what Chevrolet did with their Corvette and making a Daytona Prototype out of that, I wouldn't be too surprised to see an Audi DP based on the R8. I'm sure this R8 wouldn't dominate like, oh... the R8 LMP of the early and mid 2000s..."

But what would you make of Audi in the DP ranks if this were to materialize?

Although I hope they do what Chevrolet did instead of just making an engine for the Riley, there are already enough of those with BMW and Ford engines.

It depends on the relevance he was talking about, because if it's technology relevant to road cars they shouldn't be in LMP1 either.

They still finished in third place. Everyone who followed the rules and placed behind them has a legitimate gripe.

Hold on, shank gets a penalty? Grand am should get a penalty for giving ganassi the race. I would be penalizing ganassi. No way the 60 car had performance penalties. Ganassi must have paid grand am even more money.

Now what makes me question it is also why wouldn't they give the 6 the same performance as the 60 considering last year they finished 1 and 3 but CGR must be worried about the other guys actually having cars that could beat him!

MSR also had that drive through penatly for passing a slower car under yellow.

That's pretty much what I'm guessing. On facebook, people were pretty mad about it. Basically, everyone but ganassi fans are ticked at grand am right now.

Scott Pruett is the only reason I have a fraction of respect for the Ganassi team.. I'm not going to discredit their victory (really guys?) but I'll agree penalizing Shank is ridiculous. Will this make some "bad blood" spill in future races?

Same here. I pretty much agree totally. Pruett is such a good guy that I can't help but like and respct him.

If they are gonna penalize Shank, why not WTR as well since they claimed "They have no chance" and yet there they were finishing 2nd? They have made themselves really look bad with this decision, I find it rediculously questionable (unfair even) and this is coming from a Ganassi fan.
