Anybody out there following the Grand Am?

Anyone else miss Leigh Diffey? Bob Varsha isn't a bad commentator, but he doesn't seem "over enthusiastic" and that showed in yesterday's Continental Tire race, it felt a bit dry. I understand not everyone liked Diffey but he always brought a sort of energy that made the broadcast even more exciting to watch. Someone also needs to tell them to stop playing so many commercials in the middle of a great on track battle, etc. Just my 2 cents..

I sorta knew I'd miss him once I heard he was going off to NBC. When I first got into Sportscar racing (Specifically at Sebring 2003), first guy I heard was Bob Varsha so its not too much a big loss, but it is quite noticeable after I've gotten used to hearing Leigh on Sportscar broadcasts.

To be perfectly honest, I don't like Bob Varsha at all. It was always nice when he couldnt make the F1 races and Diffey subbed in. But I do miss Diffey doing Endurance racing. He is much better than Varsha.

Krohn racing is on the list for the cota event. Its either a Lola or Chase chassis. I really like the krohn livery. I'm glad to see Tracy back. Oh yea, 15 cars were at the Sebring test for the alms series.. epic fail

Wonder why they were in Porsche at Rolex? I'm glad they are back to as they are one of my favorites.

I think this is a one time deal because Tracy is from Houston, and cota is in Austin. That's basically a home race for him. I think he was in a Porsche for trg because he knew he probably wouldn't be competive in DP with the Lola.

Makes sense but just didn't get that either. Hopefully next year he will run his Ferrari.

Speaking of being rich, I got a question I forgot to ask a vendor at Daytona. Does anyone have any idea of who makes the Brumos Porsche GT3 hauler that I saw one out of the box or was that one of the only 2 I've seem to read about. It was in the vendor tent who had all the Stark models FYI.

Awesome sounds:tup: I love the sounds of cars downshifting.

I went to the inaugural Indy race last year and the cars going down the front straight at Indy is awesome. The Mazda's and Porsche's were ear splitting while going full song on the front straight. It was amazing at how much the grandstands would amplify the cars exhaust tone.

Photo of looking at the ominous turn 1 at COTA from the paddock area during testing.
It still amazes me.

I just checked the entry list for COTA, and it looks like Krohn is back with the #76 Ford Lola. On top of that, we may also see the debut of TRG's Aston Martin and Wayne Taylor's second Corvette DP.

Wtrs second corvette DP from my understanding is a rental program. Its not a full team DP that's funded by Wayne. Tracy krohn is running cota because it's a home track for him. I'm glad to see him there. Doran is back for cota as well.

It was said awhile ago that the Aston Martin's would be arriving at COTA.

This should also be the first event for the Evora GX. A shame they missed Daytona as that's a great race to get a lot of kinks out early (see the Mazda 6's and last years Audi R8's). Hopefully it performs well enough to make the GX a good three-car show.

Those Aston Martin's look sexy in person and will be nice addition but still not my favorite. The Audi's just look mean but fast.

They were really fast at Daytona. I like all the GT cars personally. I wish the RX-8 was still out there week in and week out. I was really glad Racers Edge ran their RX-8 as a swan song for it at the Rolex 24.

I agree and glad we are moving out of the sea of Porsche (I like them but lets try something new for a change).

Yep. Ferrari and Audi are here. We need more Corvette in gt. That and Viper would make that class amazing. I would like to see Mazda and Aston Martin in there as well.

I'm still on the fence about COTA.. turn 1 is pretty impressive though 👍

I saw that hill from the pics on the website, and I was mesmerized. I wish I lived a little closer. I'd definitely go.

TRG is holding a contest to design the Vantage GT3's livery. I'm pretty sure there's talented Photo Shoppers here on GTPlanet, lets see what you guys can do!

Here's the info.

I would put the lightning bolt trg symbol going down both doors with a black base. I don't have the skills to draw a sketch though.
