Hi!

Now I got my PS3 to do some testing at Monza with my new car (A4) and am very pleased with it.

I only did 10 laps with Medium tires and came up 1.45.235

Good car!!!!!!!👍

1:45 seems to be the time to beat.
Since i tuned my TT-R my times have come down loads. Was really worried at the start but now i'm really happy with the handling and speed. 👍
Just cant wait to get started.

You guys and your 1:45's are sick. I think the safety car is a fun idea and would bring more realism to the race but I just don't see the point. None of our accidents have any risk of life that would require medical crews and slow moving vehicles. Nor do the accidents leave fluids and debris all across the track that would require clean up. So what would be the point of bringing the whole field under a safety car for just one lap so a damaged car can get back to the pits?
Two disadvantages I see are that much of the field is still likely to have to pass the damaged car before lining up behind safety car and we would lose the race steward during that time thus making their job more complicated.

I gotcha! 1.45.2.. with my benzo. But is too hard take this lap time all time.

After some testing in time trial mode, came to this.

Softs - 1'43.347
Mediums - 1'44.398
Hards - 1'46.451 (Damn, this guys are slippery)

Holly mother of God! Your gearbox end speed is? Damn is too fast this audi's!

Hi!

Then open the pre-season and also the DTM2 did some tests (about 10 laps with each compound tires) and my new car (A4)

I do not know why is that? Is it because I'm playing in training mode and have more grip, or else by having a new car (A4) and I'm better adapt to your driving, tell me please.

I say this because I see your times and especially in comparison with the Goruk (only because it's ranked first in the DTM), strange enough my time ....!

My times are these:

soft: 1.42.811

medium: 1.44.735

hard: 1.46.024

Finally did some testing and tuning of the GTR. Like that car! Hope to shave of some time with more tuning but it won't be much i'm affraid. That are fast lap times Goruk! Must be that extra 20kg I carry with me :D

So here are the results of the BMW:
Softs:
Fastest: 1:43.726
Avg: low 1.44.xxx

Mediums:
Fastest: 1:44.984
Avg: low 1.45.xxx

Hards:
Fastest: 1:45.698
Avg: high 1:46.xxx

So I did a little test tonight. Decided I would run five hot laps on each compound tire for times. Set up a 20 lap one make race at Monza, figuring start lap would be dealing with other cars and building heat in the tires, five laps on hard, pit in/pit out, then five on mediums, pit in/pit out and five on softs. Didnt make full use of the softs as I started running into lapped traffic half way through the stint, but I did lap the entire field by lap 19.

Vauxhall Astra 502hp 1100kg 603pp

Hard - 1:49.495
Medium - 1:47.296
Soft - 1:45.258

Total race time 37:27.761

.

Fast times guys. :worried:

My times were with full aero (for a base time) and so i started reducing it last night to see if i could get some extra speed on the long staights of Monza.
But i couldn't even break 1:46 on softs. Even with the lowest aero. Whats with that?
Didn't see much difference in speed down the pit straight either. About 173mph max.

You guys keeping wheels on track at '2nd chicane'? Lol

cunningham - all the spaces are taken at the moment but i still have not heard back from a few guys about car choice. These guys were in the frist season and wanted to be be in this one too, so giving them some extra time. I'll put you on the reserve list (you are the 5th) so keep checking back. You might get a drive. Also, if a driver knows he cant make a perticular race then you can race for them in a race. If we get enough extra people then we will run a second series.

I do like the 2nd chicane in the DTM, step over the blue band. I think that in the training mode the car has more traction in the online and these times are very hard to do ... lol

I don't think you can create advantage by lowering the aero. Like you said, I don't see my top speed increasing but I loose my grip in the corners. So my rule is: always maximum downforce! And the main advantage of softer tyres is not the speed in corners but later breaking points.

About that 2nd chicane...
Depends on what you call 'track' :) But two wheel are on the right side of the curbs. We had a gentleman's agreement for Monza in DTM1. However, if you see the replay you can see that not everybody always took this chicane as it should be.
But there's a difference between trying to take it the correct way and fail or just anticipating on that extra space you got there and take this chicane a gear higher. You can easily win a second or more if you choose the last option.

Maybe we can park the pace car there! :dopey:

I also think that taking the car aerodynamics do not win anything, I think it is even worse, since the car crash is less and less stable when cornering

... good idea, Symp of the pace car at the 2nd chicane ...

From GTP OLR Rules & Guidelines....
"B:
Two wheels (except when airborne, where the vertical projection of the car onto the track counts) must be in contact with the track/circuit which includes the rumble strips and footpaths, but not grassed areas."

I think that in 2nd chicane left wheels over the rumble strips are ok, except if you need to avoid an accident, but in that case you shouldn't take a advantage to overtake, you should wait until the car that was in front of you gets in front of you again...

Something like this

Yep, but just 1:47:025 on hard tires:tdown:

Hey JT, it just occurred to me isn't Monza available with time/weather change?💡:mischievous:

Not sure about the weather:scared:, but we could use time change... what you guys think about that?

Would be fun to have at least one race of the series with rain (or part of the race). Don't know how that works exactly. Is it at random so you have a chance of rain or is it a sure thing?

Don't know if it's wise to have this the first race though. Lots of other new things to get used to!

I would like the threat of rain at Monza. So as long as it wasnt raining when the track loads up then its ok. Then it might rain or it might not. If it does rain then the tyre compound rule wont apply and there wont be any pit windows.
We will have to see how the cars respond to the rain. If they are impossible to control then i dont think many people will want to race till the end.

This season we also have La Sarthe on the list of tracks. I would like to use the time change to make the race feel like a 24hr race (set time change to 24 should do it). Again, we would have to test the cars to see how well they can be driven in the dark.

Just some thoughts...

Threat of rain sounds nice, ill set-up the C63 so i can handle it :)

Ill open my lobby here in a bit, as a sort of practice session. I just wanna see what kind of pace i get with the Safety car compared to you lot. It'll probably be in the wet too.

Edit: Obviously, you should add me if you want to take part

So with PSN getting back online (UK & USA that i know of) the DTM1 championship will be completed this weekend. See DTM1 thread for days/times.

This means the DTM2 will start on Saturday, 28th of May with Race 1 @ Monza.
Unfortunatly, I am not going to be able to race for the first 3 races. I also might not have full internet access for those 3 weeks. So i need someone to take over the updating of this forum and the group until i get back (13th June). With there being a lot of new things going on I was hoping to be avilable for the first 2 races atleast but, it just hasn't worked out with the PSN thing.

hawkeye - we are going to do without the safety car service. dont think there is much need for it. We will still need your pace car and host services though. I'll send you a message on how everything will be setup and run closer to race day. 👍
I'll join you for some practice this week if we are on at the same time.
