Lucky 👍 , the co driver would be James Kaye I take it on the diecast?

Really enjoyed this weekend's racing. Great to see two 1-2s from the BMWs in the first two races, there's still an odd satisfaction from seeing what are probably the most "traditional" touring cars winning races. In general the BMWs have done pretty well this year but Knockhill has certainly been their best track.

And always good to see Collard winning, as he's one of the few clean racers left out there...

Good win from Newsham too. Lights to flag, no mistakes, solid drive. Thought he was going to get passed at the end but luckily he put in another couple of strong laps to hold off the challenge.

My award for "biggest air" goes to O'Neill, he really had that Toyota up on two wheels a few times. As the commentators noted, almost seeing shades of Tarquini at Donington in '94...

O'Neill definitely deserves to get a permanent drive from someone though. He really raced well this weekend, and like seeing Newsham after his win, it was great seeing O'Neill so revved up about racing. Can always appreciate it when someone looks like they're absolutely loving what they do.

original le mans etype

D-Type ;)

Amazing, the sight of a Mini Cooper holding off Porsche 911s, Marcos GTs, Ford Capris, Cortinas, Escorts, Alfa Romeos...so awesome. 👍
Sideways Triumph TR8s are great too!

BTCC really needs to have a classic car support race as a permanent fixture. 👍

Aw flip, so they showed the classics and the super tourers on the ITV coverage? Dammit. I just watched each BTCC race and then disappeared while the support races were on as normal. Will have to catch up with those somehow!

It's easy to see why Owy's so popular - whereas some drivers are po-faced if they're not winning, he's just happy to be out there, and doing a bloody good job as well :) He seemed optimistic about getting a seat for 2013 from what I remember of his interview yesterday

Anyone else stunned that they missed the race 2 restart on ITV4 due to a huge ad break?

They missed an England goal in the World Cup on ITV due to an ad break. Not stunned in any way - it's about expected.

Yeah, I was a bit cheesed off about that missed restart. The ad break lasted five laps. Normally they stick loads of breaks in when the cars aren't on circuit, which is irritating but okay, but to do so in the middle of a race when it might restart the next lap is ridiculous.

Though as Famine points out, not beyond them.

I recall shouting "🤬 ITV! Can't do anything right" at the telly when they took that ad break.

Although it pales in comparison to San Marino 2005 and that ad break...

I would rather put up with a few poorly timed ads than not have the free to air coverage at all. The ITV coverage of this is excellent apart from a few crafty ads. We could easily have to make do with highlights.

It's not impossible to have both. I don't really care how many breaks they shove in the off-track time (and they shove in a lot), as long as they leave the races alone. The average BTCC race is what, 30 minutes? That's shorter than one half of a football game, so even if a race overruns a little that's no excuse to drop in a break willy-nilly.

toc was going to get done for this being 4 wheels over although the rules state that if the wheels go across the white line then its exceding track limits he argued that at the times the wheels were over the white lines they werent in contact with the ground therefore technically the 4 wheels werent over the line

That's pretty much why he's one of my favourite drivers. He isn't the fastest or greatest touring car driver ever, but he's a nice guy in a rough sport who is always smiling and always mixing it up front.
Him and Lea Wood's efforts with the Honda Integra were pretty much what got me back into BTCC.

Same kind of applies to Rob Austin, Dan Welch and Frank Wrathall. Although with Austin and Welch its more due to their efforts trying to run their own team and actually managing to punch well above their weight as well. 👍

Also, major 👍 to Tony Hughes for handing O'Neill the drive for Croft and Knockhill. He could have easily just saved his money or sold the seat to a paying driver. I know "gentleman" drivers like Tony get a lot of stick for driving around at the back but if it wasn't for them there wouldn't be a BTCC. I hope some people realise this when they see Tony letting Paul drive.

Nice, I wondered when Bratt would make a return... there should be some good-sized grids for the last 3 rounds

Whatever happened to Mark Hazell?

I've been badly missing the BTC action recently, due to always being busy on Sundays. There's only so much you can get from reading Autosport.

Have I been missing a good season?

You have indeed! Also a quick search around youtube and you should be able to find some full length replays.
