I'm really underwhelmed by the DLC. It's pretty poor.

Spa-Francorchamps is a wonderful addition and the preview pics look great, and to be fair the kart track looks visually stunning too, but I don't race the karts so it's a wasted track for me.

The car pack is a joke. Basically a bunch of RM upgrades for models already in the game, another X2010 and some carts. More Skylines. Really Kaz? I can't believe this car pack took much time to throw together.

And more racing gear? No thanks.

Aside from Spa I'm so disappointed.

Well, we may get lucky, they are all currently too busy saying their praises for the almighty powerful Kazunori-san, overlord, messiah and prophet to the GT5 section.:lol:

I need to get some sleep, I heard there is some game coming out tomorrow I want to check out so I can see how horrible it is compared to GT5.:P

I would have loved it more if it was a NEW video instead of a re-edit of the old one.

I'm going to have to agree with people in here. The 2.0 update was not "all that". I like that the physics are getting some attention. But everything else is blah. This update is a temporary blip on the month that belongs to another game.
 
Not sure if it's a wind up or not.
My wireless PS3 is creaking towards downloading spec2, so I'm unable to verify.

$1.99 for 100 paint chips.

I know Forza is accused of charging for content already available but if this is true it's a sad day.

The anti livery brigade will be happy.
No chance of an editor with this sort of Practise.

Might be a wind up though so I appologise if it is.

It's true. Fluorescence colours. The people opposed to awful paint jobs will be upset.

Something wrong here. At least I had a free car if I bought White before.

Spec 2.meh. I really really was hoping there'd be enough to hold me at least untill my UPS guy gets his unmotivated butt in gear, but 2 hours after installing, i'm back to passing the time reading the boards here. I'm not even going over to the GT5 section. The temptation to rain on some people's parade for my own amusement is just too great.
Hurry up UPS guy.....
 
Spa is epic but the car DLC is disappointing and the racing suits as well, I dont think many people are overly interested in most of them, just the stig ones.

FM4 just needs Spa now :P

Excluding the karts and that stupid fantasy wannabe F1 thingy, all but one of the cars is Japanese and people say T10 is biased towards their own country :dunce:

Oh, and paying real money just for some car colours? Really? REALLY?

2.0 allows you to set the time and weather in Arcade and Practice.

One of those brain damaging perplexing decisions that should've been in at launch, took em a year to do but at least its in. Have been wanting this for the longest time.
 
For me GT5 is done, it was a long time ago - I havent played it since around january/february time (bar updating it I just keep wishing it was decent updates).

I dont even think I will bother with spec 2.0 its a joke.

Bring on Forza 4 !!!

Do you know what really annoys me with GT5 is how I was falsely led by GT5P. I loved hotlapping with my friends on GT5P in the time trials and I was that impressed I purchased a G25/Wheelstand Pro. I never for one minute would assume that GT5 would have far less leaderboards than GT5P.

I also annoyed at those who interviewed Kaz prior to the launch of GT5 because not one interview asked about leaderboards. Instead we had silly questions like "Does GT5 support mulitple screens" For flip sake talk about asking a question that only a very few are interested in!

I spent £300 on my PS3, £200 on wheel and it was a total waste of money. If anyone in the UK is interested im willing to sell my hardly used G25 for £80!

Yeah they were probably asking all the wrong questions but to be honest you would have assumed there was no need to ask about leaderboards, I mean what modern day game doesnt have any???

And your right - I loved GT5P too and on Forza I love comparing times against my friends (i'm not the best driver so I only glance at global times !).

I actually believe GT5P is better than GT5 - who would have thought......

Yes I agree with that.

I know I go on about leaderboards but for me its what brings life into the game and certainly extends the lifespan. For example I bet the TGTT is going to get absolutely hammered by hotlappers on FM4. The car club leaderboards are certainly going to be fasinating.

I will add that i've spent more time hotlapping on the FM4 demo than GT5. Currently have a 1.40:500 in the Zonda and a 1.34:500 in the BMW.

I would love it if GT had the same philosophy as FM when it comes to the globaility of leaderboards, you can set a time in any mode at any time, get a good certified lap while in an MP race, the time is on the leaderboards, get a good time whilst hotlapping, same thing, and get a good lap whilst racing AI in career, and it's all on the same leaderboard.

For GT to get this right, it needs to be more stable, you can't tweak physics and other things constantly, people are reporting cars are a little more grippier in the Spec 2.0 update, which would render global leaderboards invalid.. As would having different online/offline physics..

Even if doing smaller more confined leaderboards ala GT5p, the number and frequency of updates that can affect these would surely be very much a PITA..

I think we are stuck with seasonal leaderboards for the time being..

Oh GT5 had one thing that will always be better than FM4..............









...... a worldwide same day release date (if I remember correctly) i'm really jealous of everyone playing already filling up the leaderboards ha :(

I totally agree but heres my view, I think XBOX Live has a massive impact on community games. Forza games have been well implemented to utilise every aspect of Xbox Live and its fantastic. It gets everyone interested to share their times and play online.

GT5 / PD on the other hand designed GT5 (even although it has an online mode) as a single player RPG/Sim/Racing game. PSN has had no influence on the game at all. GT5P patched in a few things to become more community related but when GT5 was released it was a massive step backwards. They had some nice innovations like the community/social hub where you can chat to your mates but if you compare that to xbox you can just talk to them on party chat while playing.


There is no game on the PS3 that has a community 'feeling' in my honest opinion when I play my PS3 I still feel like I may aswell disconnect it from the internet, its not dynamic or exciting and is a console for playing single player campaign games.

Everytime I switch my Xbox on I feel like I am logging into join everyone online. From COD to Fifa to Forza I can chat to my mates cross game chat with up to 8 of them, compare achievements, see what they are playing and if its joinable - and how they are progressing through games.

Having tested it quickly, I must admit that's how I feel too.

I dunno, I think I was somehow hoping some kind of "comeback" in order to counter FM4 release. I mean, some nice improvements that would make the game feel fresh and "man I'm gonna play some GT5 again, bring up the competition!".

But from what I've seen so far, I'm pretty disappointed. Menus are still cumbersome (if a bit less laggy), loading times are still atrocious (if a bit improved), the game structure is basically unchanged (if this was a bit predictable, for "compatibility" reasons). Still the same game all in all.

Maybe if it had been released in the state it's currently in I might have enjoyed it a bit much, but many of the basic faults and shortcomings are still there.

Meh, disappointed, I am.

Edit : Most of what's been added should have been in the game to begin with, and some "taken for granted" features are still missing. I mean, some "back of the box" features are still missing about one year after release.

Meh.

This really must be intentional as its such a simple and yet obvious feature that is missing from GT5.

Yes, as is matchmaking. A feature in the manual that I thought would finally come in 2.0. But lo and behold, it's been almost a year now and it STILL is not in. It's beyond a joke at this point.

I gave it a whirl this morning, and went through all the release notes. The only menu change I saw was the addition of the DLC icon, and a small improvement on loading speed. It is indeed a complete mess still.

As for loading the tracks, at least in Arcade mode, they seemed much faster than before. At least on my system they seemed to load more than twice as fast.

The "gift" Red Bull.....wow.....that thing is B E A S T. It's godsmack fast, and I really do like the design. The cockpit view is tight. Took it on the ring, and you HAVE to be good with that car, because it's so dang fast.

Unfortunately, other than what you see in the release notes, it still hasn't addressed many of my complaints. Substandard physics, horrible menu layout, no YouTube uploading, standards are still standards, Laguna Seca is still a nightmare of inaccuracies, damage physics are still unrealistic as is the deformation visuals, no matchmaking and countless others.

The DLC coming up looks good to me though. I want Spa, so I will be buying the entire bundle for the $12. But they want me to pay for PAINT CHIPS? WTF is that?
