Don't say that word! Lol.

I reported him.

Well, I don't know if it went through (iPad app is sketchy sometimes). If it didn't no biggie the moderators frequent this thread for obvious reasons.

He keeps posting this annoying links that have nothing to do with what he claims.... the first one sends me to the youtube search page. :dunce: and the second one to GTplanet news about Gran Turismo 5′s Data Logger that isnt even available in game (and we dont know if it will be)...

You see, having owned and played Forza 3 and 4, I feel slightly different about what people say about the physics in those two games.

I think people were too harsh on F3, IMO it seemed some people tried to play it off as if it played like an NFS game. While I wouldn't go as far as to say it had uber-realistic physics, I don't think it was fair to call it an arcade racer like I have seen many do.

With F4 I've already beaten the World Tour mode and am just finishing off the events I didn't get around to from the events list (level 62), but after that much time spent I just don't feel F4's physics are as realistic as GT5s. While I don't think neither game has physics that are as close as some other games out there (fabled PC sims), I feel GT5 got it better. I find F4 too "forgiving" at times, even with assists off you almost have to try on purpose to lose control of a car (this obviously excludes some high-powered monsters though). I find with some cars, it's easier to drive with assists off then in GT5 with some of the assists on in that game.

For example, I drive a '92 LX Mustang in RL which is similar to the '93 Cobra R, in F3 and F4, but I find in those two games I have to drive the car like I want to kill myself in order to kick out the back end where with real-life Fox Body Mustangs it's really not that hard, even stock.

I have read the posters here who feel F4 has better physics, but after so many hours into the game I just don't feel it. I should note this is just me and I'm not preaching this as if it was fact.

Do not keep just posting meaningless links, either contribute to the discussion or be removed from it.

I've not had a problem getting the back out on any car (that should do it), will have to give this one a go.

Actually, I think I should clarify, I think it's easy to kick out a car's back end but what I mean is it's really difficult to get into an uncontrolled skid even with some super cars. The end result IMO is I feel some cars and drive train types that are difficult to drive are much easier. I guess the best way to put it is it seems there is a tad bit more grip than real-life cars would.

The other thing is I'm not a fan of how driving off track is like going through quicksand. I know this has been implemented for game balance and anti-cheating purposes, but it really kills the experience for me. Granted, GT5's off track physics are wonky but at least it doesn't instantly stop you. This is probably a subjective issue, because I know some people who like this feature.

Out of curiosity, what do you drive with and what assists do you use?

I have no idea how to embed as the Youtube tags never work for me.

You have no idea what the Forza video is showing, do you?

Standing start, high powered rear drive car. No steering input what so ever. The car should veer off and spin out.

Well it would be nice if you actually said what you were trying to show, as far as I'm concerned you got a Burnout just like the title of your video wanted. 👍

My video and here it is in its original context...

Pre or post the last update?

Post update the assist on simulation steering was removed and its made quite a difference.

I would however agree its still a little easier that it should be to catch a car (up to a certain point) in FM4, however its far harder to catch a car than it should be in GT5. GT5 seems to initiate a massive tankslapper almost by default.

As I race on-line a lot in FM4 I actually don't mind it, and find it nor more or less realistic that the super slippy grass in GT. Personally I would rather move to a proper flags and penalties system and have off-track behaviour modelled correctly.

:dunce: Sorry, Fyreandice.

I will do just that! Although I already know it's most likely not possible due to the way GT's starting physics are.

The 4th gen (1995) Mustang Cobra R isn't available to the public in FM4 yet. You have the 2000 Cobra R and 2005 Mustang GT. The other Mustangs are older than 4th gen

Starting physics? Are the starting physics different than "going" physics? I dont understand.

Since online/offline physics in GT5 are different it wouldnt surprise me...but can you explain what you mean?

For me personally, It seems as though the car has a set amount of grip for about a second after you start, regardless of tyre choice. This is one of the things that's always bugged me about GT, after this the Car and tyre choice seems to "kick in" I may be talking crap but I've always felt it.

He's talking about the 3rd Gen '93 Cobra R that's in the game. (3rd gen went from '79 to '93)

Okay so I got my results:

DS3:Nothing, car was practically a Sceltrix car. Slight move of the steering and then it would go.

DFGT: Car Automatically flung itself to the side due to force feedback, not sure if this can be considered legit but it done it albeit in a slightly longer time frame than the vid of FM4!

So:
GT better in simulation
Physic
Features like dynamic weather condition or night
Good sound
Forza better in sound :P

Any way. For people who only wants to hear there cars , take forza
For people who wants simulation, dream night race and an adesome detail of the cars, take GT5

Awesome*

Awesome* sorry

Wow, really?

Do you not see the edit button there? If I can blunt for a moment: have you actually played Forza 4, 3, 2, or 1? If not... you're an ignorant fool.

Guess which way I'm leaning toward...

Hold the steering straight (which is what I have done on both GT5 and FM4 tests - in the FM4 video you can see the front wheels stay straight), the force feedback is a false effect.

All that should be happening is coming from the rear of the car (not the steering).

Seriously you haven't actually had any experience with Forza at all have you.

Regardless of that you are also simply stating lists, actually provide something to back your claims up, explain why you think GT5 is a better sim or has better physics.

Fail to do so again and I will give you a two day holiday for spamming up the thread.

GT5 looks a bit different.

GT5 looks a bit different.

That looks beautifull... the livery editor, car costumization, real track list, sounds, better damage modelling, better selection of race cars, better DLCs and from what I can gather on par physics really make me wish I had bought a X box instead...

Just for you...

...messing around on the TG track.
