Gran Turismo 6 E3 2013, General discussion(Live streaming links).

Well, nobody asked them to include the old work. But since they did, it must be included in the statistics: there IS sense since those cars will be once again part of this "new philosophy" game. I wish they could, but no: they can't be just archived as "old cars, old work", because they're still there, and will be there for a while. Besides, GT5 had a premium Cappuccino and a standard Veyron. This more or less resembles what I mean when I say that "we know how PD works".

Yes, they are part of the statistics. But when you use that statistics and claim that PD only cares about Japanese cars, you're using the statistics in a bad way because it's not telling the truth.

If you want to make a statement on what their current philosophy is when it comes to car selection, ten year old data is useless - if you're interested in accurate statistics you must go for the most recent. In this case it's the premium cars.

Doesn't seem that derogatory.

To some it is. I'm pretty sure it is by GTP policy.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese

It's safest not to use it.

The sunset on the Matterhorn looked great, at the very end of the video. I wonder if time change will be included on one of their Mountain Fantasy tracks, too.

So... We're meant to ignore Standards when it's convenient (graphic quality, world region representation), but count them when it is as well (the ever-important car count, the "variety" of cars)?

The Standards still represent PD's way of thinking with regards to the car list's regional preferences: they wanted to include them, all of them, after all. The newly presented cars might hint at a less Japanese-heavy influence. But it might not. The Touring Car DLC didn't exactly help, and those were Premiums.

If those +100 RX-7's, Miata's, and Skyline's were Premium, how would this whole discussion go? I, for one, wouldn't count the TC DLC in the car count nor as adding to the list of Japanese cars though incidentally it consists of mostly Japanese cars. Not everybody has the same point-of-view.

Oh man, give me a break. I didn't want to start an argument on this, but enough is enough.
First off, I wouldn't feel insulted if someone used the abbreviation ITA refering to italy, as much as I don't think any american in here would feel frustrated if someone used the word "USA" instead of The united states of america. I don't think there are many Mexicans or Texans feeling deprived of their human rights because their tipical food is known as TEX-MEX, either. Now, if Japanese is against GTP rules, so it should be using UK for United kingdom.

Further: luckily, we are discussing about videogames and cars, so there's little chance to actually offend someone. I mean, you could say that FIAT cars are a PIECE OF JUNK, and I can ensure you that no italian with an IQ higher than room temperature would feel neither insulted or bashed.

Having said that, though: I like Japanese cars, I OWN a Japanese car, but I'm just TIRED of seeing my favorite game flooded with skylines. And YES, imho Japanese cars are junk, if compared to Ferrari, Porsche, Aston Martin or BMW, and we could definitely have seen more of them on GT. I reiterate it, and I'm ready to swear it in front of a court.

I suspect that you're just trying to make me feel guilty because you didn't like the topic I put up.

I think that question has not been addressed yet.
Now that I think about it, they didn't say when (or how) tessellation is being used.

You're wrong (don't know if I chose the right term), but hopefully, someone else can help explain why. I CAN say that it will be utilized during gameplay.

So tessellation only work for photo mode right?
I guess it would be for races too. The great thing about tesselation is that it can make things look better, and run faster at the same time. So, if implemented correctly, there is no real reason not to use it while racing.

The term was used as a derogatory in WWII and has remained that way.

UK USA or such is just an abbreviation where the term Japanese refers to specific people in a derogatory way and is frowned upon and/or considered racist by many.

I hope so...:)

If the term 'Japanese' is banned by the forums and is considered offensive by some Japanese people, it would be easier to just add five letters, instead of struggling to justify saying something that could be viewed as racist because you can't be bothered to type out the whole word.

It's not guilt tripping, it's logic.

One thing is what the company says and another what we think.

What I do is only counting premium cars. PS2 cars cannot be compared with PS4-gen content.

How can you tell that I'm wrong if you need another one's explanation as to why I'm wrong? =/
I don't want to seem like I have more knowledge than I actually do on these subjects. I hear and learn from others, but I won't be able to explain in the particular way that they can. I edited my post to say that adaptive tessellation will be used during gameplay (and well, replays) and I stopped right there. And I'll just stop right here.

I guess it would be for races too. The great thing about tesselation is that it can make things look better, and run faster at the same time. So, if implemented correctly, there is no real reason not to use it while racing.
This is one explanation 👍, but I know it can be further explained in GREAAAAAT :) detail by fellow members.

@another_jakhole
Can you deliver a source (for example, a quote from Kaz) to prove your statement? This has nothing to do with "pretending to know more than one actually knows", it's... research.

Adaptive Tessellation is a technique in which the closer you get to an object the mesh becomes higher polygon count and better looking. Check out the Nvidia demo from 2 years ago. The technology has only improved. Basically it is a simple cheat that if the object is further from the camera it renders it in lower quality but as you get closer it becomes better looking and more realistic.

And all I had to do was:
https://www.google.com/search?q=ada...tion&aqs=chrome.0.57&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

And STILL there are other people on this forum that can explain in further detail. Oh, and I don't believe Kaz ever mentioned how it works. One of the other employees of PD might have.

Ain't it in short just JP anyway?
 So true. His excuse should have been that it's his manner of speaking and not that it was just a way to shorten it. He could have used "JDM" instead so he just dug himself a hole.

Look, Fogerty_Jr, they'll move on, you'll move on. Let's learn and now forget the controversy.

I know what tessellation is, I was talking about townnet's question whether it will be used during gameplay (or at least replays) or just photomode (which is a good question by the way).

Logically then, the question should have been asked the other way around since I figure that it will obviously be used during gameplay.

It seems to me, that's the whole point of having adaptive tessellation. Improved graphics and lower processing overhead during gameplay and for other areas of the game.

But the point is, it's all speculation for now. I also have heard from some forum posts that using tessellation on PS3 in real-time makes little sense. And until we hear anything from Kaz/PD (or see some sort of proof in-game), we can't answer that question.

People have been told off by mods for using that word. I'm just giving you a heads up. No need to get overdramatic. Also as pointed out by others, the word is not the same as UK, ITA, USA etc. That would be JP or JPN.
