MP4 certainly kicks ass as a video format, .qt is the same as .mov, they're both the QuickTime format and I was told they were both simply containers for MPEG4 video.

I hear there's a few new formats emerging that actually support multiple container formats, I can't remember the names.

donde se puede conseguir la demo de gt4 bmw serie 1¿?
lol..... its not available yet, coming in september.
But you can watch the videos that amar is sharing with us for now :)

Anybody see Speed Sunday? The game was on there, they were driving the Nurburgring and Johnny Herbert said the track seems flat compared to the real track which is a little disappointing.

Yeah, I saw it. My only comment is that perhaps he was using an outside car view for it, as that would give him a view over the crest. Though in most the footage it should a bonnet camera..you never know.

Yeah I saw it to.......I was going to record it for GTPlanet but I didn't get my camera in time!......there wasnt that much footage in it anyway.......the only thing that sounded alarming was the fact that (as you have said) the track is rather flat compared to the real one.....Why can't PD do all those dip's and bumps?.....Whats his name (the presenter) cant drive well on a PS2 I can see!!! I noticed the new dials and the impact effect.....thats the first time ive seen footage of the NUrb on a TV screen and it looks alot better than on computer......

I can't wait to take a spin in a DB9 round there!!......but PD, sort out the topography please!!!!

I taped it :) if I capture it will I be able to upload it here?

Cool.......I glad someone got it!........You could upload it by asking someone to host or you could ask Jordan to include it on the GTPlanet videos......I'm sure he wouldnt mind at all........the feature on speed sunday wasn't too long!

Maybe he was referring to the actual road bumpiness and not the elevation changes. I've seen a lot of fixed cam-car video laps at Nürburgring and the GT4 version feels a little too smooth, almost like a regular closed-circuit track. Expecially at the Karussel curve, in the real life track, the road is very bumpy and irregular and the car will normally try to bump and rebound everywhere (in real life videos you can hear the engine having a hard time revving up because of this). And no way a BMW 110i with no more than 150 hp could lift off the front wheels that much at the "jumping sections" of the Nürburgring (I don't remember the exact names, wasn't one of them the Flugplatz?). Not even a BMW M5 with over 400 hp could!

A little off topic: people, stop calling it "the Nurb" :yuck:
You can write it "Nürburgring", "Nuerburgring" (When you can't insert a "ü", it's acceptable writing it this way), "Nordschleife", but "The Nurb" sounds and is just horrible!

Im sorry but I aint gonna type the whole damn thing everytime I wana talk about it!!!!!!!!!!!

......actually I dont even know how to spell it or type it quickly!

The fact a race driver tried the game and also took a DB9 around the track and said those things even though the PD team measured the track within 15mm is kinda disappointing imo. Come on PD we want to race the Nordschelife for what is it not a track that only resembles it !! :)

That speed sunday is a very cool program also and I loved the BTCC before it and would like to congratulate SEAT and Jason Plato for being on form again, Plato is one of the cooler drivers !!

What about using abbrevations like we do with other GT tracks (my suggestion)? Examples:

Grand Valley = GV
Grand Valley East = GVE
Special Stage R11 = SSR11

Nürburgring = NR
Nürburgring-Nordschleife (which is the same thing) = NRNS

Just my .02 €

Yeah that would be better........NR...............like when we use PD KY and GT......I don't think those have really ever been fully named! I think people would eventually realise that NR means Nürburgring.................Good idea! 👍

Yeah! I don't understand why PD can't get it 0.01 mm accurate! whats the problem.....are there measuring tapes wrong or something! That is pretty poor...it also makes me wonder......are the cars sizes just 'guessed' then!!! so the EVO is actually 15mm longer!!!!

Yeah speed sunday rules (Vicky Butler Henderson  :D )...........I don't understand why they don't have the new MG ZS and Astra on the track yet!......also it was quite funny how they managed to always have one accident through the first hairpin!

........and was the hell was the womans formula championship afterwards!! It makes me cry when they smash up those brand new RX 8's :(

Right...this post will most probably make me one of the less likeable people here, but here goes.

If someone comes up with a truly dreadfull game then it's okay to start complaining, I will probably start to point and frown as well. But my goodness there is a couple of whingers here. People have been complainging about a few things in the past, and now there is this. Gran Turismo 4 is probably one of, if not THE, most anticipated games of 2004 and we all know that it will be great. But still there are some who think it fit to complain about this and that.

In the real world ones liver might be shaken out of it's mountings by the bumps and undulations on the track. Now chances of Polyphony Digital to encorporate that fully into the game is slight, unless that is someone comes up with a seat that vibrates and comes equipped with a seatbelt in case you might be sent flying out the window. Making camera vibration effects is fine when crashing, but that's exactly what you will be doing if everything goes blurry on the road because of a rough track surface.

So, Nürburgring Nordschleife is a few millimeters out compared to the real thing, the horror! If PD weren't restricted with hardware capabilaties, then I'm shure they would have gotten it spot on, right down to that little purple flower that grows next to Fuchsröhre. PD are trying their absolute best to bring us a great game that is as realistic as they can possibly make it. Lets just apreciate what they are doing for us GT (and motoring) enthusiasts and look foreward to the game.

Hiroke it's the track surface we're on about not the bloody scenery, if there is a bump on the road that racers have to watch out for on the NS and you race round in GT and don't feel this then that's where the disappointment comes in, after all we heard the DB9 regulating it's throttle round the corkscrew, when you see those kinda images and also hear someone who actually does race round the track complain about these things then you can't help but feel a little disappointed.

Remember people who play these games also usually watch racing or goto tracks and they like to see the and feel virtually the same thing they do on a SIM.

I just wanted to see all the punch ups. That was my highlight.

I don't know if it was just my way of reading it, but some of them comments they made about being 15cm out is too much seemed very sarcastic to me.

He was specifically reffering to how you could see over the crest much earlier in the game than in real life. And how some depressions were less prominent in the game.

I take it math isn't your strong point? 15mm = 1.5cm not 15cm

Or he's just busy with other commitments, he did say he was a journalist after all. Also I wonder if this full lap vid on one of the biggest GT forums on the web is a ruse (sp?) to keep the excitement high.

Can mods do a check and see if his IP is really croatian? ...what can I say it's the skeptic in me. Man I need sleep.

I must say amar has been great to us, what with informing us and the video. Would be interesting to see how the 120d compares with the 120i, both in terms of performance and handling.

I'm thinking the diesel will have more torque and better gas mileage, if fues consumption is intergrated into racing.

First my apppologies, Jordan is first on the list (for keeping the sever opened) because I did nothing this weekend.

I've just got back from a little trip, and unfortunatelly, in less then 48 hours I'll be heading to my vacation which will last untill mid August.

I'm not sure will I be able to hook up Calisto to do the promised vids, but I'll see to do them before I leave. If so, I'll be happy for not letting down all of you who are waiting for them.

And as for _aj's notice, just one info: I am Croatian, and there is no need to check my IP for that, but please do so if ya want. I'm heading to the vacation on Croatian Adriatic coast and islands, one of the most beautiful places in the world, and you're all invited to come here and have the time of your life.

After all, Croatia is a small country fot the Gran Turismo, so check it for yourself:)

Hope I'll se ya all before Tuesday night.

Thanks for the update, amar. I was just looking at some photos of Croatia, and it is very beautiful. It certainly does have some patriotic citizens! :) I'm sure you'll have a great time.
