When the room has more than 5 people I lag out. Every single time. I always have to leave when the racing gets good.:(
On a side note if it's over 2 gig I might be looking at 48 hours plus. Man that's lame:(

It only takes 4 people for my connection to crap out.

On the computer, I could download a 1 GB file in a couple hours, but then I remember how much slower the PS3 is at downloading...

- 16 opponets on track online/offline.
- Nope just overcast/clear, no rain. Said left out to keep 60fps.
- Yes, variable times of day, but no night.

- Nascar? Yeah. Australian V8Supercars, and your standard GT1/2 etc. I wont get into why I think PD shouldnt have put in Rally, NASCAR etc.

It has nothing to do with frame-rate. Their engine just can't do it. They have no good particle engine nor lighting engine that can cast real-time lights. That's why they've choose IBL.

Probably the biggest problem I see with online lobbies is the brony fad. Within a few days of the implementation of a livery editor, every online lobby would be full of powder blue paint, rainbow stripes, rainbow bolts, and the number 20. But honestly, as much as My Little Pony makes me rage, it would be a small price to pay for the ability to make my cars look more like racing cars (it'd make online leagues look a lot more realistic as well).

Also, to the guy who says MLP liveries would be fine by him: ...really?

It guess it might have something to do with the fact that I'm still kind of sore over what went down a few months ago involving bronies and the funny pic thread.

The funny part isn't that you are still whining about it. Your inability to let anything go was obvious when you started that long rambling flame war in response in the actual thread before you got tossed out of it by the moderators because you were trolling.

No, what is funny is your incessant need to mention these things off hand tacked onto the end of posts just because you need the ability to bitch about them in completely unrelated topics. Go make another whiny post on some other forum again instead rather than spam up unrelated discussions that already constantly derail themselves.

One person's opinion (blown out of proportion) has cemented in your reasoning for being closed minded about a great game?
That is by far the most narrow minded and pathetic thing I've ever heard. Not only is that an unnecessary bash once again based on what you don't want, but you make these claims as if you somehow know how to make a car game. Its also obvious judging by your other posts you:

A. Don't know anything about Forza
B. State your opinions as fact

And you apparently aren't familiar with PC Racing Sims since they for years have allowed people to have custom Liveries. You want to label PC Sims like Rfactor "kiddie need for speed game" too? Since when does customization "Diminish" anything?

vandaliser has an interesting way of viewing Forza's feature set. If Forza has something that GT doesn't, the feature is actually so stupid and pointless that it makes Forza worse for having it. Unless it is pointed out to him that GT has it as well, at which point Forza obviously stole it or Forza does it so terribly that it isn't worth mentioning.

The only reason this is interesting is because unlike most people who carry such opinions, vandaliser has admitted point blank that he has never played Forza, and the interest comes from the fact that he's self-admitted that he has no idea what he is talking about.

Has PD released what content will be in the 2.0 update yet?

Sorry, i don't fancy reading through 112 pages to find out.

Thanks!

Surely it can't be difficult to read the news page, can it?

Even if that is the case it doesn't mean they've suddenly forgot how to do nightracing. Yes if you want to get technical their engine right now can't do night racing, in the same way it couldn't do moving aero and backfire in FM2/3. Those are now in FM4 but it's the same engine, just upgraded. That is exactly what night racing and weather would be, upgrades to the engine.

It means they just don't want to do it. If they really wanted - they've find the way. FM4 has enough content to sell well. T10 knows that. You already buy it so why put more that it needs to sell?

If FM5 will have night/wet races - it will be another game that you want to buy, and they have time to really concentrate on night/wet races.

So again, anyone think that the list was all there was? Or do you think there is more big stuff he isn't mentioning?

To be honest I think that it's obvious that there's going to be more content coming in Spec II. If you look at the Spec II trailer photo you can see different race modded cars for one. I also have a feeling that they might add a few tracks maybe from past gt's in Spec II as well.I remain optimistic that PD will give us a few surprises in Spec II.

The reason we discuss forza is because the odd release dates of both spec 2.0 and forza 4, and that is because PD are affraid of loosing customers to turn 10.
You are forgetting that Kaz works for SONY. And Japanese are good company men, whether they want to be or not. It's a completely different philosophy than here in the west. Or have you forgotten that MS and SONY are locked in a gaming cold war?

There's the GT Forza discussion thread, please everyone who is off topic please go and use it, this is getting ridiculous.
That's not a very friendly place sometimes. I don't think many of us like it. Besides, what's with everyone playing minimod all of a sudden? ;)

Bickering over rivals is human nature. You are one, right? You should be used to this.

Yeah but GT5 dissapointed very very very lot of gamers! I hope the gamers will buy the next game... We know it can get only better, but did the casual gamer know that!?
Apparently, the casuals don't care, just us die hards. And if you don't think GT6 will sell by the truckload... ;)

I seem to remember kaz stating at one point that gt would a need 10 gig install, maybe this update along with previous/future updates will take our total installed file size close to this, personally i think it will be 1.5 for spec 2 my install is at 6.8 gig so spec 2 would be huge to get to 10 gig, i think it will be close to 10 by the end of gt's life though.

So, anyone care to sum up what Ive missed over the past 10 pages or is it all just FM4 Vs GT5 crap and ranting about stuff thats pointless?

I'm telling you Max, I was driving on the ring with my Mustang Cobra R and I'm looking at the standard cars confused because they look so better. My brother was getting mixed up with the standards and premiums. It was funny because I know my GT and he's telling me which cars are premiums which really are standards while I race. I accepted your FR. 👍

Thank you sir!

I do think that it's only some of the cars. The '64 Pontiac Le Mans GTO has been noticeably cleaned up over the past few months. A lot of jaggies are gone, and the finish on the body is stunning.

You know, I was also thinking the same thing as well. When I drove my Prelude Si for the Japanese Seasonal, it seemed to be a lot nicer looking than usual. Then I did a replay and saw the pixelated molding around the windows and was thinking maybe I was wrong lol.

But I do think the standards have gotten an extra sheen to them in the previous updates, that much seems for sure.

I have also noticed that the cars in the garage selection screen look great. It's hard to tell the difference between some standards and premiums while browsing through your auto's (I am not talking about the small pictures either).

The funny part isn't that you are still whining about it. Your inability to let anything go was obvious when you started that long rambling flame war in response in the actual thread before you got tossed out of it by the moderators because you were trolling.

I wonder how many of YOUR posts do the same? I am sure it would be easy to see your colored posts, you have 19,000 of them after all to choose from.

Don't bother commenting on things you don't understand. If there is some legitimate hypocrisy with any of my posts, feel free to point it out. But idle bitching simply based on the fact that I post is a waste of my time to read and a waste of your time to express.

Well, you've certainly been quick to dismiss a lot of posts if they don't track your train of thought. ;)

Just consider the number of times you've posted "sales have no correlation at all with the quality of a game." No one believes that, not developers or publishers or gaming journalists, just a handful of naysayers. You bring up the Sonic series every time, as if there were a dozen copycats to chose from. First of all, I haven't played one I thought was rubbish. Second, Sonic fans don't have much choice, but it seems like GT to be everyone's whipping boy. Now if you'd brought up Pokemon or the Sims, you might have something there...

People vote with their wallets, and there are quite a few racing games to chose from besides Gran Turismo. So yes, it does seem that you get some kind of weird thrill about arguing for the sake of it.

sorry to bring this up as i hardly ever write here, firstly, very excited about the update, more than i could imagine. Now, when it comes to comparing to forza, i think its resonable to do so, as in comparing this new update to what forza has/will have.

As we all know, we can choose what content we want, buy gt5, buy forza, buy both, who cares. What is important is that the fans of GT has the freedom to express themselves in a GT forum, if by all means not all are satisfied then it is their right to say so, even if they feel it is necessary to compare to another game. Polyphony are in the gaming buiz, and GT fans want a good game, is it good as it is? yes i think so, but we all have our rights to think different. I for one would love a livery editor, as i dont give a f about what people do with their own game.

I'll reserve judgement on the stand cars interiors till I see them, its certainly not all cars premium like it should be but its a start. If its just a silhouette like GT PSP then its a pretty poor effort. EDIT- I've seen the screens and yeah its a silhouette although the open top standard cars have had a good interior job done.

And the new premium they do add, another GT-R :ouch: Oh well better than nothing.

Maybe we should do what the thread title says and actually talk about the patch. Just a thought. :)

How about the improved AI, what do you guys expect this to be? More aggressive maybe? Faster? What ever it is, this is the piece of the patch that i am most interested ... and hoping for a premium veyron.

Well, you've certainly been quick to dismiss a lot of posts if they don't track your train of thought. ;)
The only posts I dismiss are those where no thought went into them. maxpontiac's above post, which basically translates to "I'm mad that you post so much" when he has no idea what the issue even was in regards to White and Nerdy's post, is one such example.

Just consider the number of times you've posted "sales have no correlation at all with the quality of a game."
I think you'll find that the closest I've come to saying that is stating how correlation does not equal causation, which is pretty important considering how frequently people try to use sales as definitive proof in their arguments.

You bring up the Sonic series every time, as if there were a dozen copycats to chose from.
Only for the purposes of making a comparison to how this fanbase has been acting since GTPSP came out.

So yes, it does seem that you get some kind of weird thrill about arguing for the sake of it.
Or, perhaps I find people stating falsities to advance their own opinions abominable.

With a post count like yours, you must get quite a tickle out of "correcting" people. ;)

By the way, what sort of "comparison" are you talking about? Sonic fans like Sonic games, and GT fans like GT games? Not seeing much of a point, there...

It has nothing to do with frame-rate. Their engine just can't do it. They have no good particle engine nor lighting engine that can cast real-time lights. That's why they've choose IBL.

Where is this stated? Please back up your claim.

It's not stated anywhere. You can infer from it that it hurts the framerate - never said how badly, though it is strange that T10 dropped night racing completely.

What's up guys? I guess I'll put my two cents in. I am excited with any change/update with the game regardless if it's a feature I want or not. A lot of work goes into updating this game. I won't complain about it because I know that the game is someone's vision and no matter what is done, some people still will not be happy. I'm happy that PD is at least trying to please us. Lastly, that GT vs FM thing. Just a thought. Does it really matter which one is better when they are exclusive to different game systems? We already made our choice when we decided which system we would purchase. I would understand if we were talking about a game that's on PS3. I just don't think that the release of this update will have any effect on FM sales or the other way around because the fan base is already in place. Again, just my two cents.
