A couple videos of the start (I don't have time for any video production more involved right now):

The stewards are wrapping up their review of reported incidents and should have rulings by the end of the day.

Wow, was a great start actually! I love as the cars come up the hill, sounds like someone is shooting bullets at you as the cars whiz by the camera view

INCIDENT RULINGS:

GTP_Matthew is being penalized 4 championship points for two infractions:
  • First, for not observing the blue flag for an extended period when PASM (the leader at the time) was trying to lap him on lap 30 (Bart's lap). Matthew had ample opportunity to move over on the approach to the tunnel and even defended against a pass from Bart going into the chicane after the tunnel. A lap later Bart was forced to make a draft pass on lap 31 going up the hill after turn 1 and Matthew defended that to the point where both cars incurred minor damage.
  • Second, during the same stretch (Lap 29 for Matthew), Matthew attempted a pass on the final corner against Tidgney. It was a risky move, but Tidgney did leave a small window open inside Matthew established some overlap so the attempt itself wasn't the problem. However, Matthew did not successfully make the pass without contact. Matthew could not maintain the inside thus did not allow Tidgney room outside per the OLR, made contact sending Tidgney into the barrier and then did not concede the spot gained per the OLR.

GTP_Calcifer is being penalized 3 grid spots in the next Grand Prix for div bombing:
  • On Lap 59 (calcifer's lap) approaching the chicane Jammy had at least 5 car lengths lead going into the chicane and in no way was a safe or clean pass possible in the situation. No overlap was established prior to the turn in point (per the OLR) and Calcifer should have backed off before contact was made.
  • The above was the most blatant infraction, but there were two similar incidents with the same two drivers earlier in the race (lap 30 + lap 48). A pass should not be attempted unless there is a reasonable expectation that it can be done safely. Dive bombing will not be permitted and overlap must be established before an attempt to pass is made.

GTP_RPH is being penalized 3 grid spots in the next Grand Prix for failing to observe the Blue Flag:
  • Red failed to allow Jammy to lap him during a stretch from lap 59 to lap 61. During the same period he did allow other drivers to lap him (which Jammy also let by). After being contacted, RPH thought that Jammy was not sufficiently close to warrant the blue flag, but the admins all agree that there were several times Jammy was right on his bumper and the blue flag should have been observed.

NOTE: The next Grand Prix is defined as the next race in this series that the driver participates in. If the penalized driver skips the next race the penalty will carry forward to the next race and so on.

All other reports not mentioned above have been investigated and ruled racing incidents. Once incident reported included a very vague reference to the lap/time and was not found after searching 4-5 laps so is being dropped. From now on, don't waste our time, if the incident isn't reported with the exact lap and time of the incident the admins will not bother to investigate.

Also, please do not report very minor issues that have no significant impact on the race outcome. Everyone makes minor mistakes, especially in these cars. At the same time we want drivers to aware of mistakes so they try their best not to repeat them. Therefore for very minor incidents please contact the other driver first via PM and attempt to come to a mutual understanding that the issue will not be repeated. If a satisfactory outcome cannot be reached by that means then contact the admins.

As a general rule in this series the admins are applying penalties to the race in which the incident occurred (points) and relative to the gain observe by the offending driver and/or the cost to the offended driver. The number of points deducted will depend on the outcome of the race and the level/quantity of infractions. For drivers that have not earned any championship points (or whose infraction penalty exceed their points) will receive a grid spot penalty in a future race.

All these decisions have been discussed among the admins and are now final. There is no appeals process. If the admins are in any disagreement about an incident we will contact the drivers involved before making a ruling for their input/story before making a judgment. Once the penalties are announced the matter is closed.

An updated points table will be posted shortly.

PS> All the above not withstanding I thought the drivers did an amazing job in a *very* difficult race. The most challenge race I've ever done that's for sure and from my perspective I wasn't involved in a single incident on either side of the coin. 👍 👍 Now I'm really gutted to miss Germany.

The deltas in the results table are off.

Notice in the 2nd start video, 4 then 3 wide behind Bart and James. It was pretty scary in the race and a big 👍 to everyone for not taking each other out.

Will fix the table... and yes the start was amazing... Dr Watson got pinballed and crashed, but it turned out to be a case of teleport lag... there were some strange things going on in the room at the start which made it even more amazing we made it through lap 1 so cleanly.

Fixed! Now I get the award for most positions gained. :sly:

Just a typo in the formula in google.

yeah, looks like it's easier to lose a lot of positions at Monaco than the reverse. ;)

Interesting to see the 4 cars on the lead lap doing 2, 3, and 4 stops. And Twissy and PASM only 15s apart after 78. :embarrassed:

Two infractions... I'm speechless. :guilty:

I can't check the replay to see the infractions for myself as I'm currently away from home, and neither infraction is shown on the live stream; I'll just accept that they happened. I would like apologise to both Bart and Tidgney for these incidents.

@All... the thread, registration system and practice leaderboards have been reset for the next GP:

The lead up to the German GP starts now!

{Twissy is the first one to register 👍}

Sent you a PM with a link to the video.

Bloody hell, Bart is eager to race this one, he's registered himself twice!

And for all those who can't face a 2 hour long replay, here's the highlights, which cuts out 50%, and brings it down to a mere 1 hour extended highlights...there was just too much excitement to cut it down further!

Signed up :).

The registration form is showing dates for the Monaco event in the body, though the header is OK.

I'll fix all the bugs later. Sorry, you guys don't get any beta test fees.

Fixed.

Btw, the practice leaderboards are only showing up 3 of the sector times 👍

Bart must have double clicked submit because two entries of his had the exact same timestamp down to the millisecond so the system got all confused trying to figure out which was the latest. I just deleted one of those and it's good.

That or Bart was trying to get double points in this round.

PS> Gutted I'm missing this GP as it's now becoming real... Monaco is nearly my worst track in the game (of real world tracks) and GP/F probably one of my best. :( I may try to run some laps to post to the leaderboard at least. What are people doing with the setup? More of a normal setup like we ran at Suzuka or Spa last year? I assume it can be a lot stiffer than what was run at Monaco.

PPS> The only change for Germany in the format is the Friday practice session is at 19:00 GMT just like the Thursday session. But of course drivers are welcome to stay in the lounge for as long as necessary... I think we ran for 5+ hours on Friday for Monaco.

PPPS> We need the B lounge for our weekly events this week, but in mid June I'll switch the default track of GTP_3D3_B over to GP/F and it'll be semi-dedicated to this series. Unless of course we start getting 25 sign ups every week for our weekly events... in which case I may create a special lounge just for this series... will see how it goes.

Just watched Oink video. Really nice organized and enjoyed the video a lot, great coverage Oink :tup

Congtraz to Bart with his win. How does it feel. Lapping almost the all field accept 3 guys. Great race, Bart

After watching this, i'm in the mood for F1 racing :D

Yes, yes double points

No, I submitted a second time with a comment about the dates in the registration form being incorrect, just like Mohit posted. That second time I must have hit the send button twice.

The broadcasts turned out exceptionally well. I watched them both and all I can say is that you got talent for commentary Paul 👍

PS> I was just thinking... a couple guys were placing "bets" on this thread and no "money" was put on PASM. Major oversight on those guys parts. Given our history of events/results it wasn't really a big surprise that we see his name at the top. Good show. I *will* be surprised if we see his name again at the #1 spot in Germany as he won't be sneaking up on anyone next time. :sly: There are some big "guns" pointed your way now Bart!

Still feels a bit unreal to me. But as Tim says, there will be some "guns" pointed at me in the next races. As long as they are guns like these, I'm ok with it.

It was over 40 for Saturday and over 50 for Sunday I believe.

Q2 for those that are interested :), this was really one of the most tense Qualifying sessions you will see, times are at the end on this one, do have a gander!

Nice to see a few new names signed up for The German GP! Even with my absence we're really hoping to sign up enough drivers for two lounges (at minimum 18 and hopefully 20+) and we are well on our way at this point.

Hopefully all the drivers that participated in the Monaco GP will return for Germany and with the new guys signed up now we'll be over the top already. But it's a long way to July.

I think the timing is pretty well aligned with GT Academy which probably won't kick into full gear (final time trial) until after this event completes, but we'll have to see what PD has in store for us. After Germany we don't have another race until the end of August so it may work out perfect for those that are going to be focused on GT Academy in mid-July.

Don't be shy if you can't keep pace with the aliens on the practice leaderboard. Sign up and we'll be running a 2nd room where the pace will be more "down to earth". Everyone will have a shot to make the A race no matter how many sign up, doesn't matter your division or handicap. Your efforts in knockout qualifying (or pre-qualifying) will determine your lounge assignment / grid spot.

Awesome 👍. Just signed up.

duplicate.

Fixed your double post.

I didn't realize you were Carbonfightr as we don't have a first name for you in our system. Can I update that for you? Joe, I assume?

Also, it's been a long time since you raced with us so you were removed from the friends lists of the lounges... we are constantly rubbing against the 100 limit now (which is a pain, please fix this for GT6). Please re-send the FR to the lounges and I'll get you back on the "active" list.

And once you get on the active list don't hesitate to join us for other WRS racing too. :sly: Get used to your competition and learn their strengths and weaknesses. Many of these guys, unfortunately for the rest of us, have many of the former and few of the latter.

Yup. I tried changing it a few months ago to GTP_Oshawa-Joe, but I'm sure the admins have more things to do than waste time on guys changing their minds.

I fully understand the issues / headaches with dealing with the friend limit. Will send FRs in mid-June. Hopefully that leaves some working space for the recruits until the next F1 race.

The weekly events online look great, but the time slot is bad for me and well, just not enough hours in the week sometimes. :grumpy: I have 3 kids playing competitive soccer and that fills my schedule very quickly.

No problem 👍 I have two kids and coach one of their baseball teams so I completely get it.

Signed up for this TT. It was so enjoyable when I watch the stream that I was sure I'm gonna be here next one. Wow Paul, your voice really is perfect for the job, and at sunday you never really made any long pauses, that's an obvious talent 👍
I've never really driven formula cars in GT5, this seasonal at monaco will give me some practice :)
