I too hope for a good number of drivers, it would be a shame to have a few disappointed drivers again after qualifying... I will be practising this one this weekend. Maybe even do a full length one on saturday evening. Anyone else up for that?

If im around ill join, what time you thinking.

Oh, hey that's convenient... Was planning on getting in some serious practice Saturday since my fairer half will be off at a Bridal Shower. 👍

Just realized I'm in Kingston for a soccer tournament the July 6/7. :banghead:

Is it still possible to do the practice race this Saturday? I'm hoping to be home from work in time. Will send FR to the practice lounge.

Sure you can run the practice.

What a shame I'll be working on Saturday night. Im gunna go in the B lounge within the hour so hopefully I'll see some of you there.

Looking at the list of confirmed drivers DrWatson is the only USA rep... almost as bad as the FIA F1 championship. Fly the stars and stripes high Tim, you'll have me back for reinforcement after this round. There are a couple also on reserve so maybe you won't be alone.

Speaking of reserves, there are 4 of them on the list for both the race and qualification. As we're getting closer to the event date we'd like you to update your status one way or the other. For qualification round 1 we'll need to split into two lounges if there are 15 or more. For the race, unless we get to 18 confirmed we are only running one lounge and there is a strong possibility someone will have to sit out again.

For those that can't make the qualification rounds remember to schedule an observed qualification session prior to the live quali session.

Registration opened quite early for this event (end of May) and we would like to see activity from some of you who registered early and haven't posted in a while to make sure you haven't forgotten about the race: Post to thread, post a practice lap, etc.

Yup. I think we'll be racing in louge B, if it's available.

suppose I should probably at least change the gears from Monaco soon then. ;)

just jumped in the car for the first time to play with setup and wow.... was not expecting the Schumacher ess to be the most dangerous part of the track.

Oinks latest video just kindly reminded me about this haha! Best get some practice in!

It went ok. We did a full simulation of the race with formation lap. We started in the order of the practice session. I got to a 1'27.2 before the race. I ran with my Monaco setup with adjusted gearing. The gearing was very suited to time trial, not as much to racing as I was bouncing off the limiter in draft.

The start was fine. Then I got into trouble in the Schumacher S, touched the kerb and spun. The rest of the stint was very sloppy. Multiple mistakes when trying to catch up. The dirty air still is horrendous. It is particularly nasty in the Schumacher S. I did 13 laps on the softs. Then I took another set of softs, got 17 laps out of them. The best lap was a 1'26.5. Then I fitted the hards. On low fuel the car doesn't feel too different. I think I got a 27.3 ish out of them. The hards will last quite long, but I ran out of fuel after 18 laps. The last stint was on the hards as well, for 12 laps.

Thanks for the guys that turned up. Good driving out there.

yeah, basically the Schumacher S is a death trap... hard tires last forever (basically a whole fuel tank)... and at least for me they were ~2s apart with 1:27 ceiling for the Softs and 1:29 on the hards. Going to be a lot of variety in the pit stops as 2-stop/3-stop are both pretty viable options. Also, you need a much longer 7th gear than you think. I was bouncing the limiter on both straights @ 205mph gear menu top-speed.

Just a tweaked monaco car since I hadn't done any practice yet... so one week to try and figure out how to make it less deadly through Schumacher. If you go flat the rear end wants to escape... dunno, didn't try tinkering with the wing balance yet. Maybe there's magic in there. Else it's a 5% lift or white knuckle "turn the wheel as little as possible and stay off the kerbs!" affair.

I thought the practice was awesome! I learned alot, dropped 2 1/2 seconds off my PB and 2 stops is not out of the question! If you don't mess up the fuel input that is. You can go about 30-32 laps on one tank of fuel and I think I can make the R1's last almost that long without any spins.

My setup (Well Hydro/Marc's setup) seems very stable through Schumacher but I had a hard time through there in the draft! I would love to do another full race practice! I am stoked about next weekend still sad I missed Monaco.

Just heard from oink that he cannot broadcast the race on Sunday although he is still going to broadcast the qualifying on Saturday.

I'm currently attempting to line up an alternate streamer (have one PM out). If that falls through we won't stream the event which is too bad, but the upshot is we'll have 16 grid spots available instead of 15 in the lounge so one more driver will be able to participate if we only run 1 lounge.
