Kaz says the standards are going to be in GT7. Is this a deal breaker for you?

12 people? Really? Every asset in Mario Kart have the same quality, it's homogeneous; that's not the case with Gran Turismo.

That got me thinking, is there a game where assets are carried over and are of much lower quality than the newer assets like this whole premium/standard thing in GT? I'm racking my brain and I can't recall a game that does something like this? (I'm not saying this to be mean to PD I'm just seriously curious about it). It's a strange place PD has put themselves with these low quality assets being carried over through 3 generations now.

12 people from GTP wont make much difference. Majority of sales go to casuals who just want to drive cars.

Mariokart outsells every other racing game, it's cars are nowhere near the quality of current standards in GT.

yeah, but you do actually get more racing in Mariokart than in GT5 & GT6

Forza 4 had some models carried over from 2 and 3.. even the Porsche DLC pack had F2 and F3 carry overs in it...

That's the only example I can think of outside of GT.

Only game I recall is Mortal Kombat Trilogy on the PSOne, it had SNES and GENESIS assets, but their quality were homogeneous in the game.

That's it. Mario Kart is a game. It is fun. Gran Turismo apparently gave up on being a game.

Unbelievable and absolutely unacceptable. Kaz is simply clueless. This will be a major stain on the future of Gran Turismo, if it isn't already.

Wow, this is an all-time low, guys. Bitching about extra cars, SERIOUSLY? If you don't want to see them, then don't use them on GT7, simple as that. All throwing a pathetic tantrum does is annoying the few of us who don't mind the standards. I swear, if I lose my Furai I'm going to be pretty pissed off.

Oh, yeah, we annoy you and you annoy us. So, what do we do about that?

I'm amazed at how people were so happy for PD with the Senna and Red Bull Ring stuff and now they can't stop throwing up on what they just read. That's good, everything is back to normal.
And I will confidently predict all the praise and love will return as soon as the Nissan, Aston release next month and the course maker gets put in. People tend to be a little knee-jerk about this game.

Then Kaz should be mad on his car model artists ... he would have ordered them to update the standards to be close to GT6 Ruf level of detail at very least and do some touch up + prep for GT7 graphic engine. That's the logical step if standards to be included.

Personally, I am very curious what sort of standard Kaz is aiming on next gen, surely he's not dumb enough to leave it like PS2 models and at least aim at Ruf GT6 level.

This, I see them updating the standards to that semi cleaner look with fully detailed lights and not texture maps as there is no way we can honestly see them fitting into any race in their sub HD textures. It's not like we know they can't do it, seems like this is probably their basis for including them. I just hope that they actually model the interior camera view to represent the view from in the car and not driving a black bathtub on the road. Just like how that premium GT-R looks with no interior but I can use the mirrors and see the hood from inside. People are too quick to jump to conclusions, when in fact PD have been make premiums of cars that have numerous duplicates, the Miata for example I'm pretty sure that they updated one of them to full premium, now they have to go back and run down a check list of details that they can use to make the duplicate cars that look the same but have different specs beyond the exterior and interior details.

There has to be a level where Kaz is going to say, ok there is no way that jagged box cutter is making it into GT7 looking like an enemy from Asteroids. Why did they even go through the effort of doing those semi-premium updates if they weren't going to be used for something like a place holder. Fingers crossed but either way, I'm more stoked about what the heck they intend to do about the track atmosphere, noise, stands and tuning depth. I know the game will have loads of cars including my favorites, but are we going to get our classic courses back and what about new courses? GT7 should launch with possibly 500+ cars, 40 courses and for the rest of us who take the game as a whole well over 1300 autos. That's beyond insane, but Kaz did say he wanted GT to be like a museum, and man this is going to cost a lot of money to keep those licenses to all those cars. I surely hope all the courses are full day/night support and all cars support low and high beams, physics are intact and all effects are a go, I am there.

Next stop is PD's community update that give us some ability to create car clubs, I'm waiting for that. If you can't drive on sport tires keep it moving, I wish PD would not cater to arcade so much and fix that insane grip on tires they are all wonky across the board.

A lot of people complaining here, myself included, don't fit into this profile you mentioned. Please, do not generalize.

From what I've seen in this thread, I see no constructive criticism. All I see is people running around all over the place with their heads held up high screaming and crying at PD telling them that they're stupid and they won't buy the next game.
Aren't you the same? If they said they were ditching the standards on GT7, those who are praising them now would be "whining" and "crying" about it.

I sincerely wish I was joking, but honestly I started playing virtual racing games 18 years ago, and I have never encountered any with less competitive racing than GT5 (and from what I hear GT6).

Example: AI slow down to let you win.

GT5/GT6 online can be very competitive. You will never get AI to equal or better human intelligence.

Well, maybe some humans. But not all.

Why do people complain about standards so much? These cars were made for GT4 in HD, so they should fit in GT7 in HD. If you don't want em, don't drive em. Plus no standards means no Escudo, Chapparal, Formula GT, Midget II, Catherham, modern pickups, minivans, Lancer 1600, AE86, etc.

Besides Kojima can get away with PS1 models on PS4, why not PD? Regular people at a glance don't know the diff, and if they find out, they can accept, use the premium cars, or play something else. Either way criticism is fine ,but don't take away my memories.

No. If there are no standards in GT7, then that's great. If yes then whatever, I'll still buy the game and drive the cars anyways. It's not the worst thing ever.

By the looks of it, PD won't please anyone and they'll pay for keeping Standards on GT5, if they didn't we wouldn't be discussing this right now. Anyway, regardless of what some will say, PD is going to lose a large chunk of their fans because of this and it's not us, customers, who'll lose the most, it's them. I wish them good luck.

lol good one! I did play stuff on the atari, and commodore 64 - but really just way too basic for me to count as virtual racing. I'm 47 :).

Anyway, I'm also unsociable & only like playing online with RL friends. Getting a decent online race is just too much hard work. I just want to be able to pop in the game & get a reasonably competitive race against computer opponents when I have a spare 20 minutes or 1/2 hour.

Online is definitely what you make it, but it's not like PD make it effortless to get a good race (believe me I have tried many times). Sadly all the people who I used to have GT(1,2,3 & 4) split screen parties & competitions with, also all hated GT5. None have bought GT6

I seriously doubt there is anyone out there who actually finds the GT5 & GT6 single player game competitive or even remotely like actual racing.
