Kaz says the standards are going to be in GT7. Is this a deal breaker for you?

PD will be damned if they do, damned if they don't. If they do realistic damage, it will likely only be applicable to race cars and I guess there will be lot of complaints due to rammers wrecking cars and terminally ending peoples' races through no fault of there own. Also people will criticise them for wasting resources on a feature a fraction of the userbase I think will utilise if it turns out to be well done and they might prefer fake damage like currently where you can still run without completely ruining race. Also realistic damage might only work on premium race cars so if they do include standard cars then there will be even more things for people to complain about.

Works in every other sim, won't work in GT, right?

Only iRacing I think it works well and userbase is more suiting for it. Can't really remember other games damage models apart from that has reasonably realistic consequences.

Dude, options. That's what GT needs, OPTIONS, [ON] or [OFF]...
They already get insulted for taking on too much, damage is one thing they decided not to spend time on for GT6 but still they are struggling to get other features out so I think it is better if they tackle the core stuff like AI, physics and sound for future GT game rather than go into realistic body deformation of cars and its effects.

No, I don't play racing games online because my internet isn't good enough for it. If damage works online it should work in career. At least make a switch in the difficulty settings like it is in every other game. As it stands GT career is very easy to play since there's no potential threat of losing a race if you lose focus or misjudge your braking point, the rubberbanding allows you to catch up with the AI pretty easily as well. The most thrill in GT6 single player comes from license tests and special events, because you're racing against the clock and disqualified for going off track or bumping into others.
Well, if you cant play gt6 online its too bad since they seem to be focussing more and more on online.
Did you see Kubica's crash in Montreal? Anyway obviously your console is not going to grab a knife and kill you but the car at least should be a complete wreck. And yes it would be cool if your whole career would end due to that crash and you would have to start all over again.
Too much obsession for maximum realism. Its a game after all.
Well in the game you won't die, you'll just be out of the race like in real life. However in real life, you'll end up with serious injuries or even die. GT should be simulating the cars getting totalled to the point you can't move them, and you'll be forced to restart it. This will teach drivers how to drive carefully on the track for both in the game, and in real life. Ahh I forgot, GT is a "driving simulator", nevermind we got Project CARS and iRacing(?), for that. :sly:
and you seem obsessed with the "driving simulator" thing. This is nothing but a slogan that dates back to GT1 when they werent so much advanced sims. It doesnt mean GT has to be the most hardcore sim out there.

Nope, that's not what I mean. When I mean by "driving simulator" (said it again) I expect there to be "driving on public roads, obeying road rules and signs, and ESPECIALLY street lights".

*GT online features are pathetic.

*I know it's a game.. or is it just an add for Nissan?

*GT is not even softcore nowadays

Nobody expects to see cars reduced to small, metal boxes after a crash or see a car burst into flames. We know that isn't likely to happen on a game with so many cars and manufacturers. What is realistic to expect IMO is for every car to at least show some sign of visual damage beyond scratches. No reason bumpers and wings can't come off on any car, or other small parts fall off. Then you can lightly crumple panels, crack the windscreens, etc etc. Minor damage but it adds to the realism.

Also realistic damage might only work on premium race cars so if they do include standard cars then there will be even more things for people to complain about.

Valid criticism you mean? I think people mix the two up. If PD did exactly as you say, include standard cars that can't be damaged and premium cars that can, people would be perfectly right to criticise that CHOICE PD made. Do you not agree?

Driving does not limit to public road driving, in GT's case is track driving.

Online racing with millions of car/track combinations and many different rules is pathetic? Maybe its your whining thas pathetic?

Nobody asks for ultra realistic damage, but it should be at least in line with other sims. If you crash your car should be damaged for the rest of the race or at least until you drive in the pits for repairs.

Oh god, don't go there with Nixxon and online racing. It's the best online racing system ever with no need for any further features that he doesn't need and nothing you can say will convince him otherwise, even though he admits he hasn't played any other online racing games.

I think I'll stop arguing with him. It's like talking to a brick wall... that was a hit by a supercar in GT6 at 350 km/h and does not even know it got hit.

Any way I'm off to bed. See you guys!

Yep. :) And if that's the case, than pretty much end of discussion.

He's suggesting that you've been 'swayed' in your feelings by other people being negative. In other words suggesting you can't think for yourself.
Thanks @Samus. :)👍 And really? Well I pretty much know what I'm doing and thinking on GTPlanet. I mean it's bad enough I've told by two people so far that I have bipolar and other garbage I'm told for being this way nowadays...
It's my theory on why pro GT Toko became anti GT Toko. In the same timeframe, GT6 actually improved quite a bit.

And no Samus, I'm not suggesting he can't think for himself.
The reason why I'm like this is because Kaz messed up what GT used to be decades ago. And that is "being fun". I don't want to sound or be negative, but Kaz is making me be excatly that.

Dont post those useless messages. Post those marvelous online features that GT6 lacks.
The way you automatically defend anything Kaz touches is pathetic. Grow up.
Because defending kaz is pathetic and bashing him is cool and the way to go for a grown up. I'm older than you think btw.

Damage works fine in Forza. Works fine in Grid. Worked fine in Shift, despite all the other issues those games had. Works fine in the F1 201x games. Works fine in Assetto Corsa.

Are there actually games that have damage and it's detrimental to the gameplay?

A quick read through your profile posts gives the impression that you are still having fun with GT6. I hope you are, anyway.

I've done it before, you dismissed it all because you personally didn't care for them. That's why I told other people not to bother.

The thing is, the people 'bashing' him have personal motivation, they don't like what he's done to the game. What is your personal motivation behind defending everything?
