There is zero evidence to date to suggest more than 16 cars on track on the PS4. You have to realize there will also be much more going on in the game (hopefully)in the environment, trackside details, flags, physics, crowd animations, better AI, crash damage etc. etc. etc. and every car model with even higher resolution that we have at the moment. DriveClub has a phenomenal list of features, but they can only do it at 30fps, which should tell you the system has very real limitations.

The system has very real limitations, but those will change over time as developers become more familiar with the hardware. I would be shocked if we didn't see a Driveclub-quality title running at 60 FPS towards the end of the PS4's life cycle.

It is good to push boundaries of what might be achieveable for man and machine. Why would driver pass out in the first turn?
Because the X1 prototype is able to turn at such speed that it generates the acceleration forces of 7G and above. Which basically overpowers human heart's ability to pump blood, so in a turn like that the blood vessels aren't able to deliver blood to the brain causing it to shut down. The closest to X1 prototype are F1 cars and they're practically already pushing the boundaries of what a human body can undertake without dying. But even these forces, even though not fatal cause F1 drivers a multitude of professional health problems like layers of eyeballs separating over time because of these massive acceleration forces.

according to the poll for 80% of people its not a deal breaker anyway.

I've seen this argument too many times now :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Let me explain the poll.

It shows the majority WILL BUY GT7 REGARDLESS OF THE INCLUSION OF STANDARDS.

not "WE ARE HAPPY WITH SATANDARDS AND WANT THEM IN THE GAME"!!!!!!

The other standards thread polls show most of the users want them gone!!!!!!

:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Excuse me while I go guzzle chill pills now guys......

actually more like 400 or so.
400 is double fm5's entire car stable (excluding dlc's)

Then we have got the 200 cars gran turismo add to every new title, that puts us at 600 ish.

I remember gt2 had 600 cars, and we were spoiled for choice. This is why I feel we don't need standards.

The eggs are getting more and more rotten. Bin them now!!

:)

Or, better, udpate them.

@GranTurismo guy
That's exactly what he (TonyLomas) said.

I was very surprised when I heard this.
I can understand the argument: "We probably won't be able to recreate all the cars people love the most, so we'll keep them to avoid the hate."
But I think it's also important to move on. Sure, cars like the R390 (probably my favourite) or many of the LMP cars are great, but there are many more great modern cars that they could bring into Gran Turismo. The Automobile and Motorsport world is moving on, why shouldn't GT?

This kind of reminds me of when F1 fans are complaining about new tracks, saying "the new tracks are crap, bring back all the good tracks from 50 years ago!" (before the race was even held on the new track, by the way). But wouldn't it be boring if every year the races would be held on the same tracks?

But who knows. It's just an interview, and we all know how much we can trust Kaz's words based on random interviews. I'll wait until an official announcement.

You're giving PD a bit too much credit, GT5 added 200 hundred cars and took 6 years to develop, GT6 took 3 years and added another 200. So 400 cars in 9 years. If they plan to release GT7 in 2015 then the premium car list isn't getting a big bump, otherwise we'll have to wait at least until 2016 to receive a similar increase. Though we don't know exactly what their car production schedule is.
For Forza it's 10 cars a month, the cars are built for 6 months but they start early and have a strict schedule, as well as that in one of the interview Dan said that it happens this fast because they've streamlined and accelerated the QA and approval process. If T10 claims are true then in a 2 year dev cycle FM normally follows they're able to produce roughly 240 cars.

There's a great little interview that I recommend to watch. Dan is being quite aggressive in this interview, but hits all the main points and allows us to draw comparisons in regards to philosophies behind the two teams and the two franchises:

Note: this is not a fanboy flamebait post, just for general information and education.

To the people who are not fans of standard being included and debating it with the people who are for it, Just remember its pretty much the same people who defend PD for absolutely everything and come up with all sorts of excuses or reasons, Then they act like they dont understaand your point with comments like this "If you want good graphics buy a pc" is it really worth wasting your time with debating with these people who's sole purpose is to defend PD, It was even suggested PD do not add standards to pad the car connt but for our enjoyment lol, If that were true then why the need to add multiple versions of the exact same car.

Standard cars on the PS4 is laughable and is an indicator of where PD's heads are at (cloud cookoo)

He says basically "screw quantity, the only thing that matters is graphics quality, and if you want more quantity, you pay DLC" I dont like this phylosophy, I prefer PD's, where they try to do quality while not forgetting quantity and also not get stupid @ DLC's and money.
But I suppose he tries to do what the fans want, and sometimes thats a problem. Fans dont have to make all the decisions. CEO's have to. Fans sometimes are just spoiled brats because they want quality and quantity at the same time and that's where the CEO's have to take decisions for the best of the franchise.

I dare say that modern society would care more for quality than quantity.

While I am one who believes everything should be premium. I could live with standards providing they all look like the RUF vehicles that were redone I think they could systematically rework vehicles and interiors while dropping the duplicates . At least they won't stick out as much. Plus many people still use them a lot .

That's kind of the point of having new hardware - it gives developers more headroom in regards to what they can do. Rebuilding their assets allowed T10 to have Forzavista on all cars and it's a great feature to explore the cars and see what the engine looks like and have a close look at the interior. Of course you can see it all on real photos and live footage, but that doesn't immerse me because I'm not in control of the camera movement and honestly I'm just lazy to look up the photos. Now with GT, while many people like to shout that PD really really loves cars and models them with great care and attention, but at the same time they don't allow you to freely explore the cars, you can either see it in the dealership where it's very small to point out any details, or gallery mode where camera pans around, but still doesn't focus on details or go into photo travel mode which honestly has a clunky interface and takes some time to get into, all the while still not allowing us to view interiors without using some glitches. And that's not even taking standards into account, with them being completely restricted to view closely. So in the end the passion and love for cars that T10 displays is more apparent than PD's. But thats just my personal opinion.

You're giving PD more credit as well:lol: There were less than 100 unique new cars for GT6. Base cars with white paint and anniversary cars with blue paint shouldn't be included in the new car count, same car, different skin. Including the GT5 DLC it was actually about 130 new cars in 3 years or 43/year.
Not sure how many duplicates there were in the original premiums but it's not insignificant either. Most Nascar cars are duplicates, most GT500's are duplicates. That's got to take it down to about 200, so 200+130=330/9 years or 37/year. Given the DLC so far in GT6, there's nothing whatsoever to indicate the pace will pick up for GT7. The VGT cars alone represent nearly a years worth of modeling in that case, which would explain why we have so few real car DLC so far. Numbers don't lie.

Just compare for example how far more immersive GTA 5 is than GTA: SA. Of course SA was very impressive for it's time, and so was GT4. But GTA 5 pushes the boundaries to incredible levels in regards to attention to detail, lighting, overall polish and quality, even though technically they are both set in the same location, you don't see Rockstar carrying over any assets from SA at all. If they did the game wouldn't receive the same recognition it got from both reviewers and gamers.

Welp, there you have it. :)

You're missing the point entirely. People expect(ed) next-gen content on next-gen hardware and that's the compromise they had to make; build everything from scratch with the next generation in mind (although I'm unsure about the validity of that statement). PD copped out, they didn't. Quality over quantity can't be stressed enough over and over again.

To be fair 400 in 9 years basically means 43/year.

In fairness the graphics of GTA V are a long way off of the graphics of GT6's premium assets, as you'd expect from a more arcade-style game.

Well done sir, well done. I'm guessing the comeback will be, "well you don't have to buy it", which of course negates his whole position to begin with, but that irony will be lost.

To be fair 400 in 9 years basically means 43/year.
It's only 400 if you count cars with different paint schemes as a different car, or base models with white paint as a different car. I'm sure you'd agree that the same car with different paint doesn't qualify as a "new car" or a new car model.

I understand why some people want to keep the standards, I truly do. They don't want to let go of cars they held dear since GT4 and I feel the same way, I'll miss my 2000 Mustang Cobra R & Nissan R390 if PD dropped the standards alltogether including the improved ones.

In the end though, it's really for the best. If Polyphony dropped them, then the modelling team could put their focus entirely on modeling more premium cars, which would mean a great fully-detailed car count by GT7's release. I'm pretty sure that Polyphony wouldn't forget about the cars they dropped either, I bet they would try to make some new models of the more popular PS2 cars even.

My bad, didn't read your post properly.

Forza did also receive its own form of back lash. Whether it was the right choice or not it's a lose-lose situation no matter which path is taken really.

That's because GTA's focus isn't entirely on cars, they've got people, animals, tons of animations in the environment while GT is mostly static, of course GTA is open world, different types of transport, and what not, it's a lot to mention. Overall the polish and quality of GTA and Rockstar Games in general are matched by only a few in this industry.

Yeah, there is no safe middle ground:lol: People will hate on PCars because it has less than 100 cars. Driveclub because it's so arcade and has very few cars relatively. As a consumer though, I'd rather have the content available and quibble over price, than not have it available at all or get little bits and pieces for free but nothing I really want.

Well first of all modern society isnt a person, modern society are lots of people with different opinions and tastes.
And... You think people in power are mother teresa or something... I'm not mafia-esque or corrupted enough to get into power, dont worry :D

Yes, they did. But I'd argue that it's a short view of the situation as far as car count goes. However, in the long-term, T10 is better off.

Hopefully they don't decide to rebuild cars again for Forza 8 on Xbox 4. :)

The best for every franchise is to go for quality, because at some point PD has to remove those standard cars. Can you imagine PS5 or PS6 with ray tracking stuff going on still including those standard cars
