This may sound crazy but what about a 'formation lap' to avoid the dreaded first turn incidents. It could be treated like a safety car situation and no overtaking until the leader crosses the line for lap 2. Would also give tyres a chance to get up to temperature (especially as no-one seems to know how tyres are effected with codemasters simulation settings on/off).

I really feel for anyone who ends up in a cluster F, I totally understand the frustration w/ not having a good result and when someone feels like they were dealt with unfairly it suckz. I know I can’t say anything that can solve some ones issues, that is why I always video the race so I can go back in time and try to resolve the issue as I see it and if I can make a case that someone showed me a lack of respect and can prove it, I take it directly to that driver to try to resolve the issue. You can really find out who you are racing with when they are confronted with real evidence and not fractured memories.
This is a long series and this won’t be the first calamity that results in ruffled feathers but to poo poo the whole thing is a little extreme for a first turn cluster F. When I qualified as good as I did I just knew that I was going to get keysterd so I dove wide and managed to merge back on to the track in 5th with Capt. Rau to my inside in 4th. In the lead was YAMAHAKID in 1st, Timo in 2nd, grafpt in 3rd . As things quickly leveled out heading into 2 Capt Rau roostyd to the out side of grafpt for a drag race through turn 3 and down the straight, we all flew into 4 with YAM gone and Timo solidly in 2nd, grafpt was on the inside at 5 w/ Capt Rau working the outside heading directly twords Timo sliding over to the right preparing to enter 6, while Capt Rau was on the outside of grafpt which turns into the inside of 6 he rotated counter clockwise across grafpt's nose collecting both he and grafpt to the dead zone on the outside of 6 completely off the track and promoting me comfortably into 3rd.
So talk about over driving into a situation and making it worse, you be the judge. If anyone thinks I got it wrong I can post it for your viewing enjoyment.
I really don’t think there is a need for some kind of unpredictable rolling start when the cars are all neatly organized in a grid formation and everyone just has to realize that until things get stretched out it will be crowded and take a certain amount of respect for the people around you and just know that you can’t win the race in the first turn.

The formation lap thing may work, but there would need to be some ruels on distance between cars, and a speed to travel at. But IMO an important thing in racing is to stay out of trouble from start to finish. This would remove an important part of racing. I think we need to just tell all drivers to take it easy into turn 1, and give up any positions gained unfairly, and wait for drivers you knocked off, and hand out penalties if necessary.

I'm just pretty bummed he took his lack of skill out on me. I have nothing to do with his driving, nor any other driver. This happening first race of the season would happen in any season hosted by anyone, it's stupid. If it happens in real life it will happen in a video game. It's a shame we are not all computers and can driver perfect like him, oh wait....

I think I got it all, but I'll have to do a frame by frame of the Quali stuff. I don't quite know what it is that you are looking for so whare do I look for what it is that you need?

You can get people's starting position at the end of the race as it says after if you don't get the times you can take a picture of the screen and get the grid that way.
However it only works if no-one quits.. then the computer gets confused as where everyone started.
So.. L. Hamilton... DONT QUIT THE RACE!!!!! it goes for everyone... wait it out so positions can be finialised...

I am Updated OP again. Big updates....
1. Peter will be added to official driver list due to Captain_Roh quitting. Congrats peter.
2. ALL reserve drivers will will now be "fill in-team mates", i.e. CrashBroke can't race China, reserve will fill in his car BUT they represent themselves with points. Races will only be 12 drivers, but the standings may be more because reserve drivers will earn their own points when they fill in.

Just about the whole first corner -issue... (luckily i just started from pole lol)
I think with 12 players trying to get the max out of first corner and a standing start, which changes the braking point for each position, its very hard to get a clean first corner. Even me on pole position got bumped, but I could make it less worse, as i just drove a wide way around the trouble off track. Lost first position then, but I didnt care really. That happens in real life and this will always happen with 12 people in Multiplayer. Its sure a few need to get more control on their car, but I think everyone knew this, when entering a championship of a brand new game (and some pad users (no offence, but they mostly cant drive that accurate))
BTW, just to point this out again. grafpt your doing a great job!

Thank you so much man. And your one of the people that keep up wanting to do this. I wasn't going to let one guys opinion get me down.

Ok, I only came back here to watch the video but after reading all these posts I'm afraid I've taken the bait. So I will address them..
First of all, apart from expressing how I felt about grafpt taking more time setting up a stream than organising participants, where exactly did i point fingers and name names? Concerning what happened on track I mean. Find a post and let me know.
This. In the first video you posted of the trial race you wrote, and i quote 'Here's video of the start of the race lol This cant be happening imo'. Yet just up there you've done a complete 180 and basically said sh** happens get over it!
Its been the story of the whole of this thread. Lets not forget it took a moderator to come in here and bring some order. Nothing I've said has been unjust, you change your mind as often as I change my socks and its no wonder most people didnt know what was going on.
I have to say, knowing everyone else will see the video for themselves i think either you're blind or in denial on this one. How many people were you trying to take out on that opening lap!?
First off, you spun YAMAHAKID around in the first corner, you clearly did, even though on the video there looked to be a good half car of clear air between you. (LAG maybe?) Then coming up the hill into turn 4 we had our three way drag race. I knew people would be on the outside of 4 so I went tight, I didnt want to turn into the apex of 5 incase I hit someone either so went wide, yet you still come through hell for leather and take me off too. Again, looks like clear air on the video but you obviously hit me. I can tell you I definately felt the impact on my end as well! Then, still on the first lap, you drove straight into the HRT without even a rear view check to see if you'd taken him off!
I must at this point note too that I saw you take out cashbroke in this video, and you did slow to let him take back the position. However 1 right doesnt right 3 wrongs does it, too little too late imo.
If you carry on watching the video from our coming together at 5, you'll see i've been turned around by someone in turn 9 too. Not forgetting the pile up at turn one thats 3 times I'd been crashed off in that first lap.
I dont care what spin you put on it, as a race league hosted on GTP its unacceptable. Check the OLR.
I'm going to ignore the blatent disrespect of the AUP, but you're basing this on what? The part where you pit maneuvered me off track?
I watched the video man, and let me tell you, it takes no skill in driving round with TC, cutting corners and generally going off course in every other turn. You know nothing of my online credentials. I race A LOT! With registered and verified GTP tagged members. You can go into any of the race events and someone will testify as to how clean and fair a racer I am. Its EXPECTED!
In one of your posts above you said EVEYONE hit SOMEONE. Well I have to disagree! I didnt hit a soul! Not once. And it isnt hard. I'm USED to racing fair and clean. Last night was just carnage! Also, hands up who didnt see me get clean off the racing line when you all were lapping me? Yes I was annoyed, and so couldnt be bothered to race, but I still have respect for track etiquette and the racers out there. I moved over for every single one of you. AND, I went the race distance out of respect for everyone else as well. Everyone knows this, so the next unfounded quote is also just total blatent troll baiting.
I'm sorry to wash my laundry in public like this, but as far as I can tell everyone is just prepared to go along with the constant changes and poor driving when I'm not. Its not what I've come to expect in these forums and to be honest I should of bowed out when I first had my doubts.
I'm sure you completely ignored it the first time, but like I said before, the effort of creating a championship for us all to have fun was appreciated. I hope you get all these issues ironed out because its a great game and you guys should be able to have a lot of fun.

If I was videoing myself and that was the result, I'd lose the file. I certainly wouldn't post it up online.
In the first lap alone you took three other drivers out, drove straight up the back of another and left the track unaided thrice.
Your series, your rules. But if you're going to punish people for bad driving and expect other people to stick with your series, driving around like Takuma Sato in charge of a MIRV isn't going to help.

I would like to say that until all of the drivers in this series try to drive lines that give room when it is not comfortable to do such and until it is known for certain that there isn’t another driver on their side, there will be multiple driver collisions. When I know that I am under attack and my options on what to do in these situations are few, I always pick ones that mean I may lose a spot, but I don’ t just hand it over. I have to stop sweeping the track in a manner that is most conducive to turning the fastest lap and drive a more conservative manor.
That is a sign of respect not weakness, it also means that I am not going to create something that could drop me back more spots then the one that I don’t want to lose at that moment. If I know that I am going flat out and going faster to defend a line could push me over the edge and spin me out then I’ll let them go by and drop in on their tail and return the favor. Sometimes applying the pressure is a better tactic then defending against someone who most assuredly will end up in my blind spot and in my confusion will take us both out. Food for thought.
