Only one spot left! (Not incl. Wildcards) :)
This will be great if we can consistently get full fields racing each week. 👍
BTW, I like the photo at the start of the thread. That was a good idea I had not thought of that whilst we were having our practice races. 👍 Good thought! :sly:

Quite a few names now, good to see.

I like the idea of 'have to start on racing hards' rule. The mix of 2 tire compounds has been bought into more and more racing series ( real world ) and always gives a good result.

If I recall right, when you're sitting in pit-lane, before race start you can hover your arrow over other guy's name ( upper right ) and it tells you there what tires they're on. I think that's what you can do there - could be wrong. That could be a way to check everyone is compliant before starting the race.

Also Oni, in the OP there had been mention of how the points are paid for each team. but I can't see it since the re-write. The old text had said that points would be paid as per the lower driver's finish position.

I was going to question how that would work if a team can't get both drivers to a race. Can't get into the lobby, DQ during the race. These things happen.

Or do we make it a combination of both drivers points, I've never been in a team based comp. Not sure how it can be best structured.

I've been thinking it could work with just 2 teams: Aussie Vs NZ

Yeah i thought you'd like it. Even though i was saving the replays to work on my lines and setup as my main reason, i just found a few good shots so figured why not. haha.

BTW that time you did was without draft! but i beat it by 0.400 with still room to improve after i did my oil change. ;)

Yeah thats right! While in the pit lane i can just hover over their names to set what tyres everyone is on so thats easy to check. Main thing is the change to softs after lap 5. Everyone needs to remember that once your lap 6 starts the pit is open to softs. As ill be watching all replays to ensure everyone follows this rule.

The way the point system will work for teams is just adding together the 2 drivers total points. I figure this is the best way to run it then having a different point system for teams. However its open to ideas.

An Aussie VS NZ would be great however there isnt enough NZers in this series. So points would be a bit lop sided.

is that me on the profile pic using the inner curb to pull me around??

haha yeah thats you. Pulling a sneaky around think247

Oni, does that mean we have to qualify on hard tyres?

Spot on! Every race we do the qualifying session will be on racing hards. This should make it more interesting. Also keeps everyone on their toes as nobody will really knows how fast X driver is on softs as qualifying was on Hards so nobody knows anyones soft times. ;)

However the Qualifier event (this sunday 3rd April) will be on racing softs to sort out teams.

True, I did put that out as a joke, but we could do a special one off event. I'm actually a New Zealander, if it helps the numbers.

I would enter this if it wasn't on a monday night, ah well. Have fun out there it looks like a good championship. 👍

Oni mate it wont be lop-sideded because me and toiv rip the **** up all the time , lucky if u aussies get 10 points in a race!

Yeah it could work. I'll look at it later on. CATMAN is also a New Zealander ;)

Shame you cant join Stav. I host a season championship on wednesday nights as well. It's almost finished and will be replaced with a new one. Keep an eye out.

Im actually trying to look for a friday evening racing series but most Aussies would be down at the pub.

I'm a bit of an OLR noob (and a not scared of gettin on the grass) , so could you please clarify corner cutting ? Is 2 wheels on the track being legal (ripple strips are part of the track) ?

Thanks :)

My idea would be 2 wheels on the ripple strip with two wheels on the road, but in some corners i understand its possibile to do what your sayin spinner, i dont see why not, except for chic canes.

2 wheels on the black stuff at all times. Cant have 2 wheels on the ripple strip and the others on the grass/off track. It just doesn't happen in real racing.

The track run offs (concrete at the end of corners) are fine though. You can use all of the run offs.

Just so that people outside Aust know, daylight savings ends here tonight. So the start time tomorrow will be an hour later than whatever time equation you were using. If that makes sense . . . best to check what people are doing, as the time gets close.

Also a quick question Oni, does the qualifier mean a race for 1/2 hour with you keeping a watch on lap-times? Or are we just all out on the track turning hot laps for 1/2 hour?

1/2 of turning laps with me watching. After that we can just do a few mock races for fun or people can go off and do their own thing.

Sign me up please!!!!
I would be more than happy to join

Glad you could join mate. Be sure to send me a friends request. If i am full just message me and ill make room.

Now that the drivers list is full any new signups will be wildcards. However if anyone is still keen to join in on the series just let me know and if anyone drops out you can fill their spot (that goes for all wildcard drivers).

Once qualifying is over tomorrow night ill be sorting out the teams. Ill update the post with the teams and tracks for all to see. ;)

I've been in a few of the practice sessions. It going to be interesting . . .

These cars are quite a handful at first, we've all found that the default setup gives you a lot of understeer, car is fast, yes. But it just feels like it's been given to you with a bad setup.

But the good news is that you can work on it and bring it back to a better driving machine. Quite satisfying really, it's like being given one of those novetly puzzle things where you've got to work out how to solve it.

I figure that the car's setups will be one of the main elements in this series.

Geez, I have no idea about setups! No matter what I do it doesn't change a thing haha
So fair to say I'm gonna race with no tuning at all

Thats alright mate. Not many of us know how to tune as well but this sure is a great car to learn how to tune with. Just the slightest change can cause a dramatic effect. It's been a great learning experience for all of us.

If you need tips to get it steering how you like it then im sure any of us can lend a hand.

Remember all the Qualifier is on tonight. 8:30pm (Sydney time) so check your timezones. Remember daylight savings is over as well.

So who's lounge do I join at 8:30?

Sorry, I didn't mean to turn anyone away by saying the car isn't good without the setup right.

If anyone is in the dark re: setups - there are plenty of guys in this series who will help. It's good that way.

I need everyone's opinion on the following.

I am looking to change the race time to 9:30pm to allow for other drivers to feel less rushed trying to get into the race as they finish work late and would be in a rush to get in at 9pm.

Let me know if this is ok by all and ill change the time. Cheers.
