I'm happy to hear that the default pad/controller settings seems to be good at last. While I personally never really cared for pit-stops and tire management and them being gone don't bother me the slightest, I do however understand those who are let down by the design decisions.

With that said, I think the game's looking alright - I guess - but I'm definitely going to wait for reviews, community impressions and for DF's frame rate analysis before buying it.

I wonder if SMS will continue to work on Project Cars as series or they will change their main sim name after getting to Codemasters. It feels like they tries to bomb PCars franchise with this one.

Like Dirt and Dirt Rally. Codemasters have Grid so maybe SMS could resurrect the Race Driver name?

Project Race Driver
Race Driver Pro
Pro Race Driver

Looks like the marketing director is engaging with potential customers on the official forum
Not super surprising. I believe back in the days around PC2's release, others pointed out Ian being just as "direct" with other people on the official forum.

It could also go as

GRID - > arcade franchise

GRID: Autosport -> this more sim version of it.
And we can get GRID: Autosport 2.0 it feels a little bit like Rally 2.0

Or we will see something completely different. Yet we know officially that the GRID franchise isn't over yet. I would love to see more love to GRID frome codemasters. GRID 2019 was great game but lacking in content and good career mode, but the base was solid. It had potential.

Yeah, I'd rather they didn't use the Grid name personally but definitely that clear split like they've done with Dirt.

Yeah we will see what will happen. Next gen will be definitely interesting in term of racing games. To be honest i don't like Project Cars (i know it isn't most important thing) as name for racing game. It feels like work in progress. I would be perfectly fine if there will be something with different franchise but still with PCars 2 philosophy.

Me watching the count down clock on my ps4 till the game unlocks

This thing is gonna drive me crazy i tell you.

Alright, the car classes have turned me off and I don't care about the career mode at all. But if we can custom races and set the cars in the same class I'm in.

Same here. I wonder when we will hear more details about this "Custom Race" mode SMS was talking about. They hiding it like it has something special in it (which i doubt... i guess it will be let down like everything else right now)

To me there is a lot to like in this video, AI is competitive, sound is more consistent between camera views and I hear lots of sound effects:

Great footage! I particularly like the attention to detail given to the trackside sounds as you get closer to the grandstands, creating a more upbeat and vibrant atmosphere.

If we are getting them for free there is big chance we will get missing content from PCars 2...

They said they couldn't afford Le Mans, COTA, Red bull ring, Watkins glen short etc, so I expect any of these new free tracks - if they come- will be fictional like most of the new additions

It does look like it will be a fantastic game. 👍 My personal disappointments are a matter of a missed opportunity more than anything.

As for the classes, I hope there will be an option to narrow it down to actual motorsport classes, but I would be lying if I said the mix was at all a turnoff, much less a dealbreaker. I am one of the players who intends to drive an upgraded Escort or 2002 against modern GT cars or exotics. I enjoy piloting underdogs and misfits in a sim like this. Enthusia was ripe for such scenarios with its upgrade levels and freedom to individually assign AI cars to the grid, and it's something I always loved about Forza. :)

There is a limit to what I'd prefer for the game to throw into the mix for AI cars, but Escorts, 2002s, Caterhams, and GT86s are well within that limit.

This begs the question: "Can the game grow or improve over time?" Look what FH4 is now compared to when it launched, and even GT Sport and FM7 have undergone some change (not fundamental changes, but general improvements and addition of content.)

@4:36 Its grid 2019 all over again :banghead: don't tell me this damn ai is gonna do this here to :indiff:
Ah, but the driver recovered beautifully, without reset or rewind shenanigans (the domain of Grid and Forza). And yes, I have been bombed like that in FM and Grid... If I'm irked enough I just black flag everybody and restart the race. :D

At least the collision amounted to something.

I'm beginning to wonder if SMS deliberately glued cars to the ground in PCARS2 to prevent over-excited AI from doing that to the player, and more pertinently, if the way they accomplished this was a factor in some of the odd car behavior in handling edge-cases or crashes.

If they now feel confident enough in the tire model and AI to have "unlocked" the physics, allowing incidents like that, I really look forward to getting a taste of the new physics.

It's not like it's so difficult to work out collisions like this, compared to how collisions played out in PCARS2. You essentially just let your physics engine do its thing between the bodies of the cars. I always wondered why PCARS was different.

Isn't it weird how we all get a different experience driving the same game. I did a race at Historic Spa in the BMW M1 Procar against the AI yesterday and I was anything but glued to the ground when hit by the AI.

Anyone hasn’t done so yet should take a look on official project cars forum and check out the desperate fire fighting going on there, it’s best thing yet about new direction of the game!

Do you not think collisions are relatively rigid and uneventful? Cars also have a tendency to "lock" together, door to door, which has not been an uncommon complaint as far as I know.

It's not that nothing happens, it's that what happens isn't as dynamic as other sims, like Assetto Corsa for one good example. I instantly noticed the difference in collisions between PCARS2 and AC upon first contact when I finally gave AC a try.

I'll tell you what I don't see in this video but it's a good thing, no achievement markers on track. Now if you're able to customize the HUD enough to get rid of the XP counter thing and the perfect corner nonsense counter thing, that would improve my outlook on the game.

But another thing I noticed was once he got to the front, were those two other McLaren 720's in P1 & P2? If they are then that tells me that the "classes" could still be top loaded where one or two of a certain car will shoot off into the distance at unreal laptimes (Nissan GTP ZX Turbo for example).
