Haha I think of my car accident where I got t-boned by a Yukon Denali that came outa nowhere and the jerkass cop who thought it was my fault at first (the 5-0). So basically, Blindside: You Scare Me :scared:

hahaha oh man!

Blindside is cheating now. He's using his screen name for mental intimidation. 💡 I'm protesting. :sly:

Damn, guys - I didn't know my :gtplanet: username brought up such negative thoughts like car accidents and Sandra Bullock.

If you saw me in real life you wouldn't be scared - I'm 5'6.375" and a total joker. Example - I usually wear pajama pants while driving at the track (in my stock class fire suits aren't required)...

WIN. 5'6.375 is much more imposing than 5'6.250 ;)
Back to cape ring tho, I find that the quality of my laps rests entirely on turns 2+3 and the hairpin before the loop. And I have an awful habit of botching at least one of them in every lap. I've read thru the breakdown of sector 1 (thanks, btw) but was wondering what you guys use as a braking point for that hairpin. Oh, and I don't go into the pit lane or whatever if I can help it. If I'm thinking that I'm going to I usually take the turn way to fast and slide into the wall on the outside of that lane :/ When it just happens I go with it, I think my PB goes into it right now...

hahaha!!!!

Hey Sandra Bullock is pretty hot for a 40+ Milf! Older the berry, sweeter the juice.

Until it rots ;)

Without using the pit lane, the braking point is about 1/3rd of the way into the dashed lines. There aren't many good visual markers, but what you want to do is get past the curb, swing right a few car widths, and then immediately go 100% brake. It's really a "feel" thing based on spotting the apex as soon as you are finished exiting the pit lane chicane. I would say try to find the dashed lines and figure out which one is good to use because I honestly don't know as I'm looking up at the apex.

Cool thanks! Now that I think about it, the only turns that I actually spot the apex on is turn 1 on every track :scared: Guess I have alot more time to cut off my 5:17 by using proper technique now :D Lol that seems so obvious now that I hear it, I feel like a noob :dunce: wait....I am a noob! :D

I'm looking for pointers on the hairpin before the loop as well. Logic tells me that it should be faster entering wide and late apexing to give you a better run up the hill to the jump. But on my current quick lap I stayed in tight on entry and apexed normally holding a tight line all the way around, it felt slow but the stopwatch said otherwise. Any of you uber fast guys mind sharing your thoughts on it? That corner and the high speed kink leading into the final turns are my achilles' heel at the moment.

I believe it is darker the berry... not older!

(my best post ever on GTPlanet!)
Holy god that was awful. By the way, little bit of anti-aup language in there. Hilarious nonetheless, but painful as hell.

It's something everyone forgets.

I went to NJMP for the first time this year. There was 1"+ of water all around the track and it was pouring outside. After one practice run group I was feeling like hot 🤬 smoking mustangs and corvettes in the rain w/ my 325i. I invited the first instructor I've ever had to come for a ride with me, and he's like - you aren't looking ahead far enough. I was shocked, but he was right - I've always been good at keeping my head up and looking a few reference points ahead, but I must have gotten into a bad habit with the rain/new track and was only looking 1 point ahead (specifically I was staring at the apex without finding the track-out fast enough, and at NJ you can spot the track-out before turn in for a bunch of turns).

Bottom line - I "fixed" the problem, and it helped me smooth out the track in my mind (the next day it dried out, and I would have had a track record in my class by 12 seconds - no joke - but I was running up 2 classes to finish the season in my original class and didn't have the 964 that weekend). It's just one of those things that if you are getting in a slump, remind yourself to keep looking ahead.

I didn't watch all of it, after she said the line in question I turned it off.
Anyone wants to watch it just search youtube for blacker the berry... it's not worth the effort though.

Haha definitely not worth it :) You would be using up 1 trillionth of the total bandwidth in the world by looking it up and that would be way too much.

You can get maximum exit speed without swinging out too wide. This is true for a lot of turns at the Cape. Be careful that you aren't adding excess distance to the turn without gaining any speed.

The keys here are to continue trail braking most of the way around the hairpin, smoothly round off the apex without scrubbing speed or hitting the curb, and to complete the entire turn with one motion. You should only be a couple car widths away from the curb at entry and slowly work your way into the apex. If the apex is starting to get out of your field of vision (off the screen to the left) mid-corner, you are way too far out.

Thanks man and one thing that really helped me with the trailbraking was your advice to start a car's width out from the curbing because my front tires were normally riding in the grass on turn one.

Oh and the distance thing is very true, I cut a bunch of time off just by taking all the corners a bit slower and tighter on entry so I could power out more in the middle of the track.

I took a 2:45.0 into the second to last turn. I was too far to the middle of the track going in and didn't brake enough to make the sweeping left. Steaming now. =/

The turn that really kills me is the hairpin before the loop. I have no kind of consistency through there. If I can get that turn down then I'll have a 100 times better chance of hitting my lap. I hope I can get it down before Monday!

That's it, I'm lowering my cape time. Here I come. Haven't driven there since my 45.1, it's going to be tough.

edit: eh its not a bad lap, I think I'll leave it

Ya now you feel my frustration, Fix!

I find it helpful to break it down by sectors so I dont think about the lap being 2 min 45 sec. I try to nail the first 2 sectors 1 out of 5 attempts, then I just tell myself I have to nail a 1 min 20 sec lap. The hardest part is reminding myself to go all out when Im up on my ghost going into the loop. I have a tendency to baby it the rest of the way because I dont wanna mess up, especially that 106 mph uphill left towards the end.

it sucks hard the fact that my laps have ****** first corners/sector, gives me hope and then crushes me. I bet it does that to other people too lol

I still can't nail the first sector..my fastest through is a 49.1...based on the diagram I always seem to lose a few tenths at turn 3/4 even though I feel I get a perfect turn-in sometimes. I'm least consistent in the 2nd sector, especially at turn 10 going into turn 11. Not for wrecking into the wall, but maintaining 115+ through it.

Well, I can safely say that the next #1 time at Cape Ring will be in the 44's. I just posted a 2.45.000. ARGH! I would of been happy with .001 or something but a .000 that's just wrong.

So good. So smooth. I think you probably had a 2:44.8 going into the last sector. Your 2nd sector is absolutely ridiculous.

I'm trying once I do the bonus C4 WRC race they just put up. Gonna take a long while though, I'll need like 2-3 days of practice at least. I can only beat my own times when I drive for a while on the track

I just ran 5 straight 2:45's - .6, .6, .5, .6, .9. WTF - if I could just string pieces of that together...

If only this was a race or something, I'd probably have a nice lead after those 5 laps...but it's not.
