The GTP Rolex Sports Car Series- Brickyard Grand Prix! Finished!

How's the weather down there? Probably nicer than the 15F I'm experiencing right now. :(

I was in shorts and sweating yesterday lol. Right now it's already 60+ degrees. I'm about to head to the DP garage for some photos
I'll have a lot on the grand am thread along with some videos on Monday.

Have a good weekend mate, I bet the atmosphere there is amazing right now.

Feeling rather jealous looking at those pics! Definitely need to make a trip over to america at some point! Although I'll have to settle for Le Mans for now ;) oh and does anyone know if there's a way I'll be able to watch the Daytona 24 hours online live this weekend?

Go to www.stream.speedtv.com/rolex24 and they have several different onboard views you can watch for free. No commentary, but there are Internet radio streams that are broadcasting it. 👍

Oh, I stumbled upon this today. :sly:

HURRAY! After tonight's race, after 65 laps, I beat Ant by only .561!!! Get excited guys! Going to be a close race, and season 4 if you choose to race it!

You can count me in on this, though I have to decide on what car I would run.

GT class more then likely as I enjoy the tight competition involved in it and being the slower group of cars on the track has its own set of difficulties when the faster cars catch up to us and start lapping.:odd:

Welcome Aboard! Look to see if a car is full, CJ didn't show up today, and after signing up for Season 3 3-4 times, I'm quite certain he won't come to the race. So you could probably take his spot if you would like.

Thanks buddy! 👍 I have the CSR Elite pedals, they are pretty nice. I do wish the brake had some more travel to it, but I'm used to it now with the setting its on, so it doesn't matter. I'd say they far are better than the G25 pedals I used to have :)

The wheel is flippin' fantastic and really worth every penny. The CSR was a good, solid wheel too no complaints from it really. I only upgraded because my wife said its her B-Day/X-Mas gift to me. Was I gonna say no? No :P

You have the coolest wife ever.

Oh yea, at least 1,000! At that point, you may want to seriously think about saving a little more and getting the Clubsport Gear!

The CSR elite is the same base but is a better buy as you can cross platform to all three(xBox, PS3, PC), the only difference is the color and one has a quick release and option to interchange the wheel.

I would run the CSR Elite base and the Clubsport V2 pedals personally. Adding in the CSR shifter, table clamp and Orange pedal kit( for amusement) it comes out to 939.75 US$. Including shipping and tax, the total comes to $1039.32 shipped. I already have a cockpit( that is sitting in the garage as there is no room with all the babies stuff in the house, so I guess I could make use of it again since I spent all that time designing and building it.

Though, that would be enough money to buy the rod bearings, rings and head gasket for the LSVTEC and put that back together to get my CRX back on the road and track which would be much more affective at picking up sponsors again for SCCA

Seems like you've been looking into it more than I have! They're both awesome wheels, same thing only the Xbox function and wheel change ability (which you mentioned)

Either way, they're both too expensive for me!

I think I will run the DP. I just dislike Ferrari way to much to drive one:yuck:

I know I am crazy, but I just have not like them since the F40 days when they were death traps. Everyone in this part of So Cal that owns one just parks it or drives it like a Prius until they turn into Super D Ick and almost kill someone from lack of driving ability.

You have been added! One DP spot left!

Yeah I have.

I did a lot of grip and drift practice to stay sharp in the off season on Forza.

I was pretty big on Forza 3/4 in the Sim Battle drifting, I was on Slide America for a few years and battled in sim style comps almost daily in my IS-F. That resulted in 8 months and 11 days undefeated in even a single round of competition so I then branched of and took quite a few of the guys and started my own team, Simulation Squad. I really tried to transfer most of the RL techniques I was lucky enough to have been taught by Tanaka and Kumakubo back in '05 from favors our RL team did for D1GP USA and Team Orange.

Touching bumper soft enough to only crack a tail light or sometimes not even show damage on outside clipping points and touching doors was the first objective in game, but it progressed to 90 degree and eventually full consistency on backwards entries was the direction I went and the top guys I recruited followed suit out of immersion.

That resulted in 11 out of 13 members of Sim Squad being able to follow me into just about anything and we would stay withing a few inches of each other from entry to exit or just manji the entire course we were running, Simulation always being the key focus.

I started noticing many programming errors that were not being addressed by Turn10 even with one of my guys making videos and sending them to them to prove what I was talking about with the steering short comings but it fell on def ears. I noticed one day that a guy we met had a much faster response with the steering and could achieve steering inputs that just could not be attain with the controller so I looked into the Elite.

I have wanted one since then and had the opportunity to use one at a buddies one day and I was sold. I truly believe it is the best unit on the market due to its build and cross platform ability where the G27 falls short on xBox.

I know, I am  and put way to much time and thought into this, but I am a hardcore motorsports enthusiast to the point of it being an illness. My though has always been if you going to make racing game it should be sim or otherwise be marketed to children only regardless of how fun it may be. Forza and GT have gone that direction for home consoles and they might do themselves a great service to watch each other and bite a little of the others ideas and they would both achieve perfection.

Just my opinion and it is just that.

Holy cow the race is this weekend!

And consider yourself blessed at being able to drift, I can't drift to save my life!

I cant do it here, never been able to get past the clutch and e brake being the same button as they each have a separate input on the car and should be separated in game without buying a wheel.

and yes it is this weekend :nervous:

Yikes, I better get my car dialed in, I haven't even turned a lap yet. :nervous: Do you guys share tuning setups or is that kind of talk not allowed. I'm not a tuner and haven't turned a virtual GT5 wrench in about a year since I normally do tuning-prohibited racing. I'll probably just dial in the transmission and leave the rest alone.

Gonna be any practice sessions this week?

I totally forgot about this, have not set a wheel there yet either. Im coming on to practice tomorrow about this time though I think.
I might make a last minute change to the Ferrari, I like they way they drive - precise. Will let you know how it goes Polar. :)

As far as I know everyone seems pretty cool with sharing their setups. The only problem with that is some people use wheels, and others use controllers.

Oh and my best time so far is 1:27.2 incase anyone is interested.

Usually if you ask for a setup, someone will share one!

Keep me posted if you decide to switch :)

There may be a practice session or two this week ;)
