As I think the situation has died down (hopefully for good) I'll give my opinion (after some sleep!)
I thought the series was on Saturday... Oops!
There are differences guys. The obvious is obvious. The cars are different.... But they use racing hards only. That makes them unappealing to the more casual group. They want the more hardcore drivers, while we will get the newer/ casual people (sometimes unfortunately...) and they have a more European friendly time.
This next part isn't ment to start a fight, and is not directed to any of the drivers in this series, but the coordinators of the other series. I dont want any of the drivers to comment on this next part.
You guys thought out what series you wanted to do, as any series should. You also thought about other series, as was shown in the Indycar3 thread. My quotes may be off a bit, I apologize in advance (I'm on the app) "I'd like to talk to you about Grand Am" *few comments later* "How about ALMS?" "No, that's already established"
That's where I start to have a problem. This shows that you looked at the American series here, and saw the ALMS was on season 5, so you didn't make one. But since we are just on our second season, that makes us fair game?
All the touring car series are valid points, and I agree with most, only difference I see here is that our names are virtually identical.
And the new series is for GTP America, I'd have been open to being apart of all these organizations. I'd have loved you guys to help me organize this. And being perfectly honest, a second 'Division' was in the works with a earlier start time.
The pm I got pretty much said: hi, I'm going to open another Grand Am series. I hope you don't mind.
Which I didn't at the time (beach really does make you relaxed!) I however, would have liked a pm a bit before. One saying "hi, I'm thinking about starting another Grand Am series, would you mind?"
Don't get me wrong, I did appreciate the pm I got, I just wish I had gotten one of those a bit earlier.
Also in the past when people have made dupes of series (I'll use indycar as a example, although I think it's happened with NASCAR too.) they just said there already is a indycar series and they didn't feel like another was needed. And the other party stopped their indycar series.
Someone told me to do this on the Rolex season 2 thread when I told everyone another Grand Am series was being made. (to hopefully avoid this...) But it seemed like once he found out who was making it, he had a change of heart.
I know i'm not part of your 'clique' but, I think we could've worked something out, I'd still like to work it out with you guys.
Best regards,
Drew
