no, ballast only makes you slower with the extra weight

Have you changed any of the kart's settings (apart from the gear ratio's of course) or is it stock apart from that?

If you have would you care to share? ;) (or if anyone else has a tune for that matter)

Dan.

EDIT: Also, how many people here are getting 23 or 24 bhp from their kart? I'm only getting 22bhp

I watched Vega's lap yesterday. Go onto the onboard camera. I have never heard a kart sound like that. I dunno if he's cheating or a genius but I have never heard a kart like that.

wrong. you need to brake for the corner going into the loop with the lil crest. you cant take this flat out. you have to lift on a few occasions round that track or you lose the plot and slide out lol. i have also done a 33.4 but thats with braking and feathering the throttle on some corners

You can take the left hand sweeper flat out, trust me. But it's not the quickest way into the next two right handers. It makes more sense to sacrifice a bit of speed so you can carry more speed into the final 3 right hand corners.

Nice time, I'm at 33.1 with pad at the moment, only had about 50 laps so far though. Is your max speed still at 71mph, because that's what i'm using :).

Dan.

Nice lap dude 👍
Ive been using max speed 67mph for my fastest lap, Experimented as low as 65, which is way too low. I think 67 or 68 is where It needs to be.

I'm pretty sure he is exploiting some glitch, he may be purchasing the kart @33hp without any gt5 patch, then re download the gt5 patch to play online.

i'm sure there's a VTEC lawnmower engine on his kart.

Do you know that Spanish/Portugese leaderboard, along with French were the most competetive on GT Academy?
US leaderboard was a joke compared to EU's, does that mean EU was cheating? Think about this.

Also, lose the "i'm the fastest" attitude. 👍

I watched his replay, don't have a clue how he's doing it but replay's clean and there are no signs of cheating whatsoever.

1. There hasn't been a world leaderboard with the same car/track since the prologue. The fastest in that was an aussie and a bunch of japenese, not european. In fact, a Canadian was in one of the top spots and only down by 0.2 on the worlds best time, combined over two tracks.

2. I don't know where this is coming from. I said "I would know" about Vega cheating because i'm fast enough in the kart to be able to easily see that he and the other spaniard have an unfair advantage over the rest of the field.

3. Ok so you watched his replay, and you still don't think there is anything suspicious? Sorry my friend, but you clearly are not an authority on what's possible in a kart.

bonus - You obviously follow leaderboards alot. Tell me this.... Have you ever once seen the leader winning by 2 seconds even on a MUCH longer track? This should be a dead give away without even watching the replay........ Do your homework or please keep your comments to yourself.

The top 2 times in the kart space tt are 2 SECONDS faster than everyone else. NOW does anyone believe me and turismo-lester that they're cheating??

I have 24 HP in my DLC 100 kart and my PDI 100. You should be able to rebuild the engine after about 270 miles are put on the kart.

Hmmm, what kind of exploits are they pulling off??

I got my time down to a 33.2xx; I am getting closer. :)

EDIT:

Rebuild the engine after 270 miles? Is that how you get into the 32's ???

Ffs, clear cheat

Im getting 22hp, best lap 32.9xx so far

33.087 is my fastest.there might be a couple of tenths there, then my ability is spent. 22hp with me as well, maybe thats what it is,2hp would make the difference i suppose with vegas time.
but the way he came straight back, once someone topped his first time, and pulled 4 tenths.............i dont know, you tell me,

I did! lol
Trust me the top 2 have an unfair advantage of some sort.
Never been more sure of anything

The same unfair advantage doodle has , with his 24 bhp ?

btw doodle and AnTihelT were the first 2 , posting a sub 33 time. ;)

Maybe so. There is also a few things about the replay tho that lead me to believe it's more than that.
We'll get to the bottom of this 👍

 this is the result of making this event "no limit" tyres and bhp/PP.

If PD had made a limit of 22/24 bhp and SS tyres max or provided us the cart , we didn´t had a discussion about cheating or unfair advantage. ;)

Same goes with every other TT or DT.

1. PM
2. I said (or did I) that the gap is huge, but judging by the ORL rules the lap is clean
3. Suspicious? Lines were strange yes but, look - I don't play GT5 10hrs a day, I came home, went on GTP, saw the thread, went on GT5, watched the replay, seemed legit (didn't pay attention to any other replays), turned off GT5, went off PS3. 👍

No I haven't, but as I said, didn't pay attention to that since all did that day on GT5 was watch that replay (didn't even do the new TT/DTs).

Also, nice PM, very mature. ;)

Worked on Nurburgring on/off throughout the day, and ultimately pulled out a 10574 which puts me temporarily at 1786th. Tried a few cars, but this run was in the WRC Focus with a 10/90 split and other minor adjustments. I must say I'm kind of stoked now, completed my goal too...
Must say Nurburgring GP took a few more runs to get a knack of the tighter corners, but am now hitting consistently in the high 7000 range. A minor adjustment here and there will help, and I now look forward to climbing past 10000 here too 👍

Not done here yet. Twelve-fifty is a reasonable new target I think 💡

just seen the new leaders again. wow 2secs in front of others. i think your right about the having the 33hp kart. how else would they be doing this? im struggling to beat my damn time of 33.4 with a pad lol

The kart seasonal leaders have insane levels of grip that's the key to their fast laps. I don't believe they have more hp. I tried it for an hour or so and got down to 33.2 few days ago, figured I'd hit high 32's which I've done before if I kept at it. Came back yesterday to see the two Spaniards way out in front. I don't know how they do it, but they just have massive grip that I cannot achieve. Look at their throttle/brake inputs in the replay. They barely touch the brake throughout the lap and their back end never seems to come out at corner entry speeds I cannot even dream about. But their top speeds are the same as mine.

They've found some kind of trick with the karts and obviously they are sharing it with each other or discovered it independently. Be nice if they'd tell the rest of us but it might spoil karts for me so I'm kind of hoping we never find out.

I can't beat my 33.4 either.

I agree, their advantage seems to come from grip not power. I watched some of the replays yesterday and they only (just barely) use brake in two corners.

Their lines on turns 2/3 seem very strange to me. They throttle lift and sort of drift through turn 2 which sets them up for a very tight turn 3 and yet they are able to go full throttle the entire time. I don't really see how have extra hp would help in doing this.

I loaded both leader replays in the data logger and something smells fishy to me too. They're going flat out around corners with both front tires in the red with no apparent loss of grip or directional control.

Red Bull racing has been cheating for the last two seasons according to every other F1 team ... Yet the best engineers and aerodynamicists in the world don't have a clue how.

Jos Verstappen recently claimed Michael Schumacher's 1994 Benetton was fitted with traction control and other illegal driving aids because there is no way Schumi could have been that much faster than Jos in the same car. So what if one is a 7 time world champion and the other was a scrub?

Point is, whenever someone is much faster, others inevitibly claim cheating. Without proof it is hollow ... Nothing more than sour grapes.

I still cant improve my 32.465. I don't know how Japan seems to dominate every single time trial

Haha, I was thinking of Jos Verstappen's comments too when I was reading this thread. However, I think when you consider this is a worldwide competition with lots of very fast drivers racing essentially identical machinery on a very short track, it has to at least raise a few eyebrows when a couple of guys have such a massive lead. Particularly since they are from the same country which leads one to infer that they may know each other.

I am not saying they are cheating, just that I think it is completely reasonable to be curious about the possibility of it. A two second gap in karts with such stiff competition on this track is beyond alien. Either these guys are driving geniuses or just a couple of good drivers who figured out a way to game the system.

Pretty jealous of that time. I was trying to follow your ghost to lower my time but I seem perpetually stuck at 33.2's no matter what I do. Made me feel even slower when I realized how many people in the top 10 don't even use wheels and are still spanking me. :boggled:
